Holley - Clarence C. BEACH, 67, died at a local service station here shortly after collapsing there at 11 a.m. yesterday, Dec. 12. He was about to leave with his car after getting some accessories there.
He leaves two sisters, Mrs. Claude SANFORD of Murray and Mrs. William COVENTRY of Gaines, and three nieces and two nephews.
Friends may call at the Merrill Funeral Home at 31 Geddes St., Holley, from 2 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. today and tomorrow. Services will be held there at 2 p.m. Friday, with burial in Sandy Creek Cemetery.

Tommy Collins BEACH Jr., 15, died Saturday at the home of his parents on West Academy St. He leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas BEACH; four brothers, William, Lynn, Arnold and Russell; three sisters, Frances, Gladys and Dorothy.
Funeral services were held Monday at 2:30 from the funeral home. Burial was in Mt. Albion Cemetery. The sympathy of the entire community is extended to the sorrowing family in their loss.

Albion - Alvin Rufus BEADLE, 74, of Barre, for 46 years a livestock broker on the Buffalo market, died unexpectedly yesterday in St. Francis' Hospital in Buffalo.
Friends may call at the Grinnell Funeral Home, 230 South Main Street, Albion, where the funeral will be conducted at 2 p. m. tomorrow with burial in Mt. Albion Cemetery. The courtesy of no flowers has been requested by the family.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Lorene Alice BEADLE of Barre; a daughter, Mrs. James Sherman HOUCK of Rochester; two grandsons, Alvin Sherman BEADLE (HOUCK) of Vicksburg, Pa., and Randall F. BEADLE (HOUCK) of Rochester; two sisters, Mrs. Fred DeLAMARTER of Detroit, Mich., and Mrs. William BARKER of Sarasota, Florida, and several nieces and nephews.

Death of John BEALE -- Mr. John BEALE passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Charles GARNER, on Monday, Nov 28th, in his 89th year. Deceased, who had been a resident of Medina, N. Y., the past thirty years, was spending a few weeks' visit with relatives in this vicinity, when he was stricken with pneumonia which ended in his death after about ten days' suffering.
The funeral took place on Wednesday afternoon. After service at the house the remains were interred in the Rockway cemetery.

The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon, Rev. O. F. Alvord, of Ridgeway, officiating. Burial was in West Ridgeway Cemetery.

Albion - Gordon C. BEARDSLEY, 66, active in Republican politics in the Town of Carlton for a number of years and power station operator for the Buffalo-Niagara Power Company for many years until his retirement a year ago, died Saturday at his residence in Sawyer, north of here.
He was a life member of the Albion Renovation Lodge of F. & A.M., a 25-year member of the Albion Elks Lodge, and had held a number of town offices in Carlton as well as having served as a Republican committeeman for several terms.
He was born in Carlton, the son of Hazelton Spencer and Etta M. (HOAG) BEARDSLEY, and lived there all his life. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Reba E. (CALLARD) BEARDSLEY, and a daughter, Mrs. Murray L. RICHARDSON of Kent, wife of the Orleans County clerk.
Friends will be received at the Merrill Funeral Home at 134 East State Street, Albion, from 2 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. today and tomorrow. Masonic services will be held at the funeral home at 8:30 p.m. tomorrow and funeral services will be conducted there at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday by the Rev. B. B. HATHAWAY of Gaines. Burial will be in Mt. Albion Cemetery (Lot 1748 Fairview).

A Medina woman was fatally injured at 11:30 last night when the car which she was driving failed to negotiate a curve in the road and slammed broadside against a tree. Killed instantly from her injuries was Cali Ellen BECHT, 20, 325 Park Avenue. According to Batavia State Police the accident happened on the State Street Road, three miles northwest of Batavia. Miss BECHT was alone in the car when the accident happened. Her family here state she was returning to her home here from a Sunday visit in Genesee County. Genesee Coroner Erwin A. Cole of Batavia was called and the body was removed to the Bohn Funeral Home in that city. A verdict of accidental death has been issued.
Miss BECHT was born in Buffalo September 30, 1938 and came with her family to Medina in 1945 and has made her home here since that time. She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Margaret BECHT with whom she made her home; four brothers, Emory and Ronald of Medina, Capt. Frederick BECHT Jr., U. S. Army and Earl, currently in Mexico.
The body is being taken to the Thibault Funeral Home, 1006 South Main Street. Funeral arrangements are not complete.

Frederick Alvin BECHT, 46, 325 Park Avenue, a native of Buffalo but a resident of Medina for the past few years, died in Meyer Memorial Hospital, Buffalo, Wednesday afternoon, February 8, after a serious illness of several weeks. He had been a patient in the Buffalo hospital for five weeks.
Mr. BECHT came to Medina as steward at the Medina Lodge of Elks in 1943. Prior to that he had been a partner in the Churchill Mailway Advertising concern of Buffalo and for the past year he had been employed by Charles Straba in the Silver Dollar restaurant. He was a member of Medina Lodge of Moose. He was born October 26, 1903.
Surviving are his widow, Margaret Ellen METHOT BECHT of Medina, four sons, Master Sargeant Frederick L. BECHT of Fort Lewis, Washington; Earl BECHT of Mission, Texas, and Emory E. and Ronald C. BECHT, at home, and one daughter, Cali Ellen BECHT, also at home; also his mother, Mrs. Joseph BOK, three sisters, Mrs. Pearl MOORE, Mrs. Evelyn HAWKINS and Mrs. Jean BOOKER, and three brothers, Oliver, William and Charles BECHT, all of Buffalo; three grandchildren and several neices and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 p. m. from the Thibault Funeral Home. The Rev. John E. WILKINSON, rector of St. John’s Episcopal Church, will officiate and burial will be in the family plot in Boxwood Cemetery.

Funeral services for the late Aaron BEC, 85, who passed away Friday after a lingering illness were held Sunday afternoon at 2: 30 o’clock at the home of Stephen Watts, Elm Street. The Rev. William Findlay officiating. Mr. BECK was born in England and came to this country at the age of thirteen years. He had resided at Barre and East Shelby the remainder of his life. He leaves one niece Mrs. Lottie LEWIS of Arcade and one nephew James RALYEA of East Aurora.
The Bearers were: R. T. Smith Jr., Burdette Neal, Theodore Drew and Louie Gridley. Those from out of town who attended the services were: Mr. and Mrs. James RALYEA, East Aurora; Mrs. Lottie LEWIS, Harold LEWIS, and Miss Bannister of Arcade; Mr. and Mrs. Adelbert Hamn and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Johnson, Basom and Mr. and Mrs. Dan RALYEA and Homer RALYEA, Oakfield. Burial was at East Shelby Cemetery.

Aaron BECK, former Barre resident, died Friday in Medina. Born in England 85 years ago and brought to the United States at the age of 13, Mr. BECK had passed the remainder of his life at Barre and East Shelby.

Miss Emily BECK, a life long resident of Jeddo, was found dead by the side of the road at 7 o'clock Monday morning. It is believed she had been struck by an automobile as she on her way to work at the Fred Pike evaporator which is about a mile and a half west of her home in Jeddo. The body was discovered a short distance from her home by Miss Cora Cook, a neighbor, who also works in the Pike dryer, as she was on her way to work. Miss BECK, who was 65 years of age, usually started out rather early in the morning for her work as she could not walk as fast as the others.
The body was taken into a nearby house and Coroner Munson notified. Later it was removed to the rooms of a Middleport undertaker where an autopsy was performed by Drs. Robert Munson and Mudge. It showed that death must have been instantaneous as the body was terribly mangled and crushed as run over by a heavy automobile or truck. She is survived by an invalid sister, Mrs. Lizzie BREED, who she was taking care of and two brothers, Charles and William BECK, all of Jeddo. She was a member of the Jeddo Baptist Church and the I. O. G. T.

George A. BECK, 67, of 11 Garland St., Lyndonville, died at 11:15 a.m. today, following an illness of about two years. Mr. BECK was a carpenter by trade and during the past 10 years had been employed at Harrison Radiator Div. in Lockport until his illness. Survivors include his wife, Alice Catherine (HELSDON); a sister, Mrs. George EHRENREICH of Medina; a brother, Fred BECK, of Buffalo. Also several nieces and nephews.

Lyndonville - Mrs. Gertrude M. BECK, 74, died Sunday afternoon in Medina Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient since Wednesday. Death resulted from a heart attack suffered about a week ago. The deceased was born in Buffalo July 6, 1878, the daughter of the late Adelbert and Mary NOONAN MAKLY.
She married Harry BECK of Lyndonville in 1923 and since that time had resided in Lyndonville or vicinity. Mr. Beck passed away in April 1952. Mrs. BECK was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and a member of the Rosary and Altar Society of that church. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Blanche BLOOD and Mrs. Mary GROSS, Buffalo and two nieces.
Prayers will be said at her home at 91 South Main Street at 9:30 Wednesday morning, followed by requiem high mass at St. Joseph’s Church at 10 o’clock. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Medina.

Henry BECK, aged 84 years, well-known fruit grower residing on the Lyndonville road at Beck's Corners, died at his home Saturday. He was the oldest pioneer orchardist in this section and had operated large fruit farms. He had been in failing health many months. Besides his widow, Mr. BECK is survived by three sons, Fred, Harry and James, and four daughters, Mrs. Lena MAHER, Mrs. Elizabeth QUINN, Mrs Frances NESTER of Cleveland, 0. and Mrs. Anna WARING. The funeral was held Monday morning at St. Mary's Church, Rev. James A. Hogan, assisted by Revs. O'Connel and Garvey of Buffalo, officiating.

Lyndonville - Funeral services for James Albert BECK will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 in the home of his niece, Mrs. Florence HUNGERFORD, 33 Riverside St.
Mr. BECK, whose ancestors settled in Pittsburgh, Pa., more than 200 years ago, died Tuesday in the Adelaide Poler Nursing Home, Medina, after an illness of two weeks. He was born in Pittsburgh, June 16, 1857, the son of David J. and Ellen TAYLOR BECK. Mr. BECK was chief clerk of vital statistics, Bureau of Health, for the City of Pitsburgh, before his retirement in 1928. He has made his home with his niece for the past eight years.
Surviviors include two nieces, Mrs. HUNGERFORD of Lyndonville and Mrs. Martha FISHER of Pittsburgh; a great-nephew, James HUNGERFORD of Wellsboro, Pa.. also other nephews. His sister, Mrs. Florence E. REESE, died Sept. 17 of this year. The Rev. John E. Wilkinson of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Medina, will officiate at the services. Burial will be in the Daniel’s Cemetery, S. Lyndonvi1le Road.

