Mrs. Ethel COANN died at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, last evening of pneumonia. Particuars will be given in tomorrow‘s issue.
The remains of the late Mrs. Ethel James COANN, who died at Rochester yesterday, following an operation, were brought to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Augustus W. Behrend, 185 Main street, Albion, today. The funeral will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the house; the Rev. Mr. Dunham will officiate. Interment at Mt. Albion Cemetery.
Mrs. COANN was born in Jeddo, N. Y. and was 40 years of age. Since the death of her husband, Pearl COANN, six years ago, she had spent rnuch of her time in travel and with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles JAMES, of Jeddo, besides whom she leaves one sister, Mrs. Frank BEAU, of Wallington, N.Y. , and two brothcrs, William JAMES, of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Robert JAMES of Jeddo.
The funeral of Mrs. Pearl (Ethel JAMES) COANN, who died in Rochester (30 Jan 1917), aged 40 years, was held from the home of A. W. Behrend in this village. She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. JAMES of Jeddo, one sister and two brothers. The remains were placed in the vault at Mt. Albion.

Frank H. COANN, nephew of E. T. COANN, and son of the late Geo. W. COANN, the missionary, died at Wheeling, W. Va., on Wednesday last. He had but just completed his education, which was very thorough, and was about to enter upon the practice of medicine. He leaves a brother, Rev. F. G. COANN, and his mother, who lives at Hudson. The remains were brought to Albion and interred in Mt. Albion Cemetery on Sunday.

Albion, Nov. 28. - Pearl Clement COANN, one of Albion's most prominent residents and benefactors, died at his home in South Main Street Sunday night at 11 oclock, following an illness of several days with typhoid-pneumonia, aged 55 years.
Mr. COANN was born in this village July 31, 1855, and was the son of the late Ezra T. COANN, founder of the Citizens National Bank of this village. He was a lawyer by profession, having begun his study of law with the late former Attorney General John CUNNEEN, and completing his legal course in the law office of Benjamin E. WILLIAMS, of Albion. He was admitted to the bar in 1882. He received his education principally through a tutor.
Mr. COANN was the founder of the Albion Town Free Library, which was later consolidated with the Swan Library. For many years he was editor and proprietor of the Albion Free Lance, which he started in 1890.
The deceased was the pioneer in the crated apple shipping business, being the first one to export American apples to the foreign markets in boxes instead of barrels, and at the time of his death was president of the New York-Glasgow, Scotland, Wholesale Exporting Company, of which he was the organizer.
Mr. COANN was a staunch Republican in politics. He was an extensive European traveler, having crossed the Atlantic Ocean forty-two times. He was a. man of high literary attainments, well versed in the works of the best authors. Besides being a scholar, he was an accurate lawyer. His acts of generosity were many, but were given little publicity.
The deceased was a member of the Orleans County Bar Association and of Christ's Episcopal Church. His funeral, which will be held at his home tomorrow, Tuesday evening at 7:30 oclock, will be strictly private. Rev. Francis S. DUNHAM will officiate. Interment will be in Mt. We learn since writing the above, of the sudden death of Miss Delia COBB, of Ridgeway, who died of pleurisy, after a sickness of only five days. Deceased was an adopted daughter of J. 0.(?) COBB. She was to have been married last Friday, but the wedding was postponed because she was so sick. She grew rapidly worse until Monday afternoon when death claimed her for his own. How sudden and sad.
The sudden death of Miss Delia COBB, heretofore mentioned in The Tribune, cast a feeling of sadness over a large circle of young associates and friends. The family are in the deepest sorrow over the untimely loss of their daughter and friend, and long will they cherish as a rich treasure of love the memory of her worth.
She was to have been married on her 26th birthday, Feb. 18th, to Mr. Jefferson D. WATERBURY, and great preparations had been made for the wedding; but how suddenly is joy often turned to sorrow. She was taken sick on the 16th and died on the 21st. The funeral at the M E. Church, Lyndonville, Feb. 23d, was largely attended and was truly a solemn occasion.
Deceased had from her childhood been a member of the Lyndonville M. E. Sunday School, and being faithful in her attendance and pleasant in her ways had won the esteem of all.

