WALDRON - At Millville, April 3d, 1876, Mrs. Abigail Waldron, aged 61 years.
Mrs. WALDRON was born in Middleburgh Schoharie Co., N. Y. Was
married at the age of twenty, to Mr. David S. WALDRON, of the same
place, and with him came to Shelby in 1838, residing for ten years in the
south part of the town, and for twenty-eight years past in Millville. The
whole community is bereaved in losing her. Her disease was a lingering
consumption. For several years she has been unable to take an active part
in church and society, or to perform her accustomed labors of love in
the care of her family; but her sick room has been a chamber of peace,
which none could enter without bearing away a lesson of patience and
submission. She was so unselfish and sympathetic that her greatest anxiety
was lest she should cause trouble or fatigue to those about her. In the
hours of severest bodily pain, her spirit was calm and rested in unshaken
confidence upon her Redeamer. Those about her could see that the "Form of
the fourth," who walked of old with his children in the fiery furnace, was
ever beside her. She gave herself to Him in youth, and for nearly half a
century has proved her sincerity by a simple, earnest, everyday following
of her Master. But such was her meekness and humility that one of Heaven's
sweet surprises for her will be the knowledge of the good wrought by her
unconscious influence.
Men may cavil at the Bible, and scoff at the ministry but such a daily life as hers they cannot gainsay. Of the loss which her family sustain it is not for others to speak. If we may estimate their affection for her by their untiring devotion during her long sickness, theirs is no common grief to be met with common phrases of condolence, but from many hearts the prayer will ascend, God comfort them.
Her funeral services were held on Wednesday, April 5th, at the Congregational church, of which she has long been a beloved member, and her body laid in the village cemetery, where already rest many of the early settlers or this town.
"None knew her but to love her,
None named her but to praise.”

We learn of the death of Mrs. Mary WALKER, an old resident of the town of Ridgeway. She has been an invalid the greater part of the past summer, but was not considered dangerous until about six weeks ago. About that time she went to visit her mother in the town of Alabama, (N.Y.) thinking perhaps a change of climate and the release from care would be beneficial. On her arrival in Alabama, a physician was sent for, who pronounced her case incurable, the disease being a large tumor on the liver. Being convinced that her days were numbered, she arranged all her business, made arrangements for her burial, and then calmly awaited the messenger. Sunday morning she breathed her last. She was a very estimable woman, and her loss will be felt throughout the entire community. The funeral services will be held today (Jan. 5th) in Alabama. The remains will be brought and deposited by the side of those of her husband.
DIED: WALKER - In Alabama, Genesee County, on the 3rd inst., Mrs. Mary WALKER, of Ridgeway, aged 5_ years, 4 months and 10 days.

near Fraser's Pharmacy Monday afternoon, January 22. He was taken to the hospital
where it was
found he had fractured his right leg just below the hip. Although his condition was
favorable
for several days, conplicationed developed and his resistance was too weak to insure
his recovery.
It is a coincidence that his sister, Miss Mary WARD, died a few years ago in a similar
way as a
result of a fall and a fractured leg.
Mr. WARD was born in the Town of Yates March 15, 1865, and had been a lifelong resident here. His home had been on Maple Avenue this village for many years. His wife, Mrs. Carrie GREENMAN WARD, died a little over a year ago.

The safety departments of the village were summoned at 3:15(?) o’clock by Fred Rorick of Oak Orchard on the Ridge, who heard calls for help at the back part of Boxwood Cemetery while he and his daughter were going into the caretaker’s house. Rushing toward the lake, the daughter saw a head in the water at the far side. Rorick attempted to save the boy by holding out a bush to him.
Firemen Frank Ranallo and Maxon arrived at Boxwood Cemetery as directed and then had to drive to Stork street on the far side of the lake. Chief Brainard of the police Department and Patrolman Tuohey arrived about the same time. After trying to reach the hole in the ice with a ladder, Chief Brainard Tuohey and Maxon began dragging from a boat which had been brought to the scene.
A sled was recovered first, identifying the victim as Frank WASIERSKI, Jr. Then, after an hour and a quarter of dragging, the body was brought to the surface. Father WATERS, as he was familiarly called, was born in Providence, Saratoga county, in this State, and moved to Eagle Harbor, in this Co., in 1836, where he was employed as miller in the stone mill for many years. Here he became well and favorably known to a large circle of friends as an affable, upright and christian gentleman. He was a member of the M.E. Albion, Sept. 21. - Residents of the hamlet of Kent were horrified this noon when they learned of murder and suicide committed by Frank WATERSTREET, one of the best-known and wealthiest residents of Kendall, who killed his 24-year-old son Fred and then placed the rifle with which he did the deed in his own mouth and shot himself to death.
WATERSTREET was about 60 years old and lived with his family on the Transit road northeast of Kent village. At 12:15 o’clock noon today his two sons, Fred, 24 years old, and William, 27 years old, were drawing a load of beans from the field to the barn when they observed their father coming down the lane toward them with a calibre repeating rifle.
It is said that Frank WATERSTREET attempted to end his life one year ago by taking laudanum while in the upper part of his barn, but that the attempt was frustrated by his son Fred WATERSTREET is said to have made threats recently to kill himself, and the young men, believing he would carry out his threat, dropped from the load of beans.
Fred approached his father and asked to have the gun turned over to him. When about thirty feet away he was instantly killed by a bullet from his father's gun, which the latter sent at his head and which pierced the left temple. As soon as William realized what his father had done he and his mother started for assistance, while Frank WATERSTREET gazed upon the dead body of the young man and began to weep. He then observed his wife (Minnie MILLER) and son William about fifteen rods away, and took aim and fired twice at them, but they dodged behind an outbuilding and saved their lives.
Frank WATERSTREET then put the butt of the gun on the ground, placed the muzzle in his own mouth and pulled the trigger, sending a bullet through the roof of his mouth. The ball passed out above the left ear. WATERSTREET dropped over backwards with the gun between his legs and pointing toward his head.