Lyndonville - Harry BECK, 70, died yesterday afternoon at his home, 91 S. Main St., following an illness of the past three years. He was born in Town of Ridgeway, May 12, 1881, son of Henry J. and Mary MAYER BECK, and had resided in the Lyndonville vicinity his entire lifetime, where he engaged in farming until a few years ago.
Mr. BECK served for many years as a trustee of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Lyndonville, of which he was a member. He was an honorary member of Knights of Columbus and a Fourth Degree Knight of that order.
Surviving are his wife, Gertrude MAKELEY BECK of Lyndonville, three sisters, Mrs. Anna WARING, Mrs. Elizabeth QUINN and Mrs. Helena MAHAR, all of Lyndonville; one brother, Fred BECK of Lockport, and three nephews and a niece. Prayer service is scheduled at his home at 9:45 a.m. Saturday, with mass at St. Joseph’s Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Medina.

James Becket (BECKETT), one of the pioneer residents of Orleans county, died at his family home at East Shelby Sunday night, aged 97 years. He is survived by three sons, William, Frank, and Fred, all of Shelby. Funeral was held from his late home yesterday afternoon.

John Selheimer BECKWITH, 51, well known fruit grower and produce dealer of County Line, died at the home of his mother, Mrs. Dwight S. BECKWITH at Albion Sunday afternoon, April 16, 1933, after a long lingering illness.
He was born in Carlton in the same home in which his father, the late Dwight S. BECKWITH, a pioneer fruit man, and his grandmother were born and which was purchased by his great-grandfather from the Holland Land company. After attending Albion high school and Cornell uni¬versity, Mr. BECKWITH for thirty years was prominently identified with the agricultural life of Western New York as a grower in Oswego, Wayne and Orleans counties. He was for many years an owner and director of the Albion and Hilton cold storage companies.
He was interested in military affairs and a charter member of Troop I of the First Cavalry of the New York National Guard. During the World war he was captain of Company N of the 74th Infantry of the Home Guards. He was accepted by the federal service and stationed at Camp Fremont, Calif., shortly before the armistice was signed. His diversity of interests also made him a member of the American Remount association, organized to promote horse breeding to insure good mounts for army service. In addition, he was rated an export marksman and a shrewd sailboat skipper. He was a member of Delta Phi, the Masons and Gaines Grange. He also was a member of the Buffalo Country club, the Saturn club and the Buffalo club.
Eleven years ago, he married Genevieve SPENCER of Birminham, Alabama. Surviving him are his wife, Mrs. Genevieve BECKWITH; his mother, Mrs. D. S. BECKWITH, and a sister, Mrs. Ernestine HELTMAN of Tacoma, Washington.
The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon in the Presbyterian church at Albion, of which he was a member, Rev. Earl Hamlin, officiating. Burial was in Mt. Albion Cemetery.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow in the Hartt Funeral Home for Willis Clark BECKWITH, 73, who expired unexpectedly here Saturday morning. The Rev. Reginald CORY of the Methodist Church, of which the deceased was a member, will officiate and burial will be in Mt. Albion Cemetery. Mr. BECKWITH died from a heart attack suffered shortly after he reported for work a little before eight o’clock on Saturday. His lifeless body was found seated in the store by Louis Metz, one of the proprietors of Metz Bros. where he was employed.
Born in Carlton his parents were the late N. Eli and Alice CLARK BECKWITH. He came to Medina as a young man and entered the employment of J. Derr Lott in the men's clothing business. Later he worked for the Murdock Store and more recently for Metz Bros. With the exception of ten years residence in Albion, Mr. Beckwith has been a resident of Medina. He was active in Boy Scout work for a number of years and for a considerable length of time was district commissioner.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Lula Belle STRICKLAND BECKWITH, a son, James Armand BECKWITH of Chicago, two grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Gladys B. HOLCOMBE of Rochester.

Lyndonville - Millard Smythe of the Smythe Funeral Home here indicated today that he expects to receive the bodies of Mrs. Lusette BEDIENT, 33, and her daughters, Ann, 6, and Suzanne, 4, this week end. The three perished at St. Petersburg, Fla., last week end as the result of asphyxiation, reportedly from a leaky gas stove in their home. Mrs. BEDIENT was the wife of Erford H. BEDIENT, formerly of Lyndonville and now a writer for Tele-News Daily in New York City. A Florida coroner has revealed that the three probably died last Friday. Their bodies were not discovered until later that week end, when neighbors noticed no one coming or going from the house.
Mrs. BEDIENT was born at Muoy, France, and married the Lyndonville man during World War II. One daughter, Ann, was born near Paris, and Suzanne was born in Buffalo. Mrs. BEDIENT had been residing in Florida for the past year.
Surviving, in addition to the husband, are paternal grandparents, Mrs. and Mrs. Erford L. BEDIENT of S. Lyndonville Rd., and Mrs. BEDIENT’s mother, Sylvanie VAN WINCO COCU, in France.

(AP) - A jury of civic leaders Saturday ruled that the deaths of Mrs. Lucette BEDIENT, 34, a French war bride, and her two daughters, in an apartment was not due to negligence of the landlord. The jury made urgent proposals, however, forimmediate modernization of the city’s gas codes.
Mrs. BEDIENT had come here to divorce Erford BEDIENT, New York television news writer, and former Buffalo newspaper reporter. The bodies of Mrs. BEDIENT and her children, Anne, 7, and Susanne, 4, were found in a second-floor apartment Feb. 20. They apparently had been dead since Feb. 19.
Coroner Edward Silk ruled the deaths accidental but called an inquest to determine whether the landlord, Clarence Heinds, social service director of the city Welfare Department, was negligent.

Harold M. BEECHER, 57, 414 Park Ave., died in Medina Memorial early Sunday morning. He was born in Buffalo, Aug. 26, 1897, the son of Mark H. and Delia BERNHOFT BEECHER, and he came to Medina at an early age. For a number of years, Mr. BEECHER has been employed by the H. J. Heinz Co. as shipping and receiving clerk. He is a member of First Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Rebea K. KENYON BEECHER; two daughters, Sonia Jeanne and Carol Ann; two sons, Robert W. and Richard Merwyn, all at home. Also surviving are his mother, Mrs. Delia BEECHER, Medina, and one sister, Mrs. Russell HILL of Sarasota, Fla; Also one niece, Mrs. Very PIERSON of Reading, Pa.
Friends may call at his late home, 414 Park Ave., from where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Reginald E. CORY will officiate and burial will be in Boxwood Cemetery.

Henry Lyman BEECHER died Sept. 19th at his home. He was born in Yates, November 11th, 1845, but a resident of this village (Albion) the past forty years, a retired New York Central Railroad employee. He was a Civil War Veteran, enlisting July 21st, 1862, and was mustered into service at Lockport August 11th of that year. He was sergeant of the colors and served until June 1865 when he was discharged. Mr. BEECHER was a member of Curtis-Bates Post, G. A. R. of this village.
Mr. BEECHER leaves one son, Perry L. BEECHER of Rochester, and one daughter, Mrs. Bernadine S. MIEROW of Colorado Springs, and three grandchildren. Funeral service was held from the home Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock, the Rev. L. H. Robinson officiating.

The many friends of Minor D. BEECHER will be pained to learn of his decease, which occurred last week, and the funeral services were held at his residence in Delavan, Illinois. Mr. BEECHER was born and grew to manhood in the town of Yates, this county, and some years since moved to Delavan, Illinois, where he engaged in the practice of law and had attained an enviable position in his profession and was justly regarded as on of the leading men in his section of the state. The old residents of Yates well remember Minor BEECHER, and his genial manner, open, frank disposition and good nature made him a universal favorite. He was a man of far more than ordinary ability, and if he had lived would have become one of the leading men of his adopted state. He leaves a widow, the daughter of H.(Henry) D. SOUTHWORTH, deceased, and several children. Mr. BEECHER was a brother of Wellington and Henry BEECHER, of Yates.

Edward BEATON, aged about forty years, died at his home on Maple ridge early yesterday morning from injuries received by a kick in the bowels from a horse on Monday. Deceased was a strong healthy man previous to this sad casualty. Although his injuries were painful, a fatal result was not looked for, at least so soon, and death came unexpected to the family. He leaves a wife (Mary) and two children.

George BEGOLE, 80, for many years a resident of Medina, but more recently living in Brockport, died last night in the Veterans Hospital in Buffalo where he had been a patient for the past week. Mr. BEGOLE was born in Emporium, Pa., but had lived in Medina the greater part of his life. He served with the Medina National Guard Co. in the Spanish American War. He was a member of the local post of Spanish War Veterans and a past commander of the unit.
He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. James HIGGINS of Brockport; a sister, Mrs. Thomas GARRETT of Toledo, Ohio, and a brother, Frank, of Kerman, Calif.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 19, in the Dunn Funeral Home, Brockport, at 2:30 p. m. with burial in the family plot in Boxwood Cemetery here.

Albion, July 28 - Kirke E. BELL, 66, a one-time assistant fire chief here and long active in local fraternal and civic organizations, died last night (July 27, 1956) in Arnold Gregory Memorial Hospital after a long illness. He was a native and lifelong resident of Albion.
Propietor and operator for a number of years of a former delivery, taxi and school bus business, he was a past president of the Albion Lions Club and also of the Active Hose Co. of the Albion Fire Department, a director for several decades of the Albion Baptist Church, a member of the Albion Elks and IOOF Lodges and Orleans Encampment. He was a member of the Mt. Albion Cemetery Commission.
The IOOF Lodge will hold a service at 8:30 p.m. Sunday (July 29) in the McNall Funeral Home at 156 S. Main St.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth C. BELL of Albion; two daughters, Mrs. Erwin BAUER of Buffalo and Mrs. Gerald GIBBS of Phelps, and four grandchildren.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday (July 29) at the McNall Funeral Home, where the Rev. Paul Faust will conduct a service at 3:30 p.m. Monday with burial in Mt. Albion Cemetery.