The death of Mrs. William COBB, a former resident of Medina, occurred at her home on
Clarendon street, Albion, Thursday morning after a short illness, aged 78 years. She is
survived by her husband, 6 children, Miss Cora COBB of Albion, Mrs. Fred JOHNS of Eagle
Harbor, Frank W. COBB and Mrs. Burt CASEMENT of Medina, Fred H. COBB of Syracuse and
Mrs. Franklin KIDD of Cleveland, Ohio; three brothers, Walter SHREEVE of Elm Creek,
Nebraska, Alva SHREEVE of Carron, Saskatchewan, Canada, Fred SHREEVE of Madison, Arkansas,
and one sister, Mrs. George WOOLSTON of Victor, also 6 grandchildren.
The funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 from her home in Albion. Burial at Bates Road Cemetery, Medina. The deceased was a former resident of Medina but for the past 45 years had made her home in Albion. She was a member of the Medina Women's Relief Corps and an honorary member of the Spanish War Auxiliary.

Mrs. Rose S. COBB, 73, of 110 East Center St., died last night in a Buffalo hospital after a long illness. She was born in Pennsylvania on Nov. 3, 1886. Mrs. COBB had served as public welfare officer for the Town of Ridgeway for twenty-five years until her retirement in 1957. She attended First Methodist Church and was a past rnatron of Medina Chapter 381, Order of Eastern Star. She had been secretary for the organization for many years, and belonged to the Past Matrons and Past Patrons Club. She was also a member of Welcome Rebekah/ Lodge, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and the Women of the Moose.
Her survivors include her husband, John B. COBB; one daughter, Mrs. Charles (Margaret) SLATTERY, and one son, John B. COBB Jr., all of Medina; four grandchildren. Also, three brothers Harry STUMPF, Perry STUMPF and William STUMPF, and one sister, Mrs. Charles RUTZ, all of Emporium, Pa.; several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Barnes-Tuttle Funeral Home, on Pearl St., where funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Boxwood Cemetery.

William COBB, 86, died at his home on Clarendon street here Saturday. He was a veteran of the Civil War in which he served as a member of Company A of the 151st New York Volunteer Infantry. Mr. COBB is survived by two sons, Frank of Medina and Fred of Rochester, and four daughters, Miss Cora J. COBB of Albion, Mrs. Fred JOHNS of Eagle Harbor, Mrs. Bert CASEMENT of Medina and Mrs. Franklin KIDD of Medina.
Funeral was held Monday from the home. Burial in Bates Road Cemetery.

Darius COE, a well-known and highly respected citizen of Medina, died at the home of his son, Albert J. COE, on Thursday evening of last week at the age of eighty two years. He had been in feeble health for some years, but the end came somewhat unexpectedly to his friends. It is thought the immediate cause of his death may have been a slight stroke of apoplexy.
Mr. COE was born in 1820 in the eastern part of the state, county of Fulton, being one of a family of four boys, who received from their parents a careful christian training, an evidence of which is seen in the family temperance pledge pasted in the old family Bible and subscribed by both parents and the four boys.
In 1859 Mr. Coe was married to Miss Mary E. POLER, of Medina. The first years of their married life were spent upon a farm near Gloversville, but in 1878 they moved to the farm just west of this village which thereafter was their home. He was for some years an elder in the Presbyterian Church, of which he was a useful and valued member. His religion was of the quiet, unostentatious sort which expresses itself in a life of the strictest integrity and whose influence may always be counted on the side of right.
The funeral as held on Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock, the Rev. H. F. Ellinwood officiating. The body was taken to Gloversville for interment in the cemetery where the wife and three daughters are buried. It was accompanied by the only surviver of the family, Albert J. COE, of this village.

Ellen HEDLEY, wife of Albert J. COE, died Friday, December 12, at her home 1011 West avenue. Mrs. COE was born October 11, 1863, at Medina, N. Y., in the old Hedley home on West avenue. Her entire life was spent in Medina. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church and prominent in its many activities.
Besides a wide circle of friends she leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, a son, Reginald, a daughter, Beatrice, and one sister, Mrs. Annie E. CALDWELL, of Pasadena California. Funeral services were held at the residence Sunday afternoon, Rev. Walter Foss officiating. The interment was at Boxwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Helen B. COFFEY, 62, of 135 Ensign Ave., died in Medina Memorial Hospital Friday evening after a long illness. She was born April 27, 1897, in Medina and had lived here her entire lifetime. She is survived by her husband, John Morgan COFFEY; one daughter, Mrs. Roger BALDWIN; her mother, Mrs. Catherine BOYLAND, all of Medina. Also, a brother, Francis BOYLAND of Lockport; five sisters, Mrs. Martin O’BRIEN of Albion, and Miss Mary BOYLAND, Mrs. Bessie SULLIVAN, Mrs. Beatrice FOX and Mrs. Anna KELLEY, all of Medina; several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Barnes-Tuttle Funeral Home, Pearl St., where a prayer service will be held at 9 a.m. tomorrow with a funeral mass at 9:30 in St. Mary’s Church.

