Funeral services were held in Holley Thursday for Mrs. Helen C. CHADSEY, who died en route home from Florida, aged 73 years. The obsequies were at the home of John McCrillis.

The death of Allen CHADWICK, a well known resident of Albion village, occurred yesterday morning at his East State Street residence. He was born in England June 13, 1855, but came to this country when a young boy. He was engaged in the stone industry and was a member of the Paving Cutters Union at the time of his death. He leaves his wife, five daughters, Mrs. Harold COVENTRY of Fulton; Mrs. Kirke BELL, and the Misses Ivah, Marion and Helen CHADWICK of Albion, and one son, Gordon. Rev W. J. Ford, pastor of the First Baptist Church, will officiate at the funeral, which will be held at the family home at 2 o'clock Wednesday.
Mr. CHADWICK resided for many years on Elizabeth Street, this village, and was a member of the firm of Chadwick Bros., quarrymen.

Albion - Mrs. Ellen K. CHADWICK, 81, a native and lifelong resident of Albion, died at her home at 314 W. Bank St. yesterday (May 9, 1950) after a long illness. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church and its Rosary Society.
Friends will be received at the Merrill Funeral Home at 134 E. State St., where the Rosary Society will meet at 8 p.m. tomorrow to recite the Rosary. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday with burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery).
She is survived by her husband, James CHADWICK, and a daughter, Miss Eleanor CHADWICK of Albion; a sister, Mrs. Katherine WELCH of Rochester' two brothers, D.F. KIRBY and Charles KIRBY of Albion, and several nieces and nephews.

Albion, Sept. 4 - Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday for Miss Ivah CHADWICK, 70, proprietor of an insurance agency for many years until her retirement a year ago. She died Sunday night at Arnold Gregory Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
Services will be conducted at the McNall Funeral Home at 156 S. Main St. by the Rev. Charles Holman, D.D. of the Albion First Baptist CHurch, with burial in Mt. Albion Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.
A lifelong resident of Albion and a graduate of the Brockport Normal School, she served for a time as a clerk in the Landauer Store and later for a number of years for the old Morgan and Linson Cold Storage Co. before starting her insurance firm. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and Baptist Church of Albion. She leaves two sisters, Mrs. Kirk BELL of Albion and Mrs. Dwight NORMAN of Albion, and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Addie CHAFFEE, 81, of 619 Walnut St., Lockport, died shortly after being admitted to Lockport Memorial Hospital last evening. She was born in Medina, March 29, 1879, the daughter of John and Emma RUSSELL PRATT. Mrs. CHAFFEE had lived in this vicinity most of her lifetime, moving to Lockport nineteen years ago.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. W. Harry STANLEY of Medina; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Barnes-Tuttle Funeral Home, Pearl St., where the Rev. Reginald Cory of First Methodist Church will officiate at funeral services at 2 p.m. Friday.

Mrs. Ella H. CHAMBERLAIN died at eleven o’clock this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Bert TIMMERMAN, on East Center street, aged 75 years. Mrs. Chamberlain had been in poor health for about two years of heart trouble which became more serious some weeks ago and she sank slowly and painlessly to death as above stated.
She was born (Ella Rachel HUGHES) Nov. 7, 1836, on what is now the Acer farm in Shelby Center, the daughter of Horatio N. HUGHES and Sarah ELLICOTT Her early life was passed in that village. After her marriage to Dr. William H. CHAMBERLAIN she removed to Medina where Dr. CHAMBERLAIN became one of the leading professional men of the town. She had resided in Medina some fifty years. Dr. CHAMBERLAIN died quite a number of years ago, since which time she had resided with her daughter.
She leaves one daughter, Mrs. TIMMERMAN and one niece, Mrs. Henry G. DANFORTH, of Rochester. Mrs. CHAMBERLAIN was an attendant at St. John’s Episcopal Church and was a woman of many sterling qualities. Warm hearted, sympathetic, kindly and generous, a woman of culture and refinement, an interesting conversationalist she was, until age came upon her, prominent in the social life of the town and leaves a wide circle of friends and acquaintances.
The funeral will take place from the house on Wednesday at three o'clock, with burial at Boxwood Cemetery.

Word was received here today of the death of Mrs. Ida CHAMBERLAIN, 80, Belfast, N. Y. widow of the late Dr. CHAMBERLAIN and formerly of Lyndonville. Mrs. CHAMBERLAIN died at Belfast this morning.
Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at two o'clock from her late home. She was a member of the Belfast Episcopal Church. Survivors include a daughter, Zaida, of Belfast and a son, Pritess, of Minn. Burial will be at the Belfast Cemetery.

Mrs. Mary CHAMBERLAIN, one of Shelby’s most highly esteemed residents died at an early hour Tuesday morning, of paralysis, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Perry CROMWELL, after a short illness of only a week, aged 77 years.
The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon, Rev. O. H. HOWES officiating, assisted by Rev. J. D. CHILDS, D.D. Burial at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, West Shelby.

Death of Dr. CHAMBERLAYNE--Rev. Israel CHAMBERLAYNE, D.D., died at his residence in Lyndonville, Orleans county, on Saturday morning while seated in his chair. Dr. CHAMBERLAYNE was born in New York in 1795, and consequently was eighty years of age when he died. He was a profound thinker and an able preacher; also possessed fine literary abilities and was the author of several standard works on religious subjects. He did effective service in the Methodist itineracy for a long period and during the greater part of his ministerial career was a member of the Old Genesee, now Western New York, Conference. His first appointment was in 1813, at Northumberland, NY and he continued in the active work of the ministry until 1845 when he was superannuated. During the years 1836, '37 and '38, Dr CHAMBERLAYNE was editor of the Auburn Banner, now the Northern Christian Advocate and as an editorial writer was candid and vigorous. In '39, '40, and '41 he was presiding elder of the Buffalo district.

James Alvin CHAMBERS of Rochester died on Thursday, March 12, 1953. He is survived by a son, Thomas L. CHAMBERS; a daughter, Mrs. Wayne BARNARD of East Liverpool, Ohio; three grandchildren; three sisters; and one brother. Funeral services were held in Rochester Sunday afternoon, and internment was made in Beechwood Cemetery, West Kendall.

The death of Marietta ACHILLES CHANDLER, aged 94 years, occurred at the home of her nephew, Layton BAILEY, at Brockport, on Thursday, May 3rd. The deceased was born at Oak Orchard-on-the-Ridge and most of her life has been spent at that place. Until the death of her brother, Joseph ACHILLES, which occurred a few weeks, she had lived for several years with him. Since that time she has been making her home in Brockport.
The late Mrs. CHANDLER was the last surviving member of a family of eleven. The ACHILLES family being one of the first colonial families.
The funeral service will be held from the chapel at Oak Orchard-on-the-Ridge Sunday afternoon at three o’clock. The burial will be made at Bates Road Cemetery. Mrs. Chandler is survived by several neices and nephews and many friends of the community who are grieved at her death.

The death of Dr. Clarence R. CHAPMAN occurred quite suddenly, with hemorrhage of the lungs, at the residence of his father, Dr. James CHAPMAN, on Park Ave., on Saturday morning last. Deceased had been in ill health for a long time. His age was thirty-four years. Funeral services were held at St. John’s Church Monday afternoon, Rev. R. L. Macfarlane officiating. Interment in West Ridgeway Cemetery.

Game Here Brought Death By Mistake, Coroner Rules.