Accident Early Saturday Is Fatal to Young Medinan
Funeral services were held this afternoon for Oscar BELLAMY Jr., 27, 505 Church St., who
was killed instantly in an auto tragedy early Saturday. Mr. BELLAMY met death when the car
in which he was a passenger went out of control and into a ditch. The accident happened at
1:30 a.m. Saturday on the Horan Road north of Medina near the Portage Road intersection.
The driver of the car, William Francis Guzik, 28, 520 Church St., Medina, was not injured.
He was later arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated. He paid a fine of $100
when arraigned before Peace Justice Lyman Holman of Ridgeway, and his license was revoked.
Trooper Ted Georgitso of the Albion State Police said the two men were traveling south on
the Horan Road when the ear went out of control on a curve and landed on the passenger’s
side in a ditch on the west side of the highway. The accident was discovered by four men
passing, police said. The men saw smoke coming from under the hood, righted the car and
removed the two passengers, then extinguished the fire. The men were Oliver and Donald
Jenks of Center Road, Kendall; Robert Brien of Upper Road, Holley, and Lawrence Erbe of
Kendall Mills Road, Morton. BELLAMY was pronounced dead at the scene by Dr. Walter Shifton
of Albion, Orleans County coroner, who said death was caused by a fractured skull. Police
said the door on the passenger side of the car apparently opened, then closed on the
victim’s head as the car rolled over.
BELLAMY, an employee of the New York State Electric & Gas Corp., for the last four years and most recently working out of Albion, was a United States Army veteran and was a member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Medina Eagles. Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar BELLAMY Sr., of Church St., with whom he lived; two sisters, Mrs. Onnalee PRITCHARD and Mrs. William ELSTER of Medina; one brother Ronald of Shelby. Also, his maternal grandfather, Jacob KNOOP of Cuba., N.Y.; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. The Rev. R. S. G. Bradshaw, priest-in-charge of St. John’s Episcopal Church, officiated at funeral services this afternoon at the Thibault Funeral Home. Burial was in Evergreen Lawn Cemetery in Akron.

Miss Jennie BELSON died at her home No. 336 South Avenue, yesterday afternoon, after a brief illness. Sho suffered a slight stroke about a week ago and following a severe stroke a few days later she was unconscious until her death. The second attack occurred between the frequent calls of neighbors who by kindly attentions showed their regard and esteem for her. Miss BELSON was 63 years of age and had resided at her South Avenue home for about fifteen years.
She was born in Orleans County and was the daughter of Mark and Mary BELSON. She is survived by cousins, Mrs. William CORFF, Eugene BELSON and Freemont BELSON of Shelby, Edmond BENSLEY of Medina, Henry BELSON of Albion and others residing at a distance.
Miss BELSON was a lady of quiet yet kind and friendly manner, whose character and pleasant ways won for her the esteem and regard of her neighbors and many friends and acquaintances.
Funeral services will be held at St. Mary's Church at nine o'clock Friday morning, followed by interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

The subject of this notice, who died of erysipelas, at the residence of his son-in-law, Henry A. FAIRMAN,
in this village on Saturday morning, Oct. 29th aged 69 years, was well known to many of our readers,
and was at one time one of Medina's most active and influential business men.
Dr. Benjamin was born at Bridgeport, Vt., Nov. 10, 1812 and came to Medina in 1833. He studied medicine here with Drs. Hill and Northrup in 1835; also with Dr. Barnes, of Lockport, N.Y., in 1837. He then entered Willoughby Medical College, at Willoughby, Ohio, remaining there until he graduated. He was married to Miss Anna BENT, daughter of the late Elijah BENT, Esq., of Shelby, N.Y., January 2nd 1839. Practiced medicine in Medina until 1856, when he went to California, going around the Cape. Practiced medicine while there; returned to Medina in 1860 where he remained one year and then returned to California, staying there two years, and returning to Medina in 1864. During that year he purchased a drug store in Rochester, N.Y.; in 1865 sold out the drug store to the Cooper Bros., who now occupy and carry on the drug business at the same place. Returned to California the same year and purchased a drug store at Oakland. Sold out the drug store in Oakland in 1871 and purchased land in Vineland, N.J. In 1877 he went to California and Washington Territory, remaining there one year and then returned to Vineland. In 1880 he sold his land in Vineland and purchased a drug store in Fulton, N.Y. His health failing he sold out his store the latter part of 1880 and went to Fort Worth, Texas, for the winter and spring, returning to Medina in July 1881, apparently restored to health. Deceased was a member of Medina Lodge No. 336 F. and A. M. and its First Worshipful Master. He was also a charter member of three other Masonic Lodges and was preparing a lecture to be delivered before the lodge here at the time of his illness.
His wife, and also his daughters, Mrs. H.A. FAIRMAN and Mrs. A. M. BABSON, survive him. The funeral services were held at Mr. FAIRMAN's residence, on Park Avenue, on Monday, Rev. Mr. Dennis officiating, and the remains deposited in Boxwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Addie W. BENNETT, died at her home in Ridgeway Tuesday, July 26th, after an illness of several weeks, the immediate cause of death being cancer of the throat, the most skillful medical attention and the most careful nursing failing to afford permanent relief.
Deceased was a daughter of J. E. TOMPKINS , and had always resided in the town of Ridgeway where she was born September 3, 1855. She was educated in the Medina Academy. Was a member of the Baptist Church, and was a beautiful christian, a faithful wife, and a kind and loving mother.
In 1882 Mrs. BENNETT was united in marriage to Alfred BENNETT, who survives with four children - Mrs Erwin B. AMES, Daniel D., Ralph J., Enrique G. - who have the universal sympathy of our community in their sad bereavement. Rev. F. T. Latham officiated at the funeral services which were held at the residence. Interment at West Ridgeway Cemetery.

Lyndonville - Funeral services for Benjamin Franklin BENNETT, 77, who died suddenly Saturday noon of a heart attack in his home on North Main Street, will be held tomorrow at 2:30 o'clock from the Warne Funeral Home. Rev. H.A. Depfer will officiate, and burial will be in Lynhaven Cemetery.
Mr. BENNETT was born June 2, 1865 on the Lake Road, Town of Yates, and resided for a number of years in Medina, where he was employed in a furniture factory. Eight years ago he moved to his present home in Lyndonville. His first wife, Mrs. Clara (BACON) BENNETT, died, and he married Mrs. Mary (WOOLSTON) ROWLAND about twenty years ago, who survives him. He was a member of the Medina MEthodist Church, the Medina I.O.O.F. and the Lyndonville Grange.
Besides his wife he is survived by two daughters; Mrs. George BENZ of Medina, and Mrs. George ELLIOTT of Los Angeles, Calif.; and one step-daughter, Mrs. Leslie HENION of Lyndonville and fivce grandchildren.

County Treasurer, George W. BENNETT died Friday morning in his home in Eagle Harbor village, after an illness of about three years, aged 59 years. He was born in Eagle Harbor, April 6 (?), 1856, and had always lived there. His education was acquired in the public schools of that village, after which he took a commercial course of training at the Rochester Business Institute. After leaving school Mr. BENNETT was employed by the M. W. Tilden Company, wholesale produce dealers at Albion, for nine years as bookkeeper. In 1893, with his brother, James T. BENNETT, he established the Bennett Brother's grocery store in Eagle Harbor, which business he continued until the time of his death.
Mr. BENNETT was a charter member of Albion Lodge, No. 1.006, B. P. O. Elks. From early manhood he was promiently identified with Republican politics of this county and Congressional district. He served his party at various times as chairman of the Orleans County Republican Committee and county leader of the Wadsworth forces during the height of the political career of ex-Congressman James W. Wadsworth.
Mr. BENNETT served the town of Gaines fifteen years as Justice of the peace, at Eagle Harbor. Sixteen years ago he became associated with the Orleans county treasurer’s office as deputy to George A. Newell, which position he served six years. When C. Royce Sawyer, of Albion, succeeded Mr. Newell in 1905, Mr. BENNETT continued as deputy for his six-year term and in 1911 was elected county treasurer to succeed Mr. Sawyer. He was re elected in 1914 for a three-year term.
Mr. BENNETT was well known politically and as a business man throughout Western New York. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Esther (WILTSE) BENNETT; his father, William H. BENNETT, now 84 years old, of Eagle Harbor; one sister, Mrs. Emma FREER, of Canadaigua, and four brothers, James T. and Lorain, of Eagle Harbor; John C. BENNETT, of Victor, and William L. BENNETT, of Medina. The funeral was held from the family home in Eagle Harbor Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. H. W. McDowell, of Fulton, officiating. Burial was in Mt. Albion Cemetery.

Lyndonville - Mrs. Mary BENNETT, 85, died Thursday p.m. at the Green Acres Nursing Home in Albion where she had been a patient since October 18. She had been in failing health for the past two years. Born in the Town of Yates March 22, 1869, the daughter of Edward and Jennie PETRIE WOOLSTON, she had spent practically her entire life in Lyndonville and vicinity.
Mrs. BENNETT was an active member of the Lyndonville Presbyterian Church, the Presbyterial Society and the Worthwhile Class. She was also a member of the Lyndonville Subordinate Grange No. 1146, and had served this organization as musician for many years.
Surviving are, one daughter, Mrs. Leslie HENION, Lyndonville, one granddaughter, Mrs. Gordon RITTERBRANDT, Albion, one half-sister, Mrs. Mark Barry; Lyndonville and two great-grandchildren, also several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the Smythe Funeral Home in charge of Rev. Richard Billingsley, pastor of the Presbyterian Church. Burial will be made in the Lynhaven Cemetery.

William H. BENNETT, aged 89 years, died on Friday last at his home at Eagle Harbor. Mr. Bennett appeared to be in his usual health that day, and after his noonday meal lay down to take a nap. from which he did not awake. He is survived by four sons and a daughter, James T. BENNETT, of Eagle Harbor, William L. and L. G. BENNETT, of Medina, John C. BENNETT, of Holcomb, N.Y., and Mrs. Hiram W. FREER, of Canandaigua, besides eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mr. BENNETT, was born in England and for the past 68 years he had been a resident, of Eagle Harbor. He was a member of the Wesleyan Methodist church.