William COFFEY, 52 years of age, a well known electrical lineman, of Albion, was drowned in the canal at the Main street bridge at 11 o’clock Monday night, and his body was recovered at 2 o;clock Tuesday morning, a short distance east of the place where he fell into the water.

Death of C. E. COLBURN
Caleb E. COLBURN, one of Albion's best known business men, died at
his home on West street on Thursday evening last, aged 84 years.
He was born in Rutland, Vt., and when he was 11 years of age the family removed to Rushford, N.Y. About 1850 he located in the town of Sweden, and in 1863 settled in Albion, and with two brothers established the lumber business on West Bank street which had since been conducted by C. E. Colburn & Co. Wallace E. Colburn represented the interests of his father, who resided at Rushville, in the firm from the outset and is now the sole survivor of the firm. One evening several years ago, as the deceased was returning home from the lumber yard, he was made the victim of a cruel assault by some one whose identity was never discovered, and the injuries then inflicted emfeebled him to such an extent that he never recovered.
He is survived by his wife (Elizabeth HILL) and son Frank E. COLBURN, postmaster at Medina. The funeral was held on Sunday afternoon and was conducted by Rev. W.A.V.E. Pattyson, and the interment was at Mount Albion, where his oldest son, Charles, is buried.

Mrs. Caleb COLBURN
The funeral of Mrs. Caleb COLBURN late of Medina, but for about forty years a
resident of this village, was held in the M. E. church here Monday afternoon.
Mrs. COLBURN was 86 years of age. She was a very devoted christian and her life
in this community and in the church was remarkable for its sweetness and
usefulness. The Rev. W. A. Harris, pastor in Medina, came to Albion in charge of
the services, and the local pastor assisted in the same. Mrs. COLBURN spent the
last years of her life in the home of her son, Frank, who was postmaster at
Medina, and who passed away yesterday morning.

Mrs. Emma S. COLBURN of West Shelby, aged 67 years, passed away very suddenly at one o’clock this morning. She leaves three sons, George L. of Buffalo; James Franklin with whom she lived, and Ogden P. of LaSalle; also one half sister of Remington, Ind., and a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the house. Burial at Mt. Albion Cemetery.

Pioneer Resident Passes At Albion
Mrs. Fannie E. COLBURN, widow of George COLBURN died
Saturday at Rosa Villa Nursing Home, at the great age of 94 years. She resided
with her family on East Park Street in the house now occupied by Mr. and Mrs.
George Porter. She was the oldest member of the Albion First Presbyterian Church
and its Women's Missionary Society. She was born in LeRoy on July 13, 1862.
She leaves two daughters, Mrs. Ray MANN of Kent, and Mrs. Michael I. SPIERDOWIS of Albion; two sons, Clarence of Cleveland, Ohio, and Jack of Onieda; 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and two brothers, Geo. BENZING of Erie, Pa., and John BENZING of Buffalo, as well as seven nephews and four nieces. Services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the Grinnell Funeral Home, Rev. Frank L.P. Donaldson, officiating. Burial at Mt. Albion Cemetery.