A mis-directed throw of a 20-inch-long Army bayonet separated two teen-age chums
Saturday when it brought accidental death to one in a boy's game called 'chicken'.
Dr. Walter SHIFTON of Albion, coroner has ruled as accidental the death of 14-year-old Gary CHAPMAN, 14, who was killed shortly after 7 p.m. by the pointed weapon tossed by his playmate and long-time pal, John 'Jackie' PITTARD, also 14. Meanwhile, today funeral services were arranged for 2 p.m. tomorrow for the CHAPMAN youth who lived at 1200 South Main St. with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas GARRETT. The body has been taken to the Barnes-Tuttle Funeral Home, 226 Pearl St.
Medina police, together with District Attorney J. Kenneth SERVE and the coroner, made a full inquiry into the case, questioning the grief-stricken PITTARD boy, and two other playmates, who were all playing the fatal game Saturday evening. Testimony of the boys proved satisfactorily that there was no trace of deliberate action, but rather that the tragedy was the accidental result of a dangerous pastime in which one boy became 'it', and stood against a wooden wall while another attempted to make him ‘flinch’’ by tossing the weapon somewhere near him. The game took place in early evening behind the home of the PITTARD boy’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Francis PITTARD, 1100 South Main St. Used as the wooden background for the game was the wall of an abandoned wooden shed at the rear of the home.
The coroner’s certificate of accidental death disclosed that the long bayonet had struck the youth in the left chest and had pierced through the heart. The throw was believed to be made from a distance of 10 or 12 feet. The key point in the testimony, and one which was repeated by all the youngsters questioned, was the fact that the bayonet snagged on young PITTARD's jacket sleeve just as the throw was made, causing the weapon to deflect and strike CHAPMAN by accident.
Police Sgt. Samuel GIBBS of the Medina department was among the first on the scene, summoned by a neighbor. Piecing the information from his investigation together, Sgt. GIBBS reported that the CHAPMAN boy had apparently walked up to 25 or 30 feet and sat down on a rear step of the Pittard home where he quickly collapsed. The bayonet had fallen from his chest by its own weight near the scene of the boys’ game. Rushed to Medina Memorial Hospital in the municipal ambulance, Gary lived only about five minutes after arrival. The entire time interval between the stabbing and death was placed at less than 20 minutes.
Still a mystery in the investigation is the origin of the Army bayonet, belieyed to be of pre-World War II vintage, possibly World War I. The youngsters were only able to state that they had gotten it at school, but school officials said there would have been no possible source for it there. Police believe it might have been acquired through a succession of boyhood trading.
Adding to the tragedy was the fact that Gary and his friend 'Jackie' PITTARD had been very close chums since Gary moved into the neighborhood seven years ago. Mr. GARRETT said they were together constantly and enjoyed outdoor adventures. He reported that they had spent Saturday afternoon in such recreation as basketball, fishing and hiking. Police Sgt. GIBBS said that Gary and Jackie, together with Bennett ALLEN of Millville and James GARDNER of Medina were together behind the PITTARD home in early evening, and they told him they had been flicking the bayonet at the blank wall of the shed, each taking 10 turns to see who could stick it by its point.
In other conversations with the boys, he learned that they later decided to take turns standing against the wall. At this point, each boy would be given the chance to say, 'no' or to allow the bayonet to be thrown a distance away to test them for flinching. The Pittard boy was questioned only after a doctor’s care for shock and hysteria.
The deceased youngster was a high school freshman here, a member of the Wakapa Honor Society, Junior Dramatics Club, Glee Club, the First Presbyterian Church, and formerly a boy scout. Gary is survived by his parents, as well as a sister, Karen CHAPMAN, and a half-brother, James GARRETT; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Weston CORSER of Medina; his father, Stephen CHAPMAN, and grandfather, Edmund CHAPMAN, both of Albion.
The Rev. Edward Simpson, of First Presbyterian Church, will conduct services tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, with burial in Boxwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Theresa CHARLES, 89, died at the home of her son, James CHARLES, on the Hulberton Road, early Saturday evening, May 18, 1946.
She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Philip UNELLI, Mrs. Frank DeCARLO, and Mrs. Jessie LANNI, all of Hulberton and Mrs. Charles MADELINE of Rochester; her son, James CHARLES of Hulburton; 21 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The funeral services were held from her son’s home in Hulberton Tuesday morning, followed by services at St. Mary’s Church. Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery, Holley.

The funeral of Mrs. Amanda (TURNER) CHASE was held yesterday afternoon (24 Dec 1891) from the home of her son, Louis CHASE, of Medina. Two other sons survive her, Henry CHASE, of Medina, and Noah C. CHASE, of Chicago. Mrs. CHASE suffered a stroke of paralysis on Thanksgiving Day from which she never rallied. She was born in Palmyra in 1803, but had lived for nearly sixty years in Medina, where she is remembered as a zealous worker in the Methodist Episcopal church, of which she was a member.

The Medina friends of Arad CHASE, formerly of this place, have received the sad news of his death, which occurred at Fort Dodge, Ia., on Friday last. His age was 74 years.

Charles M. CHASE, for a number of years employed with the A. L. Swett Iron Works here, died at his summer home at Gordon Bay, Muskoka, on Nov. 25th.
Mr. Chase left here in 1899 and moved to Toronto, where he was employed by the Toronto Hardware Co. with whom he had been engaged for 28 years. His first wife Myrtie MIDDAUGH predeceased him in 1924.
He leaves to mourn their loss, his wife of Gordon Bay, one son Harry CHASE of Grand Rapids, Iowa, one daughter Mrs. Ethel SCADDIN of 60 Close Ave., Toronto, and one sister Mrs. Arthur CHENEY, Utica and one brother Peleg CHASE of Akron, NY.

Mrs. Jane CHASE, widow of the late Dr. Arad CHASE, died at Fort Dodge, Iowa, Sunday, aged 85 years. The deceased suffered from a fall two weeks ago, but death was due to general decline of old age. Deceased was a former resident of Medina, and for many years a prominent member of the Methodist church of this place. Dr. and Mrs. CHASE removed from Medina a few years since, and had made their home at Fort Dodge. Mrs. Chase was well known here, and was an aunt of Lewis Chase, of West avenue.

Lewis CHASE, a life-long resident of Medina and a prominent Medina man, was instantly killed by a fall at his home on Saturday night.
Mr. Chase was alone at the time and, evidently, about ten o'clock had started to go down cellar to attend the furnace, with a small kerosene lamp in his hand. The doctor's believe that he suffered a stroke of appoplexy causing him to fall. His head struck on a projection, fracturing his skull and death was instant. The lamp which he held in his hand was broken and set fire to his clothing, causing a dense smoke. His daughter, Miss Louise CHASE, who had been playing with the orchestra at the opera house, returned to find the house filled with smoke and a frantic search for her father at length found his body at the foot of the stairway. Neighbors were summoned and Mr. Chase’s body was brought up stairs and doctors summoned, but nothing could be done.
There is the deepest and most sincere sympathy for the surviving daughter, into whose life three tragedies have entered, her mother (Hattie BRITT), her brother (Myron CHASE) and now her father meeting sudden deaths, and the entire community grieves with her in her bereavement. CHASE had lived in Medina nearly his entire life and was a veteran of the Civil War, and a prominent member of the G. A. R. He served during the war with the 17th New York Battery, at Petersburg, Appomatox and numerous other engagements.
The funeral will take place from the M. E. Church on Wednesday at 3 p.m. It is desired that all veterans of the war attend in a body, whether members of the G. A. R. or not.

Mrs. Sylvia A. CHASE died at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Fred SHEARER, of Prospect avenue, at eight o’clock this morning, aged eighty-five years. Mrs. CHASE was formerly a resident of Lyndonville, but has been with her granddaughter for some little time. Her death this morning was quite sudden so the attending physician, Dr. QUACKENBUSH, notified Coroner Dr. Charles E. FAIRMAN, who granted a certificate of death from senile degeneration of the heart.
The deceased is survived by her granddaughter, Mrs. SHEARER, and a nephew, George HAGERDORN, of Lyndonville. The funeral will be held at Lyndonville on Sunday afternoon.

Peter Leon CHATT, 56, 547 Main St., died in the Medina Memorial Hospital early this morning. Mr. CHATT was born in Rochester and lived here the greater part of his life. He was a machinist in the Niagara Sprayer, Middleport.
He is survived by his wife, Jane (SCOFIELD); two sons, Leon and Elmer, both of Medina; three grandchildren; eight sisters, Mary, Josephine, Mrs. Rose CREBBICKS, Mrs. Bessie BROWN, Mrs. Teresa SWEET, Mrs. Louise BROWN, Mrs. Lucy KEAR and Mrs. Florence HIGBY and several nieces and nephews.
He was a veteran of World War I, a communicant of St. Mary’s Church and a member of the Medina Loyal Order of Moose.
Services will be held Saturday morning at 8 o’clock from the Cleary Funeral Home and at 8:30 in St. Mary’s Church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

MlDDLEPORT - Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon in the Reed Funeral Home, Doylesville, Pa. for Mrs. Marion D. CHESTNUT, 42, whose death occurred Saturday in Lockport Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient for the past eight weeks. She was the wife of Frank CHESTNUT and resided at 43 State Street.
Born March 9, 1915, in Doylestown(?), Pa., her parents were Harry H. DICKSON and the late Mary PRICE DICKSON. She had been a resident of this village for the past seven years, coming here with her husband who is employed by the Niagara Chemical Division. She was a member of the Doylesville Presbyterian Church.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Frank Jr. and John; her father, Harry DICKSON, Greenville, S.C., and a brother, Charles DICKSON of Hatboro, Pennsylvania.

The death of Mrs. Kathleen CARDONE CHIAROLONZA, 34, wife of Frank CHIAROLONZA of Batavia and a native of Medina occurred this morning in the Buffalo General Hospital following an operation performed yesterday. Mrs. CHIAROLONZA was hospitalized on Saturday, Jan. 3, after a cerebral hemorrhage suffered on that day.
Born in Medina her parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. Dominic CARDONE. Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Guy and David of Batavia; two sisters, Mrs. Thomas CALLANDRA and Miss Alice CARDONE and four brothers, Frank, Bert, Vincent and Joseph CARDONE, all of Medina.

George CHICHESTER, 73 years old, 207 Catherine St., died suddenly last evening following a heart attack. Born in Lyndonville, he lived here most of his lifetime. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, a member of the Moose Lodge here, and a member of Camp 109, United Spanish war Veterans in this village.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Catherine STINSON, Mrs. Loraine WINANS and Mrs. Evelyn ROACH, and a son, George, all of Medina; also 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild, and a brother, Frank A. CHICHESTER of Rochester.
Services will be held Friday at 8:30 a. m. at the Cleary Funeral Home, Park Ave., and also at 9 a. m. at St. Mary's Church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. (Taken from the Washak scrapbooks)

Stephen CHICK, 61, a barber in Medina for 37 years, died suddenly yesterday in Downer Grove, Ill., where he had lived with his wife for the past two years. He had been in ill health for some time, his death was unexpected. Born in Albion, Chick had given up his active barbering practice here and moved to the Illinois community where his son lives.
He is survived by his wife, Helen A.; one son, Bernard, of Downer Grove; a daughter, Mrs. Rinaurd PANZIRONI, of New York City; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held from the Cleary Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m. Friday, and at 10 a.m. from St. Mary's Church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the Cleary Funeral Home tomorrow and Thursday.