Died, in Brooklyn, December 10th, Mrs. A. BENSON, wife of Mr. M. (Myron) BENSON, formerly of this place. The remains were brought here on Saturday. The funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church, Sabbath afternoon, Rev. S. M. McGerald, officiating. It was the design of their pastor, Rev. Chas. M. Griffin, of Brooklyn, to accompany the friends here and preach the funeral discourse, but was prevented on account of sickness. He sent, however, the following letter to be read at the services, which is not only so truly appreciative, but which coincides so perfectly with the feelings of all who knew the deceased, that we herewith publish it:

Funeral services for George J. BENSON, 66, well known resident of Knowlesville, whose death occurred suddenly at his home in that village Saturday, will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock from his late home. Rev. Arthur Gregson, pastor of the First Methodist Church of Medina will officiate. Burial will be in West Shelby Cemetery (Mt. Pleasant Cemetery).
Born in West Shelby, November 7, 1873, Mr. Benson was for many years a resident of Medina. For 25 years he was connected with the grocery business covering a large section of the country for a wholesale firm. Six years ago he purchased a grocery store in Knowlesville and has operated it since that time. He was a member of Orleans Lodge of Odd Fellows.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Henrietta TROW BENSON; one son, Clayton BENSON of Rochester; two granddaughters, Gloria and Barbara BENSON of Rochester; one brother Adelbert BENSON of West Shelby.

Died, at the home of his brother, Jesse, in West Shelby, Sunday, October 11th, 1903, George K. BENSON, aged seventy-eight years. The funeral was held at the house, Tuesday afternoon, at two o’clock, conducted by Rev. Mr. Clarkson of the Methodist Church, at Royalton. Interment at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
He is survived by two brothers, Jesse, of West Shelby, and Luther, of Shelby Center, besides a host of relatives to mourn his loss. He was a man of sterling character and exemplary habits, and always had a smile and good word for everyone.

Elizabeth Jackson BENT, widow of the late William BENT and daughter of Philip BURR and Sarah Christie JACKSON, was born in the town of Lyons, Wayne Co., N.Y., Sept. 23d, 1815, and departed this life in Lockport, N. Y. Feb. 26th, 1903. At the age of ten years she became a christian, having a remarkably clear and positive conversion to God, and when sixteen, commenced her chosen vocation as a teacher, which she continued until her marriage in 1836 to William BENT. She then joined the Methodist Church with him, and was a faithful member of that church until she was promoted to the "Church Eternal”. After her husband's death in 1890 she removed from Medina to Rochester, and her membership from that time has been in the Ashbury M. E. Church of that city, to which she was strongly attached. Her interest in the prayer and class meetings never waned, and her faith in God was unwavering. The text chosen for her funeral service was most appropriate: 2nd Tim., 4th chapter, 7th and 8th verses, “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course; I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness”.
Although living to an advanced age, she would never seem old, for not only was her mind strong and clear to the last, but her cheery smile, and hopeful word was a continual inspiration to her children and her friends. The bible was most precious to her, and during the last two months of her life, she committed to memory some more of its blessed promises. Her life is a beautiful illustration of a child’s conversion, and the steadfastness of a christian’s life for seventy-seven years. She leaves one son, Abbot J. BENT, of Monrovia, California, and one daughter, Mary Elizabeth BENT. Bereaved are they indeed; but a heritage is left to them more precious than silver and gold.

The death of Mrs. Hannah M. BENT occurred quite suddenly of heart failure on Tues. afternoon March 1 at her home on Pearl St., in the 84th year of her age.
Mrs. Bent was born 12/15/1814, in Saratoga County N.Y. At the age of ten yrs. she, with her parents moved to Shelby Basin, Orleans Co., N.Y. coming as far as Brockport by canal and the remainder of the trip by wagons, as neither railroad or canal then passed through Orleans County, the canal being completed here the following year, 1825. In May 1838 she was married to Don C. BENT and they settled in Shelby Center. Mr. BENT died 7/3/1875.
In April 1878, Mrs. BENT came to Medina to reside permanently. She joined the Methodist Church in Shelby Basin in 1830 when 16 years of age, and has been a member of the Medina M.E. Church through most of its existence.
Deceased is survived by one sister- Mrs. William UNDERHILL, of this place - one brother, a resident of Jackson, MI and one granddaughter- Mrs. Dewitt C. GREEN of Buffalo. Funeral services will be held at the residence at 2 o'clock this afternoon.

He leaves a wife (Elizabeth BURR) and one daughter.

Lyndonville - The death of Albert Edward BENTEEN, 31, occurred Thursday at his home on the Lower Lake Road, where he was born on June 13, 1910, and had lived his entire lifetime. While in poor health for more than a year, his death came unexpectedly. He was the only son of Fred and Lavina WATERSON BENTEEN.
Besides his paretns, he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Stanley YOUNG of Medina, and Mrs. Mayfield WILLIAMS of Abilene, Texas. Funeral services will be held from the home on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. Rev. E.P. Gill officiating.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow from Barnes-Tuttle Funeral Home for Mrs. Esther S. BENTHIN, who died Friday in St. Jerome's Hospital, Batavia. The Rev. Reginald Cory will officiate and burial will be in Albion Cemetery. Mrs. BENTHIN was born in Hammondsport Jan. 13, 1899. She had resided in Medina for fifteen years and she was a member of First Methodist Church and the Philathea Class of that church. She was also a member of Welcome Rebekah Lodge and the Women’s Christian Temperance Union.
Survivors include her husband, Nicholas, of 572 East Ave., and one brother, Charles H. SLATER of Hammondsport, several nieces and nephews. Friends may make contributions to the local unit of American Cancer Society.

Albion - John D. BENTHIN, 83, a retired farmer and apple evaporator operator who has lived most of life in the Town of Barre, died yesterday (Aug. 31, 1949), at his home in Barre Center. A native of the Town of Royalton in Niagara County, he moved to Barre at an early age. He was a member of the Barre Grange.
He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Wilma DENLER of Kenmore; two sons, Nicholas and Alton BENTHIN, both of Barre; a brother, Albert BENTHIN of Medina, and two grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Merrill Funeral Home at 134 E. State St., Albion, where services are to be held at 2:30 p. m., Saturday. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery here.

Lyndonville - Mrs. Bertha Estella BENTLEY, 82, died early Saturday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. Leslie YOUNG, Hopewell, New Jersey.
Mrs. BENTLEY was born in Ashwood, October 31, 1870, the daughter of John and Sophronia SAILING CAIN. On Oct. 31, 1889, she married Fred S. BENTLEY, Lyndonville. Mr. BENTLEY died in June of 1936 while serving as supervisor of the Town of Yates. Mrs. BENTLEY was a member of the Lyndonville Methodist Church, the Copia Society, and the L.F.T. Sunday School Class of the church. She was also a former member of the Lady Maccabees.
Surviving are one son, Stanley C. BENTLEY, Lyndonville, and one daughter, Mrs. YOUNG, in whose home she was spending the winter; also one brother, Samuel CAIN, Rochester; five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one niece. Funeral services will be held in the Smythe Funeral Home here at 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon, with the Rev. Raymond H. Draffin of the Methodist Church officating. Burial will be in Lynhaven Cemetery.
Mr. and Mrs. Stanley C. BENTLEY flew home from Florida Saturday night to attend his mother's funeral.

Fred D. BENTLEY, 67, died at his home in Maple avenue Friday afternoon, June 19, 1936, after an illness of several weeks. Mr. BENTLEY was born in the town of Yates August 15, 1868, a son of the late Norman and Lucy BENTLEY. He received his education at Yates academy and for many years was an extensive fruit grower and farmer. At the time of his death he was serving his fourth term as supervisor of the town of Yates, having been chairman of the board for two terms. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church, Yates Lodge, 675, F. & A. M., Lyndonville Lodge, 923, I. 0.0. F., and Yates Encampment.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Estella CAIN BENTLEY; a son, Stanley C. Bentley; a daughter, Mrs. Ruby YOUNG of Trenton, N. J.; two brothers, Scott of Buffalo and Q. V. Bentley of Lyndonville, and five grandchildren. The funeral was held in the home on Monday afternoon and was largely attended. Rev. F. Mittlefehldt officiated and burial was in Lynhaven Cemetery.

Albion - Mrs. Harriet (DALTON) BENTLEY, 80, a native of Kentucky and a resident of Albion for over 50 years, died yesterday at the Green Acres convalescent home after a short illness. She was a member of the Albion Baptist Church, and was the widow of Nelson J. BENTLEY. She leaves two nephews and several nieces.
Friends may call at the Grinnell Funeral Home at 230 S. Main St., Albion, where the Rev. Earle I. HAMLIN will conduct services at 2 p m. Friday. Burial will be in Mt. Albion Cemetery.

Shelby Man Ends Life With Gun, Found Near Car In Woods
Dr. Samuel R. Patti, Chautauqua County coroner, at 11:30 last night issued a certificate
of death by suicide, in the case of James Franklin BENTLEY, 52, of Shelby, whose lifeless
body was discovered at 3:10 yesterday in a state parking lot off Route 5, three miles west
of Silver Creek.
The body of the Shelby man was discovered by Lester Ampt, 20, of Aurora, Illinois, apparently a short time after he had taken his life by discharging a .20 gauge shotgun into his chest. The Illinois man and his wife, who had been honeymooning in the state, stopped their car in the parking area and proceded down a wooded section to get a better look at Lake Erie. Mr. Ampt observed Bentley’s body lying by the car and returned to the highway. Police Officer Donald Zeiser of Fredonia, a member of the Town of Sheridan Police Force, was passing at the time and Ampt told him that he had noted a man lying in the rear of a parked car but had made no further investigation.
Officer Zeiser investigated and discovered the body. He stated today that the suicide must have taken place within three-quarters of an hour as he had patrolled the area at 2:30 p.m. and the car was not there at that time. Apparently Mr. BENTLEY had placed the gun against his chest and used a stick, which was lying nearby, to release the trigger. Coroner Patti was notified and had the body removed to the Brooks Memorial Hospital at Dunkirk. An autopsy showed that Mr. BENTLEY was suffering from a malignant chest tumor.
For the past 12 years Mr. BENTLEY had been employed by H. J. Heinz Co. here in their employment Department. He was also a part-time salesman for the Albion Motor Sales Co. and yesterday was driving a ear belonging to this company. Gilbert J. Francis, sales manager for the concern said that BENTLEY came into the salesroom the latter part of last week and took the used 1951 car explaining that he wanted a prospective customer to try it. He had not been seen since. He added that the Shelby man was in a 'jovial and good mood' at the time. Mr. BENTLEY did not report to work for the H. J. Heinz Co. yesterday. Assisting in the investigation in Chautauqua County were Undersheriff Lawrence Weeks and Sheriff Deputy Dale Campaign.
Mr. BENTLEY was born in Medina, February 28, 1903, and had resided in this vicinity his entire life. He was a member of Medina Lodge of Moose and the Medina Conservation Club in which he had taken an active interest. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Harriett (SCHRADER) BENTLEY, town clerk of the Town of Shelby, a son Brian, his mother, Mrs. Laura (JOHNSTON) LIDDLE, all of Shelby and a brother, Howard, of Medina.
Funeral services will be held from the Barnes-Tuttle Funeral Home, Pearl St., where the body is resting, Friday, July 1, at 2 p.m. The Rev. Kenneth Baker of the Shelby Baptist Church will officiate and burial will be in Millville Cemetery.

greater part of her life at Shelby Center and Buffalo. She was a member of the Shelby
Center Baptist church. Mr. BENTLEY died in 1917. The only survivors of Mrs. BENTLEY are
tow(two) nephews, Howard and Milton REYNOLDS of Buffalo.