Mr. Frank E. COLBURN, postmaster of this village, died at his home on Park Avenue at six-thirty this morning of a complication of diseases. Mr. COLBURN has been in poor health for several months, but until the last two, his condition was not considered at all serious. Although every effort was made to ward off the encroachments of disease, he gradually sank until the end.
He came to this town nearly a quarter of a century ago and prior to his coming here, he resided in Rochester and in Albion and Syracuse. He learned the printer's trade in Albion, and at one time was employed on the 'American' of that Village. Later he engaged in the shoe business with Ingalls, of Syracuse, and managed his stores in Rochester, Syracuse and Lockport, coming to Medina about thirty years ago and opening a branch store of that concern which he managed for many years and until he succeeded the company. He conducted the business most successfully until his appointment as postmaster ten years ago, when he retired. Mr. COLBURN was one of the incorporators of the Medina Savings and Loan Association, and has ever since been one of its directors, and while acting as such has been foremost in the promotion of the upbuilding of the village.
He was a member of the B. P. 0. E., of the I. O. 0. F., a prominent member and director of the Chamber of Commerce and for years a member of the executive committee of the Republican County Central Committee. Always a staunch republican, he worked zealously for the party and for years he had active charge of the management of the local republican campaigns, and did much to bring about the success of the part with which he was affiliated. He was well known throughout the county, and in fact, throughout the state.
About ten years ago, he was appointed postmaster of this village by Roosevelt and two years later was reappointed for a full term of four years, and again four years ago. President Taft reappointed him about a month since for another term of four years, and during his illness the Senate confirmed the nomination. In all, he has been named for the office for four times, and it is a testimonial of the efficiency with which he discharged the duties of that important position.
No task was too arduous, no detail too small, but he gave it his strictest attention and most thorough consideration. He was careful and painstaking in every branch of the matters pertaining to governmental affairs. He was exceptionally systematic, and succeeded in placing the affairs of the local office in such a condition as not only to receive the approval of the various government inspector, but to merit the very high approval of the department at Washington. The deceased has been identified in numerous enterprises, always active in every public affair and a strong advocate of the progress of the village. When anyone was needed to take charge of the management of any celebration to do the thousand and one things necessary to make an event a success, appeal was made to Mr. COLBURN, and he never faltered. No matter how occupied his time might be, he gave willingly and unstintingly of his services and his money to advance the interests of Medina. A more public spirited citizen has never resided here, and, it has been said that scarcely a single public improvement has been undertaken in Medina but has had the active and loyal support of the deceased.
Mr. COLBURN was highly esteemed in this community. He was known by nearly everyone, and his genial manner, his kind considerate ways and his untiring efforts to please all made him a friend to the community. The deceased is survived by his widow (Ida), two daughters, Mrs. George (Florence) WELCH of Geneva, and Miss Claribel COLBURN of Medina and two sons, Robert and Edward.
The funeral of Frank E. COLBURN was held from his late residence at three-thirty this afternoon, and was largely attended by the many friends and relatives of the deceased. By an order of the Department at Washington, the postoffice was closed from three until five o’clock, and all the employes attended in a body, as did the directors of the Medina Savings and Loan Association and the Elks Lodge. There was a wealth of floral tributes, bespeaking the esteem and affection in which he is held in the community.
The services were brief and simple, and were conducted by the Rev. F. T. Latham, formerly of this place, assisted by Rev. W. A. Harris, of the Methodist church. The bearers were Morton A. Bowen, Algernon B. Shattuck, Morgan L. Brainard, and Watson H. Whipple, of this place, Samuel P. Milby, of Albion, and John Pulsifer, of Rochester.
Interment was at the family plot at Boxwood Cemetery.

Geo. COLBURN Dies - Was Married 68 Yrs.
Death claimed George A. COLBURN, 89, Friday,
August 17, a month after he and Mrs. COLBURN had observed their 68th wedding
anniversary. He died in the Hazard Nursing Home where he had been a patient only
a short time. A native of Albion, he had married the former Miss Fannie BENZING,
July 19, 1883, and they have made their home in Albion ever since.
Born in January, 1862, he had gone to work at the age of 15 in the Albion lumber yard established by his father and two uncles in 1861. After about 30 years at that work, he had taken employment with the line crew of the Buffalo, Lockport and Rochester trolley for five years and in 1912 he entered the freight office of the New York Central. With the exception of a year, 1927-1928, in which he was on the Barge Canal stopgate at Lattin's Bridge, he remained in the railroad freight office until 1932 when he was retired on pension at the age of 70. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church here and of the NYC Athletic Association.
The funeral service was held Monday afternon in the Grinnell Funeral Home with the Rev. Earle I. Hamlin officiating the burial was in Mount Albion. Mr. COLBURN leaves his wife, two sons, Clarence of Cleveland and John COLBURN of Oneida; two daughters, Mrs. Ray MANN of Carlton and Mrs. Michael SPIERDOWIS of Albion, with whom he and Mrs. COLBURN had made their home in the late years; also 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Ida Davis of Seattle, Wash.