Albion - The death of Mrs. Mary CHIKE, 66, wife of Frank CHIKE, 241 Carolina Street occurred in the Arnold Gregory Hospital last night. Mrs. CHIKE suffered a stroke on Thursday of last week from which she failed to recover.
Born in Albion she has resided here all her life. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Besides her husband she is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Adam LEVANDOWSKI of Albion, and two sons, Alfred of Albion and Edmund of Medina.
The body is resting at the Merrill Funeral Home where prayer services will be held at 9:30 am. on Friday, Nov. 23 with services in St. Mary’s Church at 10. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. (error)

We are pained to announce the death of Anna, daughter of H. (Henry) A. Childs; which took place yesterday morning about two o'clock. She was taken last Thursday with Meningitis and from Friday till her death she remained semi-unconscious state. She was six years of age.

Daniel CHILDS, Esq., who died at his residence, near West Shelby, on the 26th Ult., of typhoid pneumonia, aged 72 years, had been for more than fifty years a resident of the town of Shelby, and few were more generally known and respected. He had been a member of the Christian Church of West Shelby, for more than forty years. In his death the church has lost one of its founders and chief supports, and the community a good man. He leaves a wife and a very large circle of friends to mourn his loss. His remains were interred by the side of those of his family who have gone before, in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, on the 1st inst., under the auspices of Medina Lodge, No. 386, F. & A.M. His last words were "Let me rest."

Milford W. CHILDS, one of the most prominent men in the business and fraternal life of Medina, passed away at 6 o'clock Wednesday morning at his home on West Center street after an illness of less than a week's duration.
Since 1901 when he severed his law connections with Hon. Wesley C. DUDLEY, of Buffalo, Mr. CHILDS has been an active member of S. A. COOK Co., and at the time of his death was a vice-president of the company in charge of the Wholesale Tobacco and Candy Department. He also was president of the Medina Case Furniture Co.
Fraternally Mr. CHILDS was a Knight Templar, 32nd degree Mason, a Shriner and member of Medina Lodge of Elks. He also belonged to the Alert Club, Lockport Country Club, Tuscorora Club of Lockport, Buffalo Club and Buffalo Athletic Club.
Mr. CHILDS was the son of the Late Henry A. CHILDS, Justice of the Supreme Court, and Mr. CHILDS and was born in Medina, September 28, 1869. After obtaining his early education in the Medina schools he graduated from Williams College and Buffalo law School.
On June 1, 1898 he was married to Pearl COOK, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. S. A. COOK, who survives him. He also leaves to mourn their loss one son, Milford W. Jr.; two daughters Mrs. Henry W. HOLT and Miss Carry CHILDS and two sisters, Mrs. William L. MARCY, of Buffalo, and Mrs. Charles BRIMSON, of Cleveland, 0hio.
The funeral will be held from the family home at 2:30 o'clock Friday afternoon. Burial will be in Boxwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Jennie 0. CHRISMAN, 78, passed away Wednesday at her home in Kenyonville after a short illness.
She is survived by her husband, Alvin Burt CHRISMAN, daughter, Mrs. George McCLOY of Lockport, one son, LaVern CHRISMAN of Lockport; one grandson, Clarence CHRISMAN; two brothers, Charles JOHNSON of Shelby Center and Milton JOHNSON of RFD, Albion; one sister, Alma APPLETON of Gaines. She was a member of the Waterport Grange and the W.C.T.U.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:30 from the McNall Funeral Home, Albion. Burial will be in Mt. Albion Cemetery with the Rev. Gordon KURTZ of the Waterport Methodist Church officiating.

Amos CHRISTOPHER, aged 78 years, died Monday evening at his home on Chestnut street after a long illness. He is survived by his wife, one son Frank, of Medina, one daughter, Mrs. James MOORE, of Syracuse and eight grandchildren. The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon.

In the death of Mrs. Lucy CHRISTY, which occurred at noon on Wed., Aug. 28th, Medina loses its oldest resident and one who had been a most useful member of society. Mrs. CHRISTY's childhood home was in Waterbury, Vt. where she was born to Hiram PECK and Welthy KILBURN, on 1/18/1809. At the age of 17 she was married to Henry CHRISTY, of Castleton, Vt., with whom she lived most happily until his death in 1869 and to whom she bore 7 children, 4 of whom lived to a mature age. The first few years of their married life were passed in the little village of Parishville, St. Lawrence County, but in 1884 they came to Medina by way of Lake Ontario and the canal, and here they made their home the rest of their days.
To Mrs. CHRISTY belonged one distinction seldom met with in these days. She was a Daughter of the Revolution of the 1st generation, her father, Hiram Peck, having entered the service of his country in the struggle for independence at the age of 16. Mr. PECK also served his country with the rank of colonel in the war of 1812, and a visit by him to his home during that war, dressed in the striking uniform of the time was one of Mrs. CHRISTY's most vivid childhood recollections, as was the rumble of the cannonading during the battle of Lake Champlain.
During the sixty-seven years of Mrs. CHRISTY's residence in Medina she was a faithful member of the Presbyterian Church, and until recent years a very active one, interesting herself in all the work of the church; and for more that 50 yrs. she was a teacher in the Sunday School.

The death of William CHRISTY, who was formerly engaged in the plumbing business here, occurred at the Municipal hospital, Buffalo, Tuesday morning, of influenza. The body was brought to Medina. His age was about 30 years. His wife (Lolah) and four children survive.

A telegram received last night announced the sudden death of Manley C. CHRISWELL, formerly of this place. Mr. CHRISWELL came with his father, A G. CHRISWELL, to this place several years ago and was employed in the DAILY JOURNAL office as linotype operator. Last year he went to Lansing, where he held a fine position. No particulars have been received as to the cause of death. His father started immediately on receipt of the telegram and the body will be taken direct to Brockport for burial in the family plot.
Mr. Chriswell was a quiet, pleasant young fellow and an excellent and rapid workman, and during his short stay here was popular with those who knew him. He leaves his father, and three brothers, Lathrop, of Lansing, and Adin and Homer G., of Brockport.

Mrs. Adeline ODELL CHUBBUCK, widow of the late L. E. CHUBBUCK, died Wednesday, June 30th. She was a life-long and respected resident of Middleport; a woman of marked intellectual and business ability. She is survived by one son, Burt A. of Pittsburg, formerly of Medina.

Mrs. Arletta CHUBBUCK, 77, wife of Frank CHUBBUCK, died unexpectedly this morning at 6:15 a. m. at her home, 216 Highland Avenue. In apparent good health Mrs. CHUBBUCK had been active until taken suddenly ill shortly before her death.
Born December 8, 1872, in Medina, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Jane HOKE SNYDER, and had lived here her entire lifetime. On June 20, 1949, Mr. and Mrs. CHUBBUCK observed their 56th wedding anniversary. She was a member of the Fundamental Baptist Tabernacle.
Surviving are her husband, Frank CHUBBUCK; one son, Orville CHUBBUCK of Lansing; Mich.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Two other children died several years ago, Onallee in 1915 at the age of 16, and Homer in 1916 at the age of 2. Friends may call at the Hartt Funeral Home, Pearl Street. Funeral arrangements have not been completed.

Elija CHUBBUCK died Friday, Dec. 16, 1881, aged 81 years and 3 months. Mr. C. was one of the early pioneers of Niagara Co., coming on foot with his brother Levi, from Vermont, in 1820. He settled in Royalton where he reseded till 1850, when he removed to the town of Shelby. His life was one of serenity, looking upon all things in hopefulness. He was buried Sabbath, Dec. 18 in the beautiful cemetery at West Shelby, N.Y.

Word has been received in Medina of the death of Mrs. B. (Burt) A. CHUBBUCK in her home in Long Beach, California, on February 22nd. Mrs. CHUBBUCK, who had been a resident of Long Beach for the past 14 years, was a native of Medina. Her parents were the late Rev. Henry B. and Ada HOWELL. Surviving are a brother, Fred HOWELL, and a nephew Roland HOWELL, both of Medina.
Burial will take place in the family plot in Boxwood Cemetery here later in the year.

Homer Marvin CHUBBUCK, the two year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank CHUBBUCK, died Tuesday afternoon at their home in Shelby. He leaves to mourn his loss, besides his parents, a sister, Onnalee, and brother, Orville, of Detroit, Mich.

A Niagara County man, husband of a former Medina woman, was fatally injured early yesterday when his auto struck a telephone pole near Ransomville. He was John CHUNKO, 37, of Lower Mountain Rd., Town of Cambria, who died of a broken neck at 4 a. m. when his car ran off the Youngstown - Ransomville Road and struck a pole. His wife, who survives him with a family of six children, is the former Gertrude WASHAK of Medina, daughter of Mrs. Sophie WASHAK, Gravel Rd. (Medina)
Mr. CHUNKO, a maintenance man for the Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation for 14 years, worked Labor Day, helping to string electric wires for the Youngstown Firemen’s Field Day. He was a native of Manchester, N.Y. State Police from Lewiston, who investigated the fatal accident said the man apparently went to sleep at the wheel.
Surviving are his wife, the former Gertrude WASHAK; six children, Mary Ann, 10; John, 8; Susan: 6; Judith, 3; Robert, 2; and Andrew, 1; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Stephen CHUNKO of Shortsville; four brothers, Peter of Buffalo, Michael of Newfane, Thomas of Shortsville, Major William, in the U. S. Army at Kansas City; and three sisters, Mrs. Catherine KLYM of Manchester, Mrs. Eva DUCHYNS of Rochester and Ann CHUNKO of Shortsville.
Services will be held in Immaculate Conception Church, North Ridge, at 10 a. m. Friday, with burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Medina.

