On 23 Sep 1852 when Amanda Matilda was 19, she married Pliny Cook CASS, son of Nason CASS (1788-1836) & Mary MACMERRILL (1793-1884), in New York, Orleans, Holley. Born on 2 Aug 1819 in NH, Grafton Co., Alexandria. Pliny Cook died in CA, Los Angeles, Los Angeles on 17 Oct 1910; he was 91.

Born in Alexandria Grafton Co., N.H. Married in Holly, Orleans Co., NY in 1852 Moved to Ellison, Warren Co., IL. where Frank was born in 1853. Moved to Albion, N.Y. where Alonzo was born in1856. Moved to Barre, Orleans Co., N.Y. where Bruce was born in1858. Moved to Belle Plaine, Iowa in 1863 and built a sawmill. Could not serve in the Civil War due to a logging injury to his knee. He was a horse and cattle buyer for the Union Army. In 1866 left by team and wagon for Lexington,Mo. and established a grocery buisness. Moved to Carthage, Mo. in 1869. Moved to Pierce City, Mo. in 1870 and started a furniture business. Wiped out by the financial crash of 1874 and left for California, but ran out of money and returned to Joplin, Mo. and started a cattle feed yard. In 1878 lost his herd to "Texas Fever" but started over with 11 head of cattle. Moved to Muscogee Indian Territory to join Alonzo and Frank. In 1888 joined the Tufts family to lease a railway to Los Angeles California, where he lived until his death in 1910.

Clerked a store in Vinta, Indian territory. In 1878 opened a General Merchandising store in Muscogee, Indian Territory with his brother Bruce. Moved to Los Angeles in 1888, accompanied by his brothers, and soon after, as Cass Brothers' Stove Company, they started a hardware store on Third Street, purchasing some of Northcraft & Clark's stock of merchandise. A. B. Cass, who served as President of the Chamber of Commerce in 1901. He was President of the Home Telephone & Telegraph Company from 1906 to 1916 and then President of its successor Southern California Telephone Company. He headed a bonds and securities firm and was the director of the Security Trust and Savings Bank. Seven of his sons were in World War I.

On 23 Jun 1885 when Alonzo Beecher CASS was 28, he first married Emily Flora TUFTS, daughter of John Quincy Adams TUFTS (1840-1908) & Susan Shaw COOKE (1842-1912), in Indian Territory, Muskogee. Born on 25 Sep 1864. Emily Flora died in California, South Pasadena on 11 May 1907; she was 42. Buried in Rosedale Cemetery.