Lathera J., wife of Charles BENTLEY, died quite suddenly Sunday evening at her home on Catherine street. Deceased was fifty-three years of age and had been in poor health for a number of years. The funeral services were held yesterday afternoon and the remains were interred in Boxwood Cemetery. The family desire to extend thanks to their neighbors and friends for sympathy and aid rendered during their bereavement.

Lyndonville - Mrs. Leona E. BENTLEY, 35, wife of Wilbert BENTLEY, 5 Maple Avenue, died yesterday afternoon in the Medina Memorial Hospital following an illness of several months. Yesterday morning Mrs. BENTLEY gave birth to a daughter, her fifth child.
Born July 20, 1911, in the Town of Ridgeway, she was the daughter of Arthur and Claudia YOUNG. She was graduated from Lyndonville High School in 1931, and was married to Mr. BENTLEY on Jan. 27, 1932. Mrs. BENTLEY was a member of the Lyndonville Presbyterian Church, and of the Standby Class of the church, also a member of Yates Chapter O.E.S., Lyndonia Rebekah Lodge, Ladies Auxiliary of the Lyndonville Firemen, and of Yates Unit Home Bureau.
Beside her husband, she is survived by five children, Catherine, George, Fred, Rosemary, and Kathleen Frances; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur YOUNG of Medina; three sisters, Mrs. Frances BENTLEY and Mrs. Walter ECKLER of Lyndonville, and Mrs. Richard PARSELL of Niagara Falls; one brother, Arnold YOUNG of Medina; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held from the Smythe Funeral Home Friday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock, with the Rev. Thomas Tighe of the Presbyterian Church officiating, assisted by the Rev. Raymond Draffin of the Methodist Church. Burial will be in Lynhaven Cemetery.

Lyndonville - Quincey V. BENTLEY, 74, passed away at his home on Housel Avenue, this village, about noon Wednesday, December 13. Although he had been in failing health for over a year, he was about the house as usual, and his death came suddenly as he sat in a chair listening to the radio.
Born in the town of Yates, July 10, 1870, he was the son of Norman and Lucy BENTLEY and had lived all his life in this locality. He was a veteran of the Spanish-American War and was a memner of Yates Lodge 675 F. & A. M.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Wilhelniba K(C)LEES BENTLEY; four sons, Louis, Wilbert and Charles of Lyndonville, and Carl of Buffalo; twelve grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 from Smythe Funeral Home. Rev. H.A. Depfer will oficiate and burial will be in Lyndonville.

Lyndonville - Wilhelminia A. (CLEES) BENTLEY, 72, long a resident of this village, passed away early today at her home on Housel Avenue, following a period of several years of poor health, the last two months of which had kept her in bed.
Born November 3, 1877, in Buffalo, she was the daughter of Rosetta and Carl CLEES and was married to Carl (error should be Quincey) BENTLEY in that city in 1902. After a year's residence there, the couple moved to Lyndonville where she has resided the remainder of her lifetime. Mr. BENTLEY died in December 1944. A member of the Presbyterian Church here, Mrs. BENTLEY was active in the Worthwhile Class of that church and also a member of Yates Chapter 215, Order of Eastern Star.
Her survivors include three sons, Carl, of Buffalo, and Wilbert and Charles of Lyndonville. Another son, Louis, died in September 1946. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Rosetta SCHULTZ and Mrs. Katherine YOUNGMAN, both of Buffalo; three nieces, Mrs. Anna LINDEKI and Mrs. Arthur RATHMAN, of Buffalo, and Mrs. Lloyd LOKE of Lyndonville, and 13 grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday at 2 p.m. from the Smythe Funeral Home, the Rev. Thomas TIGHE of the Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in Lynhaven Cemetery.

Deceased was born in Germany in 1839 and is survived by six children. Mrs. Joseph BEILSTEIN, Mrs. John GOTTWEIN and Mr. John BENZING, all of Buffalo; Mrs. Morton HUTCHINSON of Lancaster, Mr. George BENZING of Erie, Pa., and Mrs. George A. COLBURN of this village; also fifteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Burial will be in Mt. Albion Cemetery on Thursday afternoon November 18th.

News has been received in Albion of the sad death of Miss Nellie BERESFORD, the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David H. BERESFORD of this place, in New York City on Sunday night (18 Feb 1900), aged 23 years. Miss BERESFORD died in the Mt. Sinai Hospital, where she was taking a course in the training school for nurses. She had completed all but two weeks work in the course before her graduation, when taken ill with scarlet fever and diphtheria, contracted in the contagious ward where she was at the time on duty. She leaves besides her parents a brother, Robert T. BERESFORD, a student at Princeton University, and a sister, Miss Grace BERESFORD of this place. The remains were brought to Albion today for burial.

George BERGEMAN, 60, a former resident of this area, died suddenly at his home in Manistique, Mich., last Sunday morning. Mr. BERGMAN was born and spent his earlier life in Orleans county, but for the past 25 years had made his home in Michigan.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret CLIFF BERGEMAN; two sons, Clifford BERGEMAN of Franklinville, N. Y., and Marshall BERGMAN of Pontiac, Mich.; and two brothers, William BERGEMAN of Rochester and Homer BERGEMAN of Waterport. A son, Lieut. Carl BERGEMAN of Albion was killed in action during World war II in the European theatre, where he was serving with the infantry. Funeral services were held at his home in Michigan on Wednesday at 3 p.m.

The people of not only his church parish, but of our entire community, were greatly shocked Saturday evening by the sad news of the death of Rev. Father BERKERY, the popular rector of St. Mary’s Church, as the result of an attack of apoplexy. Father Berkery had apparently been in excellent health until taken with violent nausea after eating his dinner on the evening named, and died within half an hour.
Father BERKERY was about 55 years of age, having been born in Ireland in 1850, and was ordained at Niagara University in 1877, by Bishop Stephen Vincent Ryan and soon became rector of the parish at Perry, later at Belmont and then at Salamanca, from which place he came to Medina some four years ago. He leaves a mother, Mrs. Thomas BERKERY, a sister, Miss Nora BERKERY, and a nephew, Rev. Peter J. BERKERY, all of whom reside here.
The new St. Mary’s Church, the crowning work of the life of the dead priest was packed with mourners Tuesday morning when the solemn requiem of the dead was chanted over the remains. Some sixty dignitaries of church and priests from this and neighboring dioceses assisted in the sad offices. The church interior was fairly covered with emblems of mourning and great bands of black and white encircled the pillars and stretched in great long drapings to every part of the church, relieved by the purple of the church offices. The pastors of the Protestant churches of the village were present by special invitation, and the Knights of Columbus and the C. M. B. A. attended as organizations. Nearly every business place in town was closed. The augmented choir rendered a beautiful service.
Pontifical high requiem mass was said by the Right Rev. Bishop Colton as celebrant. Right Rev. Mon. Baker acted as assistant priest and Right Rev. Mong. Cannon, of Lockport, and Rev. Father Sullivan, of Albion, as deacons to the Bishops. Father Daniel Walsh and Father J. McGraw were deacons of the mass, and Rev. T. J. Walsh master of ceremonies. An eloquent eulogy was delivered by Rev. Father Biden, of Buffalo, and the “Schola Cantonum” was sung by the priests of the Buffalo diocese, under the leadership of Right Rev. Mgr. Lanagan, of Buffalo.
The active bearers were James H. Conley, J. W. Cooper, Michael Slack, C. J. Brennan, J. M. Touhey, Robert Maher and John Horan. The following priests were present and assisted in the solemn rites: Mon. Corrony, Buffalo; Mon. Lanigan, Mon. Hoelscher, of Buffalo; Mon. Cannon, of Lockport; Rev. Fathers W. J. McNab, Roach, Gilhooly, Diringham, Dyminski and Melli, of Niagara Falls; Michael Noonan, of Black Rock; Christopher O'Byrne, Buffalo; Jeremiah McGraw, Richard O’Connell, Drs. Nash and Heiter, of Buffalo; Thomas Barrett, of Salamanca, Leddy, Weise and Jacobs, of Locport; Mi_ le, of Middleport; Sullivan, of Albion; Story, of Brockport, McCarthy, of Holley; Very Rev. Father Likely, president of Niagara University, and Father Kennedy, of the same place; Fathers Wilbur, of Batavia and Quested of East Aurora.
After the mass was celebrated the body lay in state until the 3: 47 train, when it was taken to Perry where the interment occurred with suitable ceremonies in St. Joseph’s cemetery yesterday morning.

Rev. F. W. BERLIN, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal Church in Lyndonville, died at the parsonage Wednesday afternoon. He was operated upon for appendicitis several weeks ago, but there were serious complications and, although he recovered so as again to take up his work, yet he did not regain health. A week ago Sunday, he collapsed after the morning service and lost strength till the end.
He was appointed to Lyndonville last October, and took up the work with success. He was well known throughout Genesee Conference, and had been pastor at Spencerport, Honeoye Falls, Warsaw, Springville, and other places.
The funeral will take place from the church at 2 o’clock Friday afternoon.