The remains of Adeline CHURCH, who died in New York City Friday May 30th, were brought to Medina and interred in Boxwood Cemetery this morning at nine o'clock.
The deceased was the daughter of Wesley B. and Mary J. (WHALEY) CHURCH and a granddaughter of Dr. Christopher WHALEY, who at one time had an office where Frank Hunt now has his store. Two sisters Misses Mary and Lillian CHURCH, accompanied the remains from New York and they are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Sutter for a few days. One of the beautiful art windows in St. John's Episcopal church is a memorial to Dr. WHALEY.

Lyndonville - Mrs. Anna CHURCH, 89, widow of Orson CHURCH died Sunday afternoon at her home on Riverside Street.
She was born on September 17, 1860 in the town of Yates, the daughter of Fannie SPILINA and Edward PHILLIPS. She was married about fifty-five years ago. Her husband passed away February 22, 1944. They lived in the Town of Yates with the exception of two years spent in Ontario County. Mrs. CHURCH belonged to the Yates Baptist Church and the missionary society and was a charter member of Lyndonia Rebekah Lodge.
She is survived by one son, Judge Leon S. CHURCH of St Petersburg, Florida and one granddaughter, Mrs. D. L. PETERSON of Woodbury. Services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 from her late home with the Rev. Floyd A. CHILDS of the Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Lynhaven Cemetery.

Early Sunday morning, Dec. 31, 1911, occurred the death of Mrs. Jane B. CHURCH, who was born May 2, 1815, nearly 97 years ago. Most of her life had been spent in Yates, to which town she came from the eastern part of the State when eighteen months of age.
She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard BARRY, who were the parents of eleven children, four of whom lived to be more than 90 and four others more than 80 years of age, the youngest death occurring at 40 years. One sister, Mrs. Hannah DANIELS, who is in her 91st year, survives. At the age of 16 she was married to Grosvenor CHURCH, with whom she lived 42 years, his death occurring in 1873. They adopted a daughter in infancy, who is now known as Mrs. Sophronia JOHNSON, and she has been a faithful daughter to her through all her declining years. In 1878 Mrs. CHURCH, with her husband, united with the Lyndonville Methodist church when she was 16, and with the exception of five years, when they lived in tHe town of Somerset, held her membership here until her death. She has always been loyal and true to the church. In 1878 she married Mr. Archibald CHURCH of St.Catharines, Ont., Canada, who lived only five years.
She was especially interested in the education of young people, and many of her nephews and nieces, as well as others, have been helped by her hospitable home to remain in school, particularly so in the days of Yates Academy. A noble woman has passed to her reward, and many there be who call her name blessed.
The funeral services were held from her late home, Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock, conducted by the pastor, Rev. B. R. Germer. Burial was made in Lynhaven Cemetery. Mrs. Hannah CHURCH and daughter, Mrs. Merritt HUTCHISON, of Rochester, Mr. and Mrs. Watson BARRY of Medina, Mrs. Caddie KEEFER, a step-daughter, of Toronto, Ont., Canada, were in attendance.

CHIEF JUDGE CHURCH HIS SUDDEN DEATH AT ALBION ON FRIDAY

- THE FUNERAL.
Hon. Sanford E. CHURCH, Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals of this State died at Albion on Friday afternoon, of apoplexy. He went to his home in Albion from the sitting of the court in New York city, on Saturday, May 1, a fortnight ago, for a vacation of three weeks. He had, however, during the time applied himself closely to the business upon his hands, it being his custom to write opinions during his stay at home, although he had complained some for a few days previous. Friday morning he went as usual to his law office, and was engaged during the forenoon in preparing an opinion. He appeared usually well at dinner and after; and during the afternoon, on return to his office, he stepped into the Orleans County National Bank near by. While there, about 3:50 o’clock, engaged in conversation with ex-Congressman E. Kirke Harte and some other friends he suddenly complained of feeling unwell. At his suggestion a carriage was called and he was conveyed to his residence on State street. On arriving at the house he retired to his room in the upper portion unassisted, and requested that the family physician be called. When the latter reached him he complained of a pain in his left side and expressed a fear that his heart was affected. The physician, Dr. Lewis, proceeded to prepare some medicine, when suddenly and without warning or a word Judge Church struggled somewhat, turned slightly purple, fell over on one side and was dead, his last words being about his pain. It is thought death resulted from apoplexy. The event caused the utmost sadness throughout the village of his residence, where he was best known and esteemed.
Judge CHURCH was born at Milford, Otsego county, on the 18th of April 1815. At an early age he removed with his parents to Barre in this county. At the age of eighteen he began teaching school and after that taught for several winters at Henrietta and Scottsville, studying law at the same time in the office of J. A. Eastman, then of Scottsville, but now of Rochester. Subsequently he removed to Albion and began the practice of law. Noah Davis was taken into his office, and subsequently the two formed the law firm of Church & Davis. Ever a staunch Democrat in politics, deceased was in 1842 elected to the Assembly. He held the office of District Attorney of Orleans county from 1846 to 1850, having before this held the position of Deputy County Clerk. He was nominated for the office of Lieutenant-Governor in 1850, and re-elected in 1852. He next held the office of Controller from 1857 to 1859, and in 1867 was elected a member-at-large of the Constitutional Convention. In May, 1870, he was elected to the high office of Chief Justice of the Court of Appeals for fourteen years. He was several times mentioned as a Democratic candidate for the Presidency, and in 1868 the New York delegation of his party supported him as a unit. In 1874 he refused to accept the nomination for Governor. Besides his partnership with Judge Davis, he was a partner of Judge Sawyer; also, from 1865, the senior partner of the firm of Church, Munger & Cook, of Rochester.
Deceased was married to a daughter of Justice WILD of Barre Centre, in 1840 (Ann WILD). Their union was blessed with two children, George B. and Nellie CHURCH, both now residing in Albion. His wife and two sisters also survive him. THE FUNERAL.
The funeral services were held at the late residence of the deceased on Tuesday, at three P. M. A vast concourse of people assembled, many eminent men being present from different sections of the state, to do honor to the memory of a pure and upright man. Special trains were run from various points for the purpose of accommodating those who desired to be present, and it is estimated that there were from three to four thousand persons in attendance who were not residents of Albion. Members of the Bar to the number of about two hundred were present.
The remains lay in state in the parlors of the Church mansion, and were viewed by the people, a constant stream of humanity flowing through the house for upwards of three hours. The casket in which reposed the body of the deceased was a magnificent one, covered with black cloth, and heavy silver trimmings. Around its edges lay a graceful border of smilax, and near by were several floral tributes of the most exquisite description. At the head of the casket stood a large cross of white flowers, at its foot another beautiful cross of ivy leaves, and on each side were elegant baskets of cut flowers, a broken column, a crown, and a superb bank of white flowers centered with green. An elegant pillow of white roses, with the initials “S. E. C.”, rested on the upper end of the coffin just above the stately head of the distinguished dead. The broad door-way which separated the two parlors was tastefully draped with black crape daintily caught up here and there with floral emblems. The library chair of the deceased, also heavily draped, stood beside the bier. At precisely three o'clock the lid of the casket was screwed down preparatory to the funeral services. The massive silver plate bore only this simple inscription:

The parlors were then cleared of all but the members and intimate friends of the
family, the bearers and Judges of the Court of Appeals.
The beautiful and impressive Episcopal services were conducted by the Rev. S. Barnard, rector of Christ Church, Albion, assisted by the Rev. Mr. Nickerson, Rector of the Epiphany Church of Rochester. The Rt. Rev. A. Cleveland Coxe, Bishop of Western New York, was also present. After the reading of the service the choir of Christ Church, consisting of Mr. W. J. Hannington, Jr., Mr. J. B. Hannington, Miss Harrington and Miss Clara Beach, sang “Nearer my God to Thee” in a very affecting manner. Bishop Cox then stepped out of the open window upon the front veranda and addressed the assemblage which surrounded the house briefly but eloquently in relation to the character of the deceased. After the Bishop had finished his remarks the Rev. Mr. Barnard delivered a short address in which he paid a high tribute to the character of the late Judge Church, and expressed in feeling terms the widespread sentiment of sympathy which prevailed for the sorrow-stricken family. The choir then sang, by request, “The Sweet Bye and Bye,” after which the Rev. Mr. Nickerson made the closing prayer. In a few moments the casket was borne out of the house and placed in the hearse, the following named distinguished gentlemen acting as pallbearers; Hon. Noah Davis, New York, Hon. About half-past four o’clock the funeral cortege moved up State street to

The funeral procession was shortened somewhat by the inability of some of the visiting delegations to march to the cemetery in consequence of the early departure of their trains for home. Nevertheless the cortege was an imposing one, and as it proceeded on its solemn way the bells of the various village churches tolled the solemn knell of death. Main street was profusely and appropriately decorated for the occasion, several of the business places being draped. The office formerly occupied by Judge Church at the corner of Main and Bank streets, was hung with crape, and the Court-house, at the corner of State and Main was also heavily draped, the large pillars being wound with black and a draped American flag being festooned across the front of the building. The interment took place in the pleasant family lot of the deceased, in Mount Albion Cemetery. The usual Episcopal burial service was read by the Rev. Mr. Barnard, and the mortal remains of the eminent citizen and judge were reverently and tearfully lowered into their final resting place.