A tribute to Mrs. Alice BERRY; who passed away in her home at Medina February 2, 1926, aged 66 years, 8 months. Mrs. BERRY was born at East Shelby, June 17, 1859, daughter of the late George and Annis PAGE TIMMERMAN. Her entire life was spent in this county, only while a pupil in the Brockport High School with her brother and sister. They all returned to this town and taught district schools and few equaled them as teachers.
On November 6, 1879 there was a double wedding celebrated in the M. E. Parsonage at West Barre. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Daniel Clark when J. Gardner BERRY and Alice A. TIMMERMAN, Dewitt W. Grinnell and Mary _uline Wiltse, were united in marriage. All are gone but Mr. BERRY.
The BERRYs moved to Medina three years ago. May 29, 1887, a daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. BERRY, Genevieve, who was taken away Dec. 26, 1890, aged three years, 6 month. On Nov. 6, 1904 they celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary at the BERRY farm home. Mrs. BERRY was a faithful member of the East Shelby M. E. Church for 45 years and was teacher of the Excelsior Class of the M. E. Sunday School for the young people for 28 years and was greatly beloved by her class. A beautiful piece of flowers were given by the members of her class.
She was a very benevolent woman. The minister and family always were welcome in her home and no traveler ever left her door hungry. She was a member of the Daughters of Revolution of Batavia and of the Eastern Star of Medina, also of the Red Cross and the Ladies' Aid, the Home Missionary Society and the Good Templars, the Woman's Christian Temperance Union. Her husband J. G. BERRY and daughter Betty and one sister are the surviving relatives and many friends who will mourn their loss. Funeral services will be conducted this afternoon at her home, Rev. L. L. Rogers of the M. E. Church officiating. Burial in Millville Cemetery.

Frank W. BERRY, born March 8, 1872, died of pulmonary tuberculosis August 28, 1905, aged 33 years. Mr. BERRY was the youngest son of John G. and Phydelia BERRY, both deceased. Although young in years, through the different avocations of life of which he was called to fill, he had endeared himself to many friends, who will sadly mourn his untimely death. In business and in the social circle he was esteemed for his manly integrity and sterling worth. Having suffered more or less affliction from early childhood, to his near friends he had become doubly dear. All that medical skill and loving hands could do was freely and lovingly done, but death had marked him for his own, and we are left to mourn.
The following couplet seems exceedingly appropriate:
“There is no flock, however watched and tended,
But one dead lamb is there;
There is no home, how-so-e'er defended,
But has one vacant chair.”
The deceased was married to Harriett TROW, of Knowlesville, N. Y., December 16, 1896, and to them one son was born. Both survive him and have the sincere sympathy of the entire community in their sad lose. The funeral services were held at the home August 30th, where a multitude of people gathered to pay their last respects to one they loved. Rev. J. E. Neal, of West Barre, assisted by Rev. G. E. Price, of Oakfield, officiated. The widow expresses her heartfelt thanks to those who contributed the great wealth of flowers.

Richard J. BERRY, 59, of W. Lee Road, died suddenly Wednesday evening in the Arnold Gregory Memorial Hospital. Born in Ellisburg, N.Y., he had lived in the Albion area for the past 18 years. Mr. BERRY was the first blind student to graduate from Brockport State University. He was a member of the VFW in Adams, N.Y. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict, stationed in Japan.
Survivors include his wife, Masako (Ginger) (nee SHIMIZU); two sons, Major Dale J. (Sandra) BERRY of Camp Pendleton, Calif. And Daniel L. BERRY of Albion; one daughter, Donna L. BERRY OF Arizona; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Rosie DALESKY and Mrs. Ruth SHAWNBURG, both of Pennsylvania; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family received friends Friday at Christopher-Mitchell Funeral Home Inc., 21 West Ave., where services were held Saturday. Burial was in Mt.Albion Cemetery, Companion Section with full military rites, (CVets 44A).

DIED - In Medina, at St. Mary's Seminary, Monday, May 1st, 1876, of consumption, Sister Bertrand, aged 31 years.
After a lingering illness, Sister BERTRAND departed this life on Monday last. She came to Medina at the formation of St. Mary’s Seminary, about three years ago, and has been here ever since. Sister BERTRAND was not an ordinary woman; possessed of all the christian graces, she exemplified them in the life she had devoted to her Master. In the midst of sickness and distress there could always be seen her sweet, beautiful face, smoothing the fevered brow as with an angel’s touch, and comforting those of little faith, with the Divine assurance of a better life beyond the grave. Though others may be found who will fill Sister Bertrand's place, the many noble offices she performed while on earth will ever remain fresh and green in the memory of those who knew and loved her best.
Solemn High Mass was celebrated at St. Mary's church at 10:30 Thursday morning by the following clergymen: Celebrant, Rev. W. J. McNab, of Medina; Deacon, Rev. T. A. Shaw, of the Seminary at Niagara; Sub-Deacon, Rev. T. B. O'Meara, of Medina; Master of Ceremonies, Rev. M. J. Darcey, of Lockport. A very able sermon was preached by Rev. K. Quigly, of St. Joseph's Cathedral, Buffalo. The final absolution was pronounced by the Very Rev. Wm. Gleeson, Vicar General of the Diocese of Buffalo. A large number of clergymen from abroad were present and participated in the ceremonies. Her remains were interred in St. Mary’s Cemetery, and were followed by the Young Men's Catholic Society, and a large concourse of sympathizing friends through the following streets: from the church to West street, up West to Center, Center to Main, Main to cemetery.

Prayer services will be held Thursday at 8:45 a.m. from the Gulinski Funeral Home, 420 Eagle St. A funeral mass will be said at 9 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church with the Rev. Joseph Rydz officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. The Rosary Society will meet at the funeral home at 8 p.m. tomorrow to recite the rosary.

She returned from Saranac Lake about a year ago and for the past few months had been confined to her bed. Besides her parents she leaves a brother, Ignacius, of Medina, and four sisters, three from Medina and one, Mrs. James KUJAVA, of Niagara Falls. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s Parochial School. The funeral was held Wednesday morning at Sacred Heart Church. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Lyndonville - Hiram E. BICKFORD, 78, died early this morning at his home, 40 Maple Ave. His death was unexpected since he had recently been active.
Born in South Alabama, Orleans County, Dec. 18, 1873, son of S. E. Bickford and Pamela SAXTON BICKFORD, he married Olive M. OUTWATER Sept. 11, 1901, and they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last month. He was a millwright by trade and was engaged in the milling business until an injury in 1947 caused his retirement. Mr. BICKFORD was an active member of the Presbyterian Church here and also of Yates Lodge, 675, F. & A. M.
Surviving are his wife; one sister, Mrs. John REID of Niagara Falls, N. Y.; two brothers, Burt and George, both of Lockport, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at the Smythe Funeral Home Thursday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Billingsley officiating. Burial will be in Lynhaven Cemetery.

Mrs. Samuel J. BIDELMAN, aged 85 years, 10 months, 8 days, died Tuesday morning at her home near Quimby. She was born in New York State, and came to Michigan in an early day. She was for many years a resident of Grand Rapids. About 20 years ago she was united in marriage with Mr. BIDELMAN, who survives her. He is 90 years of age. She is survived by the following four daughters of a former marriage: Mrs. Nellie BUCHANAN, of Quimby; Mrs. M. L. DAGGETT, of Belmont; Mrs. John MORRIS and Mrs. S. M. BARROWS, of Grand Rapids. She is also survived by an aged sister, Mrs. J. E. WAYCOTT, of Grand Rapids. Daughter of Levi CRAWFORD and Lucy PORTER.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 o'clock this Wednesday morning, Rev. F. J. BETTS officiating.
Mr. and Mrs. BIDELMAN became acquainted when both were boy and girl in the same locality in New York State. They separated and lost all track of each other until over 20 years ago, when they accidentally met. Mr. BIDELMAN was then a widower with children, and the acquaintance of his youth was a widow. Mr. BIDELMAN once served Barry County as representative in the state legislature, and as president of the Barry County Agricultural society. He is one of the most widely known residents of the central part of the county.

He leaves two sons, John BIDLEMAN of Lyndonville and Floyd BIDLEMAN of Lockport; three sisters, Mrs. Nellie FINCH of Attica, Mrs. Hattie CULVER of Grimsby, Ont. and Mrs. Henry GOODSELL of Medina.
The funeral was held Saturday afternoon in the home of his nephew, Fred GOODSELL, Medina. Rev. W. A. HERZOG, officiating. Burial was in West Shelby cemetery (Mt. Pleasant Cemetery).

Martha Parker was born in the township of Shelby, Orleans County, New York, Sept. 16, 1828. She was married to Samuel BIDELMAN, of New York, in 1850, where they resided till 1855, when they moved to Branch Co., Mich. In 1860 they moved to Barry County, (Michigan) where she lived up to her death. Six children have blessed their union, four sons and two daughters, who are still living and were with her at the time of her passing away. She has been a great sufferer for the past eight months, but during that time she has never complained; but has always been cheerful and patient hoping for the best. She was a kind and loving mother, a good neighbor and respected by all. While we deeply mourn her loss, we feel that it is her eternal gain.

The funeral services for Mrs. Mary BIDELMAN were held at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. W. J. CULVER, on Hedley street, at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. The service was brief and impressive, especially the playing of “Nearer My God to Thee.” on the piano, by Miss Alice Louise Chase. The casket was banked with flowers, the offering of the many friends of the deceased as an evidence of their affection. Charles BRACE, L. A. BRACE, Laverne HILL, Casey Wayland HILL and Porter Stocking, acting as bearers, bore the remains to Mt. Pleasant Cemetery at West Shelby, where was laid to rest a devoted and loving mother, sister and loyal friend.
Deceased was a daughter of Norman and Catherine BRACE, one of a family of thirteen children. She was born on the 22nd day of June, 1836, and leaves three brothers, J. A. BRACE, of Kendallville, Ind., L. A. BRACE, of Eau Claire, Wis., J. N. BRACE, of this village, and two sisters, Mrs. Louisa SANDERSON, of Shelby, and Mrs. Ruth HILL, of Albion, also one son and three daughters, with several grandchildren and one great-grandchild, who will hold her in loving memory.