—A dispatch was received in Medina Monday morning announcing the death of Wesley B. CHURCH, who died after a long illness of kidney trouble Saturday evening, at his home in New York, at the age 54 years. Mr. CHURCH was well known in this county, having made Medina his home for a time some twenty years since. His father, Samuel C. CHURCH, was a Methodist minister, and preached hereabouts some forty years ago. His mother, Mrs. Mary Church, and his sister, Mrs. ALLING, are still living and reside in Brockport. He married Mary Jane, daughter of Dr. C. (Christopher) Whalley (WHALEY), an old resident physician of Medina, about twenty-five years ago, by whom he had four children. Mrs. CHURCH and three daughters still remain, the oldest of whom is 21 years of age. The remains were brought to Medina yesterday for burial in Boxwood Cemetery, and were taken in charge of by the Masonic order, of which he was a prominent and active member for many years.

Major CHURCHILL, who resides on the ridge road west of Ridgeway, died yesterday, aged 81 years. Deceased was one of the pioneer residents of this section.

An Italian named Poalo CICCO, aged 24 years, was instantly killed Saturday in the Fancher quarry, operated by the Medina Quarry Company, at Transit, four miles east of Albion. While operating the steam derrick he was caught and crushed. The remains were taken to Onderdonk & Reed's undertaking rooms and prepared for burial after being viewed by the coroner, Dr. John Sutton.
Deceased leaves a widowed mother in Italy. He has no relatives in this country. He was a member of Foresters' Legion and was a man well regarded among his people.

The death of Mrs. Mary CROWLEY CIELEWICH, wife of John W. CIELEWICH, occurred shortly after 11 o’clock this morning in St. Jerome’s Hospital, Batavia, where she had been a patient since Saturday. Mrs. CIELEWICH had been in ill health for several months and suffered a coronary thrombosis early Saturday.
Mrs. CIELEWICH has been active in numerous Medina organizations including the American Legion Auxiliary and Women of the Moose. She was also active for many years in bowling circles in Medina and the county. Surviving, in addition to her husband, is one son, Donald CIELEWICH of Medina, 2 grandsons and a brother John CROWLEY of Middleport.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
A prayer service will be held tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. in the Thibault Funeral Home, South Main St., for Mrs. Mary CROWLEY CIELEWICH, 58. This will be followed by a mass in St. Mary’s Church at 9:30 with burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Mrs. CIELEWICH’s death occurred Monday in St. Jerome’s Hospital, Batavia, where she has been a patient two days following a coronary thrombosis suffered on Saturday.

The death of William CIELEWICH, 84, a well-known resident of Medina, occurred Friday evening at his home, 217 Pleasant Street, following an illness of several months. Mr. CIELEWICH was born in Posen, Poland, came to the United States when a young man of twenty-two, settling in Medina, and residing here continuously since that time.
A blacksmith by trade, his first employment here was with the Holloway Syndicate Stone Quarries as a tool dresser, and later with the A. L. Swett Iron Works. In 1906 he purchased the Verne Sly Blacksmith Shop in the then Radcliffe Building, corner of Mill Street and East Center, which business he conducted for over forty years. His career at metal smithing spanned sixty-three years before his retirement from active work five years ago. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church and a charter member of the Holy Name Society.
Surviving are three sons, John of Medina, Edmund of Youngstown, Ohio, and Clement of Jersey City, N. J.; three daughters, Eleanor CIELEWICH, Mrs. Raymond MORIARTY and Mrs. William MOTT, all of Medina; two sisters, Mrs Proxeda WOCHNA of Albion, N. Y., and Mrs. Joanna JUDSON of Newark, N. J.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A High Mass of Requiem will be celebrated Tuesday morning at ten o’clock at St. Mary’s Church, following prayers at 9:30 o’clock at the family residence. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

The sudden and unexpected death of Mrs. Florence (KEAN) CIESIENSKI, aged 55 years, wife of Vincent (KEAN) CIESIENSKI of Shelby Basin, occurred at the Medina Memorial Hospital early Saturday morning. She had been admitted as a patient only Friday afternoon.
Mrs. was the daughter of the late William and Rose BARLYOU DUBIE and came here from Burlington, Vermont some years ago. She was an active member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Cootiettes. She was the Shelby Basin correspondent for the Medina Daily Journal-Register.
Besides her husband she is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Roy YANDOW, Mrs. Frank KELLY, Mrs. Francis CHRISTAWSKI all of Burlington and Mrs. Joseph LaMOY of Barre, Vermont, also three brothers Frank and William DUBIE of Burlington and Arthur in Massachusetts, besides numerous nieces and nephews.
Prayer services were given this morning at 9:30 by the Very Rev. Henry B. SHAW from the Thibault Funeral Home and requiem mass was celebrated at 10 o’clock from St. Mary’s Church. The body is being shipped this afternoon to Burlington and final services will be held there Wednesday morning with burial in the family plot at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

Mrs. Mary CIESIENSKI, 77, widow of Charles CIESIENSKI, 611 Genesee Street, died last night in the Medina Memorial Hospital following a long illness. She had been a patient at the hospital since May 15. Born in Poland, Mrs. CIESINSKI, came to this country fifty-five years ago. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. John O’KUSSICK and Mrs. Edward MATUSAK, Medina, Mrs. Walter CHERRY of Silver Creek; four sons, Vincent, Leo and Paul CIESINSKI of Medina, and Walter CIESIENSKI of Albion; fourteen grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 8:30 o’clock from her late home, 611 Genesee Street, and at 9:00 o’clock at Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery Cemetery.

The death of Joseph CIESINSKI Jr., twelve-year-old student of Sacred Heart School, occurred in the Medina Memorial Hospital on Sunday morning, after a short illness. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph CIESINSKI, and lived with his grandmother, Mrs. Mary CIESINSKI at 611 Genesee street. His father died a few months ago.
Besides his grandmother, several uncles and aunts survive.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday morning at 8:30 o’clock from the residence on Genesee street, and at 9:00 o’clock at Sacred Heart Church. Rev. Max T. Bogacki will officiate, and burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Besides her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Grant SCOFIELD, Mrs. Irene LICHWICZ, of Rochester, and Lorraine at home; one son, Joseph CIESINSKI of Medina; her parents Mr. and Mrs. Joseph LEVANDOWSKI of Albion; 9 sisters, Jane, Florence, Bernice, Lillian, Lucy, Dorothy, Esther, Celia and Lottie; and two brothers Frank and Edward LEVANDOWSKI.

John CLANCEY, who has been missing since April 2d, was last Thursday found dead in a well on the property of Drake & Bull, millers, at Holley. The opening in the platform was only twelve by fifteen inches and the pump remained in it, giving evidence of foul play. Deceased was a man of intemperate habits and somewhat quarrelsome when intoxicated. His age is about 27 years. The family on the premises have been using water from the well all the time. Dr. Taylor, the Coroner, was notified, summoned a jury, and commenced holding an inquest. The Jury adjourned to meet again yesterday, but we have not learned their verdict. The face of CLANCEY was badly bruised. He was a brother of a saloon keeper in Holley.

Mrs. Alice S. CLAPP died suddenly yesterday afternoon at the home of her sister, Mrs. G. Mervin FRARY, of Prospect Avenue. Mrs. CLAPP had been an occasional sufferer from heart trouble for several years but her condition had never been considered serious and she has been in her usual health until a few days ago. Yesterday she experienced a severe attack of heart trouble, but she was relieved by the usual treatment and was thought to be out of danger. About five o’clock a friend sat by her bedside when Mrs. CLAPP turned to her and told of an overwhelming faintness, and before anything could be done she had passed away.
Mrs. CLAPP was born and passed a great deal of her life in Medina. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John GRAVES and of the family there are surviving her sister Mrs. G. M. FRARY, and her brother, Bert GRAVES of Middleport.
She was born May 2, 1847, and educated in the Medina schools. She became a communicant of St. John’s Episcopal Church at an early age and was always interested in the work of the Church wherever she resided. Her marriage to Fred G. CLAPP, of Buffalo took place in 1871 and they resided during their married life in Buffalo and various points in California. The death of Mr. CLAPP occurred some years ago. One daughter, Mrs. Frank HINKLEY, of Buffalo, survives. Mr. HNKLEY was private secretary to Mayor Knight of Buffalo during his tenure of office and is now connected with the Statler Hotel Company.
Mrs. CLAPP had many warm friends in both Buffalo and Medina. She was a woman of many accomplishments and graces, earnest in Church work and efforts for charity, warm hearted, kindly and sympathetic. She will be missed by a large circle of friends and acquaintances.
The funeral service will be held at the home of her sister on Prospect avenue tomorrow (Wednesday) afternoon at three o’clock, the Rev. Mr REESE of the Methodist Church officiating, and burial will be in the family plot at Boxwood Cemetery.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m. in the Houseman Funeral Home, Knowlesville, for George B. CLAPP, 72, postmaster at Knowlesville, whose death occurred Saturday in Arnold Gregory Memorial Hospital, Albion, following a short illness. Prior to becoming postmaster 12 years ago, he engaged in farming in the area. Mr. CLAPP was a member of the National Ass'n. of Postmasters.
He was born in the Town of Royalton, Niagara County, Dec. 16, 1884, but had been a resident of Orleans County the greater part of his life.
The Rev. Norman BOLEY, pastor of the Knowlesville Presbyterian Church, will be assisted by the Rev. John DiGANGI, former pastor, and burial will be in West Ridgeway Cemetery.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Bertha CLAPP of Knowlesville; two sons, Roland of Niagara Falls and George L. of Medina; two daughters, Mrs. John WATT of Atlanta, Ga., and Mrs. Howard CROCKER of Clastelton-on-the-Hudson; a stepson, Royce CLIFF of Albion, RD; a sister, Mrs. Glenn CLARK of Barre Center, two brothers, Bruce CLAPP of Georgetown, SC, and Gordon CLAPP of Medina; 13 grandchildren, three nieces and a nephew and two aunts.

The death of Aaron CLARK, an old and well known resident of Medina, occurred on Friday last, after a long sickness, in the seventy-fifth year of his age. Besides his widow, he is survived by one son - Mark CLARK of Rochester - and one daughter - Mrs. Carrie McCONNELL, of Buffalo. The funeral was held at the residence on Gwinn street, Sunday afternoon, Rev. Mr. Kratzer, of Middleport, officiating. Interment at Boxwood Cemetery.

Miss Anna CLARK died at her home on Prospect avenue on Saturday last. Miss CLARK was one of the oldest residents of our village, and for many years was a popular teacher in the public schools. She is survived by a sister, Miss Julia CLARK, and two nephews, R. Stanley BRAINARD and J. Seymour BRAINARD, and one niece, Mrs. W. E. JOHNSTONE. The funeral occurred Monday afternoon, Rev. Gilbert A. SHAW officiating. The interment was in Boxwood Cemetery.

A telegram to Mrs. George ALLEN yesterday announced the sad news of the death at her home in Chicago of Mrs. W. G. CLARK, who was, before her marriage, Miss Anna ALLEN, of this place, oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles ALLEN.
All of Mrs. Clark's early life was passed in Medina. A beautiful girl, brilliant and accomplished, she was a leading figure in Medina's social circles of thirty years ago. She possessed a fine soprano voice and was for many years a member of the choir of the Presbyterian Church and often appeared in concert work.
Her health had been of the best until last summer at Atlantic City, where Dr. and Mrs. CLARK passed a portion of the season, she overexerted herself while swimming in the surf. A heart trouble followed which became pronounced during the past winter and ended in her death yesterday.
She leaves, beside her husband, one sister, Iva, (Mrs. Jerome SHEAR), of Washington, D.C. No particulars regarding the funeral or burial have as yet been received here.

The death of Mrs. Anne E. CLARK, wife of the Rev. John A. CLARK, formerly of West Shelby and Royalton Center, occurred Monday morning in her home at Silver Lake. Besides her husband she is survived by one son, Alvin, of Syracuse; two granddaughters and one brother, Charles PERRY, of Albion.
Friends may call Tuesday and Wednesday evening at the Wallace & Heath Funeral Home, 38 State Street, Middleport, from where funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 p. m. Burial will be in Carlton Cemetery, Waterport.

Charles E. CLARK, of this place, was found lying on the ground with his throat cut from ear to ear, near the Central round house on the outskirts of Cortland, about six o’clock Monday morning. He was still breathing, but was unconcious. He died on the way to the hospital without regaining consciousness, so that no antimortem statement was secured. Near CLARK's body was found a bloody knife, but there was no evidence of any struggle. While murder is suspected, it may have been a case of suicide.
CLARK was employed by Falk & Menzies, of Buffalo, who have a good roads contract near Cortland. He was well known in this county having been employed in various capacities. He leaves a wife (Clara) and four small children, who reside on South Main street, this village. The remains will be taken to Ashwood for interment.

Albion - D. Ray CLARK, 62, a native of the Town of Albion, died Saturday in his home in Barre. He was a member of the Barre Presbyterian Church and a trustee of that church for several years. He also was a member of the Barre Grange for many years.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Ethel DAUM CLARK of Barre; a son, Raymond W. CLARK of Clarendon; three daughters, Mrs. William SARGENT of Waterport, Mrs. Harold HEDGES of Niagara Falls and Mrs. John STOMPER of Batavia; four grandchildren; a brother, A. The funeral services over the remains of Miss Dora CLARK, who was drowned on Monday, were held at seven o’clock last evening, the Rev. Dr. Chapin officiating. The body was taken this morning to Wolcottsville for burial in the Eldridge Cemetery.

Albion - Mrs. Edna SMITH CLARK, 80, died at her home yesterday. She was born here and was a lifelong resident. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her husband, Fred E. CLARK; a daughter, Mrs T. Raymond SNYDER of Albion; two sons, Charles ALLEN of Albion and Gerald ALLEN of Buffalo; five grandchildren, and one great grandchild; two brothers, John SMITH of Niagara Falls and Harry SMITH of Albion.
Friends will be received at the family home at 234 Ingersoll St. until 10 a. m. Thursday, when the body will be taken to the Merrill Funeral Home at 134 East State Street, where the Rev. Earle I. Hamlin will conduct services at 2:30 p. m. Thursday. Burial will be in Mt. Albion Cemetery.

The Big Rapids, Mich. Pioneer of May 20th, contains the following: Elizabeth M. CLARK, wife of the late Edson M. CLARK, died at her home this morning after an illness of six weeks. Her daughter Mrs. C. L. GILMOUR of Greenville, Michigan, and sister, Mrs. W. L. PRESTON, of Petoskey, were with her at the time of her death. Mrs. CLARK was born in Ridgeway, New York, April 25, 1839, being seventy-six years of age. She was married at Yates, N. Y., November 26, 1862 and came to Michigan in 1871, locating at Charlotte. A few years later Mr. and Mrs. CLARK came to Big Rapids where they have resided for nearly thirty-five years. Mr. Clark died on August 29, 1913. In 1912 they celebrated their golden wedding.
Mrs. Clark was a lady of splendid Christian character, whose influence for good has been felt by a large circle of friends and acquaintances. She was one of the earliest and most faithful members of the First Baptist Church of this city, holding the office of church clerk at the time of her death.
She leaves one daughter, Mrs. C. L. GILMOUR of Greenville, Michigan; a brother, C. LEWIS, of Lyndonville, N. Y.; two sisters, Mrs. J. H. ATKINS, and Mrs. L. W. PRESTON, both of Petoskey, Mich. Rev. Walter A. Bliss of Belding a former pastor and friend of the family officiated at the funeral assisted by Rev. W. E. Orton.

Funeral Set for Crash Victim
ALBION - Funeral arrangements have been made for Mrs. Florence Smith CLARK, 63, of Pt. Breeze, who was
killed in a two car crash on Ridge Road West in Parma late Friday night. A service will be held at
2 p.m. Wednesday in the Merrill-Grinnell Funeral Home at 12 Ingersoll St., Albion, and burial will be in
Mt. Albion Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home tonight and Tuesday afternoon and evening.
Mrs. CLARK, widow of Charles CLARK, a retired Albion postal clerk who died last November, was dead on arrival at Lakeside Memorial Hospital in Brockport. She died of multiple injuries. Mrs. CLARK was riding with her son-in-law, Philbrook VICK, 47, who was driving, and her daughter, Norma, 40, and their daughter, Marlys, 16. The three VICKS were taken to Northside Hospital in Rochester and confined, but Mr. VICK was released yesterday, while his wife and their daughter still are in the hospital. Mrs. CLARK had been staying with the VICKS for a short time. The accident occurred shortly after 11 p.m. Friday when the VICK car, westbound on Ridge Road West, struck a soft shoulder and skidded sideways into the middle of the road, where it was struck by an eastbound car driven by Wilbur BECK, 45, of Sunset Ridge Motel, Ridge Road West, near Rochester. He was treated at Lakeside Hospital for chin injuries. Mrs. CLARK was sitting in the rear of the Vick car, on the side struck by the other car.
Mrs. CLARK was a member of the Kent Baptist Church and its Ladies Aid Society. Besides Mrs. VICK she leaves another daughter, Mrs. Roy RUSH of Manchester; twin sons, Elwin and Edwin SMITH of Rochester, 11 grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Henry GARROD of Albion Rd.; two brothers, Charles MILLER of Buffalo and Everett MILLER of Medina, and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. CLARK became the third Orleans County resident to be killed in a traffic accident this year, the first killed in an accident outside of the county.

F. Scott CLARK, 64, a veteran of World War I and for over thirty years a partner in the Sayers Clothing Store here before he became an investment security salesman eight years ago, died unexpectedly at 2:30 a.m. Sept. 1st in his home at 27 N. Clinton St.
He was a native of the Town of Barre and was graduated from Albion High School in 1915. He served in the United States Army in Germany during World War I, then went into the Sayers Store. Since 1951 he has been a representative of the R. H. Horner Investment Security Co., of Rochester. He was a member of the Albion I. O. O. F. Lodge which will hold a Lodge service at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday evening at the Scharett and Mitchell Funeral Home, 21 West Avenue, Albion.
He was a member of the Orleans Encampment and Sheret Post of the American Legion. He had served as chairman of the Albion Chapter of the American Red Cross for several years, was a member of the Oak Orchard Yacht Club and was a member of the Albion Methodist Church which he had served in various offices for many years. For the last ten years he had been District Lay Leader for that church.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Alice C. CLARK, a daughter, Miss Janice Clark, his mother, Mrs. Frank (Johanna JONES) CLARK, all of Albion and several cousins. Friends are invited to call at their convenience at the Scharett and Mitchell Funeral Home, 21 West Avenue, Albion, where a service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. on Friday by the Rev. William Jessop of the Albion Methodist Church. Burial will be in Millville Cemetery. It is suggested that Memorials may be made in Mr. Clark's memory to the Methodist Church Memorial Fund.