Aged Pioneer Resident Near Quimby for 55 Years

Samuel J. BIDELMAN, aged nearly 90 years, died on Friday evening at his home in Quimby. He had been in failing health for some time. Mr. BIDELMAN was at one time one of the widely known men of Barry County, having at one time been prominent in public life.
Funeral services were held in Quimby at two o'clock on Monday afternoon, Rev. R. E. YOST officiating. Burial took place in Sponable cemetery.
Samuel J. BIDELMAN was born in Orleans County, N. Y., June 6, 1825. He received a common school education and learned the carpenter's trade. In 1855, he came to Michigan, settling in Branch County. In 1860, he removed to Barry County where he resided for 55 years in the vicinity of Quimby.
In 1850 Mr. BIDELMAN was united in marriage with Martha PARKER. To them were born the following children: Charles, Frank, Walter, William, Mrs. Charles CASTELEIN and Mrs. Whit BENHAM, the latter being deceased. These children were given liberal educational advantages.
Mrs. Martha BIDELMAN died in 1891. In 1894 Mr. BIDELMAN was married to Mrs. Caroline BARROWS, an acquaintance of his youthful days in New York. She died several months ago.
Mr. BIDELMAN held nearly every township and several county offices. In 1881 and 1882 he was a member of the lower house in the state legislature. He was prominent in politics, having been a life-long republican. He was president of the Barry County Agricultural Society and also served as republican county chairman.
Mr. BIDELMAN descended from Germans, who settled in New York before the revolution. some of his ancestors served in the war of independence. He was a thrifty, energetic citizen. Until his death he took an active interest in national politics and never became a 'back number'. To him the newspapers were read completely every day.
At the annual reunions of the BIDELMAN family, he was always the central figure. He leaves five children, 36 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and four great, great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother and sister, who reside in Coldwater.

Born in Plock, Poland, he had resided in Medina for forty-six years. 'Whitey', as many knew him, was part-owner of the Silver Dollar Restaurant. He married the former Martha GURZENSKI of Albion. Mr. BIELAK was a communicant of Sacred Heart Heart Church and a member of the Sacred Heart Society, Knights of Columbus Council 651, the Loyal Order of Moose, American Legion, Conservation Club and the Liquor Association.
He is survived by his wife, Martha; three daughters, Mrs. John (Eleanor) , Mrs. Frank (Helen) MAURAGIS of Medina, Mrs. Leo (Dorothy) KAISER of Lockport; two sons, Anthony Jr. and Donald at home. Also, two brothers, Edward and Burt of Medina; two sisters, Mrs. Maynard RAISNER of Medina and Mrs. Edgar MARSHALL of Miami, Fla.; eight grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received tomorrow afternoon at the Gulinski Funeral Home, 420 Eagle St., where funeral services will be held at 9:45 a.m. Monday and at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery with the Rev. Simon Alexsa officiating.

The death of Staff Sergeant Anthony C. BIERNACKI, 24, a member of Co. F, 108th Inf. 40th Division, occurred this morning in the Veteran's Hospital, Batavia, where he was taken on Thursday of last week suffering from a streptococcal infection of the throat. Sgt. BIERNACKI arrived in Medina on April 19th to spend a furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank BIERNACKI, 166 Gulf St. He left Medina with F Co. in October 1940 and has served continuously in the Army since that time. He last saw service on Luzon Island in the Philippines and was granted a rotation furlough to his home. He was taken ill last week..
Born in Medina he was educated in the Medina schools. Prior to his entry into active service he served as a steward at the Sacred Heart Club of which organization he was a member.
He is survived by his parents, four sisters, Mrs. Helen KURDZIEL, Martha, Sophie and Bernice, all of Medina, and three brothers, John and Stanley of Medina, and Sgt. Edward BIERNACKI with the 1st Calvary in the Pacific Area. Funeral arrangements have not been completed.

The funeral of Don J. BIGELOW, late director and treasurer of the S. A. Cook Company, was held from the family residence, 204 West Center street, Saturday afternoon, under the auspices of the local Masonic Lodge. Rev. Charles Chapin, of the Presbyterian church, offered prayer, followed by Rev. C. B. Sparks, of the Episcopal church, who delivered the ritualistic prayer of the Masonic Order. Former Senator Irving L'Hommiedieu delivered the Masonic eulogy. The floral tributes were many and beautiful; and the services very impressive.
Interment was made at Boxwood Cemetery; a large number of the Masons attended, and had charge of the ceremonies at the grave. The honorary bearers were: Messrs. LeValley Helenbolt, Fred Howell, William Taylor, Charles Brown, George Carpenter, Edward DeLong, Claude Howell, and William C. Rowley. The active bearers were : Messrs. S. A. Ross, A. G. Phillips, Harry E. Rowley, Homer J. Luther, John L. Sheldon, Jr. and Thomas H. Agnew.

retired several years ago and has since made his home in Millville. Rev. Kenneth Baker

Local Correspondence - Lyndonville. Dennis BIGFORD, at Carlyon, died last Thursday afternoon, after a brief illness, aged eighty-one years. A singular accident occurred at his burial, at Kenyonville. As the bearers were about to lower the coffin, the side of the grave caved in, and Gideon Houseman and Parker Sargeant fell in and were somewhat injured.

Funeral services will be held in the Thibault Funeral Home, 1008 South Main Street, tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o’clock for Frank F. BIGFORD, 93, whose death occurred in the Arnold Gregory Hospital, Albion, on Saturday. The Rev. Donald Labigan of Geneva, a grandson, will officiate and burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemeteryat West Shelby.
Mr. BIGFORD owned and operated the farm known as the Bigford Homestead, on the Bigford Road for the past sixty years. He celebrated his 93rd birthday on August 3rd of this year. Born in the Town of Shelby Mr. BIGFORD engaged in farming all his life.
He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. William EWALD of Medina, Mrs. Fannie PETERS, of Rochester and Mrs. Florence LABIGAN of Geneva and two sons, Charles BIGFORD of Winter Haven, Florida, and Samuel BIGFORD of Medina, also 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Lemuel C. BIGNALL died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. William B. ROBBINS, on Tuesday morning last - September 29th, 1903 - at the age of seventy - four years. Deceased had for years been afflicted with that dread disease, diabetes, but the immediate cause of death was paralysis, with which he was stricken for the third time on Thursday last.
Mr. BIGNALL was born in Tyre, N. Y., September 11th. 1829 and was the second of a family of seven children. The family removed to Michigan, where the earlier years of his life were spent. Returning east at the age of eighteen years, deceased settled in Seneca Falls, where he afterward engaged in the grocery business. Becoming interested in the pump manufacturing business of a Seneca Falls firm, he disposed of his stock of goods, and entered upon a line which proved to be a successful life work. Later he became associated with the Holly Manufacturing Company, of Lockport, and in 1862 formed a partnership with his brother, Moses C. Bignall, establishing the Bignall Manufacturing Company in this place. This company was the most successful of the early industries of Medina, and perpetuates the name of the honored Bignall brothers who founded it. Deceased remained at the head of the organization until July, 1894, when he retired from active business, removing to Holland, Mich., where he became interested in real estate. When engaged in active business the deceased was one of Medina's most progressive and enterprising citizens, hospital and generous, lending his aid to every good work and project.
On July first, 1853, Mr. BIGNALL was married to Margaret FREELAND, of Seneca Falls, who died in 1888. Besides one daughter - Mrs. ROBBINS - he is survived by two brothers - S. L. BIGNALL, of Fowlerville, Mich., and B. B. BIGNALL of Elgin Ill.
The funeral occurred at the residence yesterday afternoon, Rev. Dr. J. E. Williams officiating. A large representation of the Masonic fraternity of which deceased was an old and highly esteemed member, was in attendance and the ritual of the order was observed. The interment was at Boxwood Cemetery.

Relatives in Albion received word of the death of George Newton BILLINGS at his home in Delphos, Kansas. Mr. BILLINGS was born in East Carlton, now Kent, this county, in 1845, the son of Joseph DRAKE and Melinda (SHAW) BILLINGS. He passed his boyhood in East Carlton and at the age of 16 enlisted in the Union Army at the first call for volunteers. He served throughout the Civil War, and when he was mustered out was first sergeant in Company C, 8th New York Heavy Artillery, Grant's Army of the Potomac.
Soon after the war, Mr. BILLINGS went to Kansas and bought a farm. He returned to Albion and married Grace BEDELL. After a few years of farm life in Kansas, Mr. BILLINGS joined the State Bank of Delphos as its cashier. Eventually he acquired ownership of the bank, retaining his position as cashier, and operated the institution for more than half a century. Mr. BILLINGS was an ardent outdoor man and he knew the West in its rougher days of pioneering and Indian wars. He was exceptionally adept in the use of firearms, and his skill as a hunter of American wild game was noted. He numbered among his trophies heads of bison, grizzly bear and nearly every other animal to be found in the Rockies.
One of Mr. BILLINGS' close friends was the late John HICKS, the original of the cowboy hero in Owen WISTER's western romance, "The Virginian".
Last Summer, and in the Summer of 1928, Mr. BILLINGS, despite his advance age, made the long trip east by automobile with his son, Harlow D. BILLINGS, and visited in Albion and Rochester.
Mr. BILLINGS leaves his wife, Mrs. Grace (BEDELL) BILLINGS; a son, Harlow D. BILLINGS; three grandsons, George M., Arthur G. and Roger D. BILLINGS, all of Delphos; a sister, Dr. Cora (BILLINGS) LATTIN of Albion; two nephews and a number of cousins.

life had been passed in Medina. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Frank WATERMAN,
Mrs. Algernon SHATTUCK, of Medina, Mrs. Hugh HULBURD, of Cleveland, O., and seven grand-children,
two great grand-children and one niece. The funeral will be held at the home of her daughter,
Mrs. Frank WATERMAN, 1108 West avenue, this (Thursday) afternoon at 3:30, Rev. J. J. Allen
officiating. Interment will be at

Mrs. Henry M. BINGHAM
Mrs. Ella ROGERS BINGHAM, widow of Henry M. BINGHAM and longtime
resident, died Saturday in her residence on W. Park St. She had returned there
recently from Arnold Gregory Memorial Hospital, where she had been under care for a broken
hip sustained several weeks ago in a fall at home. Her age was 88.
Mrs. BINGHAM, the former Ella Cornelia Rogers, was born in the Town of Albion Jan. 27, 1852 to Edson B. ROGERS, native of Albion, and the former Lucinda ROCKEFELLER, who originated in Albany County. In January, 1932 she and Mr. BINGHAM celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary just before his death the following April. They had lived practically all of the time in the vicinity of Albion and Barre Center.
A member of Barre Center Presbyterian Church, she had been a teacher of its Loyalty Class for many years as well as president of its missionary society. In recent years she had belonged to the Eltekon Class of Albion Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Gaines Grange. The funeral service took place Monday afternoon at her
late home, with the Rev. Irvin Kelley and the Rev. Lewis ROGERS of Buffalo, a cousin, officiating. Interment was made in Mt. Albion Cemetery. The nearest surviving relatives are a daughter, Mrs. Delbert WELLS of Barre Center, and one granddaughter, Elizabeth WELLS, Barre Center.