Mrs. George Carlton CLARK Sr., of Faulkner, N.Y., died yesterday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John ELLWANGER, in the town of Sweden. George J. CLARK, aged 75 years, died at Bath on Friday last. He is survived by two sons, Lewis CLARK, of Attica and Burt CLARK, of Johnson Creek. Mr. CLARK was a Civil War veteran who spent nearly all his life in the town of Yates. The Body was taken to the home of his son at Johnson Creek for interment.

Sister Harriet CLARK, daughter of Rev. Calvin P. CLARK, of the Genesee Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church, died in West Barre, Orleans County, New York, May 4th, 1860, of typhoid fever, aged 19 years. Harriet was, in many respects, a superior young lady. Possessed of a brilliant mind and a generous heart, she readily won the esteem and friendship of her associates. She always occupied a high position in the warmest affections of parents and kindred.
Some time last winter she was thoroughly converted to God, and from that time pressed steadily and faithfully on in the Christian life, till the Master called her to participate in the bliss of heaven. During her last sickness, she often expressed the firmest trust in God, and such an apprehension of the merits of the atonement by faith, as fully fitted her for a transfer to glory. Her early death falls with crushing weight upon this Christian family; but they find ample support in the blessed assurance of ultimately meeting her in heaven. While trying to preach at the funeral, I found the family wonderfully sustained by God. May they all meet in heaven.

NOTICE OF DEATH INTERRUPTS STORY OF SOLDIER’S DEEDS
MEDINA, Sept. 23. Joy over news from a soldier son turned to sorrow with dramatic suddenness in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence CLARK, West Ave., Medina. The doorbell rang Thursday evening at the Clark home and Staff Sgt. Lester Travis of Penn Yan walked in, fresh from the battlefields of Italy, where he had been fighting side by side with Staff Sgt. Howard F. CLARK, 24, son of the Medina couple.
'It was the first word we had received from Howard in a long time,” said his sister, Mrs. Joseph HUDEC, “and we were so happy to hear what he had been doing. Sgt. Travis had been talking with us less than an hour when the bell rang again. A Western Union messenger handed a telegram to my mother. It was from the War Department. Howard had been killed in action in France on Aug. 20. We couldn’t believe it at first.'
As deeply affected over the death of his buddy as were members of Staff Sgt. CLARK’s family, Sgt. Travis spent the night with the Clarks and returned to his Penn Yan home Friday. 'I was in the same company with Howard', he said, 'and just before I left to come home in July heard that the outfit was going to France but Howard’s parents did not know he had left Italy. I had been overseas 23 months and got home Sept. 4.'
Staff Sgt. CLARK left Medina in October 1940 with Co. F, 108th Infantry, and after training in this country he was sent to Hawaii. He returned here in April 1943 for additional training and was sent to Italy in February. A graduate of the Medina High School in 1938, he was active in sports. His brother, Staff Sgt. Robert CLARK of Hawaii, also left with Co. F, 108th Infantry, and the two were together in Hawaii for some time.
Surviving, besides his parents and brother, are two sisters, Mrs. Malcolm HILLand Mrs. HUDEC of Medina, and his grandmother, Mrs. Lucy CLARK of Medina.
Military services for Sgt. Clark To Be Held Tuesday Oct 26, 1944
Military funeral services for Staff Sgt. Howard CLARK, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence CLARK, 1028 West Avenue, will be held from the O’Reilly Funeral Home, East Center Street, Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock. The Rev. William L. Findlay of Cowlesville, Canada, former pastor of the Presbyterian Church, will officiate and burial will be in Boxwood Cemetery. At the funeral the James P. Clark Post, American Legion, will provide the colors, color guard and bugler, and Lincoln Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the firing squad. Escorting the body to Medina where it will arrive at 6:42 this evening, will be Pfc. Edward D. Murray of the U.S. Military Escort Detachment. The train will be met by representatives of the Clark Post.
A graduate of the Medina High School with the class of 1938, Sergeant Clark was active in sports, serving as captain of the basketball team and manager of the football team. Sergeant CLARK left Medina in October 1940 with Company F, 108th Infantry, with which he been affiliated since 1936. He trained at Fort McClellan Ala., and Ft. Ord, Calif. before leaving for service in Hawaii. He returned to the United States in April 1943, on a fourteen-day furlough, at the completion of which he returned to Ft. McClellan, as a member of the training cadre. On Christmas Day in 1943, Sergeant CLARK arrived home to spend a week delay-en route to Ft. George G. Meade, Md., from which point he was sent overseas, arriving in Italy early in February. He was assigned to the Third Infantry Division and saw action on the Anzio Beachhead. His company went into France early in August, 1944, where he met his death on August 20th.
Sergeant CLARK was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart and the Presidential Citation, also the Bronze Star Medal,which was presented to his mother by Capt. Rexford H. Dettre, Public Relations Officer, District 4 Second Service Command. The award was for action May 20, 1944, in Italy when he harrassed a position along a railroad bank which resulted in the capture of three Germans.
Besides his parents, Sergeant Clark is survived by one brother, Robert E. CLARK; two sisters, Mrs. Malcolm HILL and Mrs. John HOWE; and his grandmother, Mrs. Lucy CLARK.

James CLARK, an old and respected citizen of Medina and formerly in the jewelry business here, died January 21st at the home of his daughter Mrs. Edward L. ANDREWS, 120 Roseland avenue, aged 69 years. Mr. CLARK was born in England, coming to this country when five years old. In 1867 he was married to Julia D. SCHUYLER, who passed away in 1911. In 1912 he was united to Mrs. C. Augusta FARROW, of Niagara Falls, who survives him. He also leaves two daughters, Mrs. E. ANDREWS, of Medina, Mrs. George A. SNELL, of Victor N. Y., and one son, James H. CLARK, of Little Valley, N. Y.; one brother, William CLARK, of East Shelby, and one sister, Mrs. Edward STOWELL, of Perry, N. Y.; also three grand children.
The funeral services were held Sunday at 2:30 p. m., January 23, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. E. L. ANDREWS, Rev. Charles R. Sparks officiating. Interment in Boxwood Cemetery.

Jane C. CLARK, an old resident of this place, died from a paralytic stroke, on Friday, at the Old Ladies' Home, Rochester, where she had been for some time, aged about seventy-five years. Deceased was the widow of the late S. (Samuel) H. CLARK, for many years publisher of the Tribune. The remains were brought to this place and interred in Boxwood Cemetery Sunday.

Yesterday the sorrowing children performed the last service for their mother, Mrs. John CLARK, and deposited the mortal remains in the Tanner cemetery, while they will cherish the memory of a mother who was all kindness and generosity, but who, after 78 years of toil on this earthy plane, would fain go up higher, so her loving Father called her home, where she and the husband who preceded her will watch for the dear ones still lingering here for a while. Rev. Taylor WRIGHT performed the last sad rites.

Middleport - Word has been received here of the death early today of the Rev. John A. CLARK, 73, formerly pastor of the Royalton Center Methodist Church, who died in his home at Silver Lake.
Rev. Clark leaves one son, Alvin, of Syracuse, and two granddaughters. Friends may call at the Wallace and Heath Funeral Home here from where funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Burial will be in Carlton Cemetery, Waterport.

Mrs. Julia CLARK, wife of James CLARK, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Edward ANDREWS, of Catherine street, at four-thirty this morning, after a protracted illness of several months. Deceased was sixty-one years of age. The deceased had been a resident of Medina for a great many years, and was well known in this community. For a time she lived in Niagara Falls, but of late years she has made her home in this village. She was prominent in philanthropic and religious matters, and her demise will be mourned by a large circle of acquaintances.z
She is survived by her husband, a son, James H. CLARK, Jr., two daughters, Mrs. Edward ANDREWS, of this place, and Mrs. George SNELL, of Shelby Center, and a brother, Mr. John P. SCHUYLER, of this place.
The funeral services will be held at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Edward ANDREWS, 408 Catherine street, Friday afternoon, at two o’clock, the Rev. W. H. Harris, of the Methodist church, officiating.

Julius CLARK, aged fifty nine years, died in New York City on Friday last of spinal meningitis. Mr. CLARK formerly resided in Medina and was a brother of Mrs. C. D. MONTROSE, of Detroit, formerly of this place. His remains were brought to this place on Sunday last and interred in Boxwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Hattie CLARK, of 755 Church street, received a wire from the government at Washington on Tuesday, stating that her son, Corporal Leon CLARK, of Co. F. had died on October 20th from wounds received on the firing line on September 29th, when Co. F. charged and captured a sector of the Hindenburg line.

Jeddo - Mrs. Lottie CLARK, 80, widow of the late Olin (L.) CLARK, died last evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Roger WILLIAMS, of this community, after an illness of three months. Born at Porters Corners, near Albion, in 1869, Mrs. CLARK lived in the vicinity of Albion all her lifetime until the death of her husband four years ago. At that time she came to Jeddo to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Roger WILLIAMS, and Mr. WILLIAMS.
She was a member of the Albion Presbyterian Church and is survived in addition to her daughter, by a son, Glenn CLARK of Barre; two granddaughters, Mrs. Harold BROWN, of Rochester, and Mrs. Harold ELSOM, of Medina; a brother, Wells PORTER, of Albion, and five great grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Williams home in Jeddo until Friday, and at the Merrill Funeral Home in Albion after 2 p. m. Friday. Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Saturday from the Merrill Funeral Home, the Rev. E. I. HAMLIN officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Albion Cemetery.

Mrs. Louise ALMERY CLARK, widow of Olin CLARK, died Sunday in her Carlton home at the age of 90. The funeral service was held this afternoon at her late home, with the Rev. Lewis Ovenshire, pastor of Kuckville Methodist Church, officiating. Interment took place in Mt. Albion Cemetery.
Born January 28, 1850, in Albion, Mrs. CLARK was a daughter of William Almery, native of Lincolnshire, England, and the former Mary KETTERWELL of Yorkshire, England. She belonged to Kuckville Methodist Church and was a life member of Kuckville WCTU.
Mrs. Clark leaves two daughters, Mrs. Ella ROOT of Waterport and Mrs. Mary TURNER, Lockport; three grandchildren, Mrs. Francis ECKER, Niagara Falls, Mrs. Thomas NICHOLSON, Lockport, and Samuel TURNER, Rochester, and 6 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Samuel CLARK, nee Nellie GARDNER, of Albany, died at the residence of her son-in-law Burton FRENCH on Washington St., Monday evening of this week, aged 43 years. Mrs. CLARK had been troubled with a lung and throat trouble for several years, and was subject to choking spells and it was during one of these that she died. She had made her daughter a visit of several weeks and intended to leave for her home today taking one of her grandchildren with her.
The sad news was telegraphed to her husband, who formerly published the Mail in this village, and he arrived in town the next morning. The funeral service was held today and the interment made in Boxwood Cemetery at Medina.
(Note: My g-grandmother was (Nellie) Lillian Clark French. She was married to Burton Nathan French, son of Nathan French and Marietta Breed. Both Nathan and Marietta, along with Burton and Willis their sons, are buried West Ridgeway Cemetery, Ridgeway, NY)

Yates - Again it becomes our sad duty to chronicle the passing away of another of the early settlers of this town. Rodney CLARK died last week Monday night at the age of eighty-four. Not only did he do his full share in reclaiming our land from its primeval forests but his moral influence was always on the side of right.
He was a man of sterling integrity in all the walks of life, as a friend, a neighbor and a citizen. The breath of slander never attempted to tarnish his good name. He was for years an active and consistent member of the Baptist church and his activity only ceased through the infirmities of age.
Mr. CLARK was thrice married and leaves a widow (Priscilla PAXON) and four children to mourn his loss.
(Burial site of Rodney is unknown. 1st and 2nd wives, both named Sally, are buried in Daniel’s Cemetery. Priscilla, his 3rd wife is buried in Lynhaven Cemetery.)

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in the Grinnell Funeral Home, Albion for Mrs. Ruth WORTHINGTON CLARK, 46, whose death occurred in the Arnold Gregory Memorial Hospital on Friday, a short time after she was admitted. Mrs. CLARK was stricken suddenly with a cerebral hemorrhage and expired a short time later. The Rev. Gordon KURTZ of the Kuckville Methodist Church, of which the deceased was a member, officiated and burial was in Carlton Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband Denton R. CLARK; a daughter, Mrs. Robert BARRY; two sons, Denton R. CLARK Jr., and John H. CLARK and two grandsons, all of Lyndonville; a sister, Mrs. Orin W. SOULES of Spencerport, and three brothers, J. R. WORTHINGTON of Penfield, and F. A. WORTHINGTON and W. W. WORTHINGTON of Rochester.

Death of Samuel H. CLARK
The patrons of the Tribune and the many friends of the late editor
and proprietor will be grieved to learn of his death. For a long
time he has be ill, the past few months seriously so, and his demise was
not unexpected by his intimate friends.
Samuel H. CLARK, Sr. was born near Harrisburg, Pa., Feb. 28th, 1809. When he was about eleven years old his parents removed to Milton, Northumberland Co., where he afterwards learned the printing business. In 1837 he returned to Harrisburg and established a newspaper. Represented the County of Dauphin in the Legislature two years. Removed to Philadelphia in 1845, and established the Christian Chronicle, which he subsequently sold on account of failing health. Was six years Collector of Customs in Philadelphia. Then removed to Syracuse, in this state, and published the Daily Evening Chronicle until burned out in 1857, when he removed to this place and connected himself with the Medina Tribune, which was sold to the present proprietors on the first of January, 1871. After the breaking out of the rebellion, he was Commissioner of the Board of Enrollment during the drafts, which appointment he held for several years. Was appointed Posmaster of this village in 1867, and officiated in that capacity until the appointment of the present incumbent in March, 1872. During a residence of nearly sixteen years in this village, the deceased had made a wide circle of acquaintances, by whom he was generally beloved and highly respected.
He was a man of generous impulses, and will long be held in remembrance for his many good deeds and kindly acts. As a citizen, he was highly esteemed and in whatever capacity he has been called, his duties were discharged honestly faithfully and satisfactorily. He was a member of the Baptist Church, having experienced religion at an early age, and the society mourn his loss as that of a departed brother. Mr. CLARK was afflicted with paresis, (a drying up or softening of the brain) and for some time he has apparently been deranged. His health gradually failed him, until his death on Monday evening, the 7th inst. Samuel H. CLARK, Sr. is interred at Boxwood Cemetery.

Samuel H. CLARK, Jr. dropped dead in Albany a few weeks ago. Heart failure was the cause of death. For many years Mr. CLARK had been employed as a proof reader in the state printing office. He formerly resided in Medina and was a son of S. H. CLARK, Sr., at one time publisher of the Tribune. Mr. CLARK was also editor of the Middleport Mail.

Michael CLEARY, of Albion, a brakeman on the N. Y. Central, was instantly killed this noon at Holley by falling between the freight cars and being run over. The wife of the deceased was formerly Miss Margaret KENNEDY, of Medina.

The death of Thomas CLEARY, 75, son of the late Thomas and Alice SHEA CLEARY occurred at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday at the Lockport Memorial Hospital where he had been taken following a fall at the St. Clare Manor on Friday of last week. He had been a resident of Lockport for several years.
He was born and lived in Medina his entire life until the past few years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church, the Holy Name Society and a 50-year member of Medina Council, Knights of Columbus. He is survived by four brothers, Daniel J. and Edward CLEARY of Medina, John K. CLEARY of Ponca City, Oklahoma; Arthur J. CLEARY of Miami, Fla., and one sister, Leona CLEARY of Buffalo.
Funeral Services will be held at the Cleary Funeral Home at 8:30 Saturday morning and at 9 o’clock at St. Mary’s Church. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Oliver E. CLEMENT, 19 years old, died on Monday at the United States Naval Hospital, Chelsea, Mass. Mr. CLEMENT was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alvah CLEMENT, of Albion, where his parents are well known.

for many years.
Surviving are his wife, the former Bertha SWAN of Knoelesville; one son, Royce CLIFF; one
granddaughter, Joan CLIFF, and a gtandson, Lynn Royce CLIFF, all of Albion; a sister,
Mrs. George KLAFEHN of Rochester; and several nieces and nephews.

William CLIFF, aged 62 years, a farmer residing at Kent, died on Thursday.
He was born at Ogdensburg, and had resided in the town of Carlton about fifty-five years.

Died: In Shelby, January 16th, of heart disease, Arrilla, wife of Jacob CLUM,
aged 51 years.
The deceased had for many years been a faithful member of the M. E. Church,
beloved in life, prepared for death, she passed away.
One mark of her life, and which rendered her dear,
She’ll reap the reward of her labors on earth;
Her own dear children, who last saw her face

The death of Mrs. Clara E. CLUTE, 81, widow of Charles E. CLUTE, occurred last night
at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles BUTTON, at West Shelby.
In addition to her daughter, Mrs. CLUTE is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Emma
PARKS of Grand Rapids, Mich., Miss Lizzie Jacobs of Victor, and Miss Daisy Jacobs
of Rochester; one brother Everett Jacobs of Victor, and one grandson.
Funeral services will be held from the Hartt Funeral Home Thursday at 2:30 p.m. with
the Rev. Edward J. Simpson officiating. Burial will be in
Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

Mrs. Mary A. CLUTE died Saturday evening at the home of her daughter,
Mrs. Harvey STROUSE on South ave., after a short illness. She is survived
by two sons, Fred and *Dwight, of Medina, and three daughters, Mrs. Victor
STANDISH, Mrs. Harvey STROUSE of Medina, and Mrs. Henry RUSH of Albion. The
funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs.
Strouse, Rev. L. L. Rogers officiating. Burial was in
Millville Cemetery.

Funeral services will be held in the Hartt Funeral Home, 226 Pearl St. tomorrow at
2:30 p. m. for the late Ralph CLUTE, 45, whose death occurred Friday, December 1st,
in the Medina Memorial Hospital following a long illness. The Rev. John E. WILKINSON,
rector of St. John's Episcopal Church, will officiate and burial will be in
Boxwood Cemetery.
Mr. CLUTE was born in the Town of Shelby March 27, 1905 the son of Fred and
Gertrude (GRATRICK) CLUTE. For many years he was employed by White Bros. Corp.
He was a member of Medina Lodge of Elks.
Surviving besides his wife, Mrs. Amanda (WHITNEY) CLUTE, and his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Fred CLUTE, are a son, Eugene CLUTE, MM3, with the United States Navy,
a brother Merle CLUTE, and one grandson, all of Medina.

The death of Whittingham CLEVELAND occurred Wednesday morning, January 31st, after
an illness of ten years. The deceased was forty-three years of age and the son of
the late DeLaucey CLEVELAND of New York. He is survived by a wife, who was