Funeral service was held in the McNall mortuary Wednesday afternoon for Miss Helen L. BINGHAM, 87, who died Monday morning in the Parker Convalescent Home, 112 South Clinton Street. The Rev. We. Nixon officiated and was assisted by the Rev. Donald McQueen of Morton, a friend of Miss BINGHAM.
Born in Vermont, she was a nurse in Binghamton for a number of years before coming to Albion about 25 years ago. She Leaves a niece, Mrs Howard BABCOCK of Gaines.

Edward Bird, 79, Succunbs A Month Following Brother
Edward BIRD, 79, well-known resident of Jeddo, died Sunday evening in the Medina Memorial
Hospital where he had been admitted earlier in the day. Mr. BIRD who had gone to Florida
to spend the winter, returned to his Jeddo home two weeks ago because of ill health. His
death accurred one month following that of his only brother, William BIRD, who died on
January 3.
Born July 22, 1866 in Jeddo, Mr. BIRD had resided in that vicinity practically his entire lifetime. He was a member of the Jeddo Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Lizzie; and one nephew, Horace BIRD of Jeddo. Funeral services will ne held from his late home on the County Line Road, on Thursday afternoon, the time of which has not been arranged.

It is not often that an event occurs which has so deeply touched the hearts of our community as the death of Fred BISHOP, the youngest son of Dr. R. (Robert) S. BISHOP. He was a boy whom everyone loved. Bright and cheery in manner, affectionate in disposition, singularly pure and unselfish in character. He won friends everywhere. The same qualities caused the hearts of his parents to be bound up in him. He had been carefully trained in a christian home, and though young, was already giving evidence of a deep personal interest in Christ, which promised to develop into an earnest and useful Christian life.
But God had a place for him different from any that his earthly friends foresaw. He had gone with his mother to visit relatives in Henry, Illinois. There he met a lad his age, and of similar character, the son of the Rev. L. O. Thompson, pastor of the Presbyterian Church of that city, and the two became firm friend(s). Last Wednesday afternoon, July 16th, he went with Mr. Thompson and his son out on the river boating and fishing. There is a dam across the stream at this point, of no great height, easily crossed by steamboats at a certain season of the year. After a time the party had ceased fishing and were seen trying to row the boat up over the dam near the center of the river. Finding the current there to strong for their purpose they rowed along the foot of the falls, apparently seeking a place easier of ascent, and in doing so, the boat was caught in a whirling eddy and at once overturned. One sank immediately; the other two were seen to struggle a moment in the water and then were all gone. The alarm was at once given and a boat started for their rescue, but too late. Not till several hours after were the bodies of Mr. Thompson and his son recovered; and it was six o'clock the next evening, after hundreds had been searching the river and every expedient had been tried and failed, before the body of Fred was found, and then but a few rods from where the boat had been overturned. His brother, Dr. Frank A. BISHOP, of Hannibal, Mo. reached Henry shortly afterwards and his father during the night, and on Sunday morning the sad party returned to Medina with the remains of their boy.
The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the residence of his father. The large assembly testified to the sympathy everywhere felt for the afflicted family. The room where the remains were laid was filled with beautiful floral offerings and the casket also was covered with these tributes of affection from many friends. The pastor, Rev. E.P. Gardner, in his remarks spoke from the verse, "We look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are unseen," dwelling on the human and the divine aspects of this sad event, showing how, what on one side seemed a mere accident, a crushing sorrow, the failure of a life plan; on the other seen from the stand point of the Divine government, to which there are no accidents, no losses and no failures, must be part of a wise and loving purpose. Short as Fred's life was, in the Lord's sight it had accomplished its end. He had received that earthly training which was needed for his heavenly mission, and now he has gone to the life for which the Lord had designed him. A touching incident was connected with the closing hours of his life. The two boys were both sweet singers and though young, earnest christians and as they sat in the boat they were heard from the shore singing that familiar hymn, "In the sweet bye and bye, we shall meet on that beautiful shore." It was prophetic. The song was hardly ended when they were called to sing doubtless, of a glad reunion on the shore where death never comes. So had closed a young life bright with every promise. May faith in the Lord's love and the assurances of the human sympathy enable the afflicted family to bear their loss.

Dr. Robert Smithson BISHOP, whose life went out on the last day of the year 1896, was born
on November 23, 1831 at Paris, Oneida county, N.Y. He lived at home until his 21st year.
His mind was early turned to the study of medicine, which he commenced in 1860 and in 1863
was graduated from the Western Homeopathic Medical College of Cleveland, 0. He commenced
the practice of medicine in this city with his brother, the late David Fowler BISHOP, but
after two years in 1865, removed to Medina N. Y., where he enjoyed an active and extensive
practice for twenty-one years in that village and the surrounding country, embracing the
entire county of Orleans. He thus gained an extensive acquaintance, and was both popular
and successful as a physician. He was interested in educational matters, and for several
years was president of the Board of Education in Medina. Feeling the need of relaxation
from his arduous labors, and a change of occupation he was persuaded to enter the service
of the American District Steam Co., and in March, 1886 removed to Lockport, and was
elected president of that company, a position that had been held by his brother, Dr. D. F.
BISHOP, up to the time of his death. In his new position it became his duty in the
prosecution of the enterprise to travel many thousands of miles each year, and he thus
formed the acquaintance and he thus formed the acquaintance of many of the best business
men of the cities and towns which he visited. Indeed, few men living possessed a wider
business acquaintance throughout the northern and western states than did Dr. BISHOP. He
impressed himself upon the men whom he met by his intelligence and dignified demeanor, and
his evident honesty and integrity of character.
These labors continued until within a few weeks of his death, and the success which he achieved demonstrated his business ability and force of character. He early became a member of the Presbyterian Church, and upon removing to Lockport identified himself with the First Presbyterian Church of this city, being an active member of its board of trustees at the time of his decease. In this position he brought his business abilities successfully to bear, believing that the affairs of churches, like other institutions, should be managed on correct business principles. His religious character was demonstrated by his life, in which charity and quiet benevolence were mingled with a pure home life and the love of kindred and friends.
Dr. BISHOP was twice married, his first wife being Mary Louise HUTCHINS, who died soon after his removal to Lockport. He leaves to mourn his loss the widow, formerly Miss Katherine FITCH, and two sons, Dr. Frank A. BISHOP, of Hannibal, Mo., and Charles R. BISHOP of this city. He also leaves one brother, considerably older than himself, Joel Prentice BISHOP of Boston, a lawyer of distinction and the author of "Bishop on Contracts” and of other works which are held as high authority by the legal fraternity. The world can ill afford to loose such men, and Dr. BISHOP will be sadly missed in the community, in the family circle and from the church of which he was a zealous member. The funeral was attended from the family rooms in the Blackley Flats at 2 p. m. Sunday.

Funeral services for Mrs. Salvatora BISINGANNO, 50, who died at her Orient Street home Saturday, took place this morning at 9:00 o’clock from St. Mary’s Church. The Rev. James A. HOGAN officiated.
The deceased is survived by her husband, Joseph; one daughter, Mrs. Angelino SPANO, Rochester; four sons, Anthony, Corlo, and Samuel, Medina, and Sarto, Rochester; her mother, Mrs. Antionette ROTELLA, Italy; and two brothers, John and Anthony, Italy. Mrs. BISINGANNO had lived in Medina since 1913.
Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

A spectacular auto crash in the dead of night took the life of 36-year-old Samuel BISIGNANO, local war veteran and restaurant employee, at a spot about a mile west of here early Sunday. The one-car accident took place on the north edge of Maple Ridge Rd. (Route 31) and Orleans County. Undersheriff Gilbert L. HENDERSON placed the time at about 4 a.m. HENDERSON made an investigation at the scene with the assistance of Medina Police.
BISIGNANO’s path of travel when his 1955 car left the highway took him over 1,000 feet through an open field, over the lawns and driveways of two private homes, and further into another empty lot. The long, uncontrolled ride took car and driver headlong into the power poles and a guard post, and indicated a high rate of speed when BISIGNANO left the highway. The investigation revealed no other details about the cause of the mishap. Undersheriff HENDERSON said the tracks pointed out that BISIGNANO’s car literally flew through the air for a distance of 121 feet, and snapped off one power pole by hitting it about eight feet above the ground during the flight. The deceased driver had worked for nearly 20 years as a counter man at the Mayflower Restaurant, Main St., and had worked there until about 6 p.m. Saturday night, according to his employer, Glen CALAFATES. CALAFATES told authorities that BISIGNANO had returned to the restaurant about midnight to drive him home. They reached the CALAFATES house at about 12:15. People who knew BISIGNANO said they saw him in another local restaurant at about 1 a.m. His movements after that time are not known.
The undersheriff, after his investigation, said BISIGNANO was traveling eastward on Route 31 when the car left the north shoulder at a place just east of the Westwood Restaurant. The car continued parallel to the road as it sped across the lawns of the Lloyd GILDSMITH and Guy MONACELLI homes. With no traces of tire tracks on the GOLDSMITH lawn, it is felt that the car struck a small incline and was catapulted into mid-air, where it hopped 121 feet over the lawn and then landed again. Undersheriff HENDERSON and the coroner, Dr. Kenneth CLARK said the man died of a fractured skull. The driver was pronounced dead on arrival at Medina Memorial Hospital. BISIGNANO was traveling eastward presumably returning to the Walsh Hotel in Medina, where he lived.
The deceased was born in Medina, July 6, 1920, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph BISIGNANO. He was educated in local schools and served overseas with the Army during World War II. He was a member of the Butts-Clark Post, American Legion, and Lincoln Post Veterans of Foreign Wars. Surviving are three brothers, Carlo of Medina; Sandy in Calif., and Anthony of Niagara Falls. Also a sister, Angeline SPANO in Chicago, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. at the Cleary Funeral Home, Park Ave., and at 9 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