The death of Mrs. Ida L. COLBURN, aged 90, widow of the late Frank E. COLBURN, a former postmaster of Medina, occurred in the home of her son, E. (Edward) H. COLBURN in Phoenix, Arizona, on Tuesday, October 4th.
Mr. and Mrs. COLBURN will accompany the body of his mother to Medina and will arrive early Monday morning. Friends may call at the Hartt Funeral Home from 10 a. m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday. Graveside funeral service will be held at Boxwood Cemetery at 2 p.m. on Monday. The Rev. Edward SIMPSON, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, will officiate.
Surviving are two sons, E. H. COLBURN of Phoenix and Dr. Robert E. COLBURN of Osborn, Ohio, and two daughters, Mrs. J. S. (Claribel) PIXLEY and Mrs. Florence WELCH, both of Phoenix.

M. Warren COLBURN, aged 53 years died Sunday evening after a short illness at his home on Ohio street. He is survived by his wife; one son, Charles, of Rochester, and one daughter, Mrs. Watson T. BARNES, of Lockport. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon, Rev. William L. Findlay officiating. Burial was in Mt. Albion Cemetery. The bearers were B. Edward Slack, Thomas Slack, Orin Butler, Walter Olds, Herman Gillmeister and V. A. Acer.

Mrs. Carrie P. COLE died at Schenectady, N. Y., on October 15th, aged 66 years, at the home of her son, Charles COLE. Mrs. ColeCOLE was for many years a resident of Eagle Harbor and was a daughter of the late Charles A. DANOLDS of that place. She leaves two sons, Charles COLE of Schenectady and Marc W. COLE of Eagle Harbor and one brother, Warren S. DANOLDS of Albion.

Darius W. COLE, an old and well known resident of Medina, died on Friday last, aged seventy-six years, after a lingering illness. He was born in Saratoga county, N. Y., and received a common school education, learned surveying and was an old-time schoolmaster. In 1835 he moved to Knowlesville and was Postmaster under President Polk, also Justice of the Peace. In 1852 he came to Medina, was elected Justice of the Peace, and served in that capacity for over twenty years. He was chief surveyor of the Ridge road from Rochester to Lewiston at the time it was ordered re-surveyed by the State, and it is said that he has at one time or another surveyed nearly every farm in the county.
He leaves a wife (Jane M.) and two sons, one living at Fremont, O., and the other at Toledo, O. Funeral services were held at the residence on Park Avenue on Sunday morning and the remains deposited in the cemetery at Knowlesville.

DeWitt H. COLE, a former Albion boy, was among the victims of the Hanalie, which was wrecked recently at Duxbury reef off San Francisco. He was a traveling salesman and was returning from a trip to Europe. The young man was 36 years of age.

Mrs. Jane COLE, widow of the late D. W. COLE, died quite suddenly Sunday evening at the residence of John Weld, on West street, where she had made her home for some time past. The cause of death was heart failure. Deceased was seventy-four years. The funeral services were held at the house yesterday afternoon and the remains taken to Mt. Albion Cemetery for interment.

COLE — Died, at his father's residence in Knowlesville on Saturday, Dec. 22, 1883, Sands COLE, Jr., aged 32 years.
An intimate acquaintance with the subject of this notice for the past thirty years, has greatly endeared his memory to the writer. Prepossessing in person, true in his friendships, despising all fraud and pretension, with an intellect of the first order, and well stored with a variety of useful knowledge on all the living issues of the day; with fine conversational powers and a natural and earnest love for truth, he took the most direct methods for its investigation and expression, and became thus one of the most agreeable and interesting of companions. With intuitive grasp of his subject, and a keen analysis of all its relations, his mind logically and with quick perception arranged all the salient points for ready solution; and it is not too much to say, under circumstances that might have led him into wider fields of action and thought, he would have opened a successful career and have left the impress of an unusually bright intellect on his times. As it is, he will be kindly remembered by his friends, who appreciated the natural and sterling qualities of his mind and heart. They believe that in the wise providence of the Infinite, these qualities will continue to grow in brightness and purity, while the dross of this life has withered to dust and forgetfulness.

The body of Warren COLE, formerly of Eagle Harbor, whose death occurred on the 3rd inst at his home in Buffalo, was brought to Eagle Harbor Friday. The interment was in Anderson’s cemetery on the Ridge.

Edward COLEY, aged 94, a life long resident of Orleans County, died Friday at his home at Riches Corners near Albion. He and Mrs. COLEY had just celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary. He is survived by his wife (Julia), who is 92 years old, and one daughter, Mrs. Hattie LORD, of Albion, The funeral was held Sunday afternoon.

About two o'clock yesterday afternoon the dead body of Bridget COLLINS, aged sixty-five years, who has been missing since Monday, was discovered in the race in the rear of Joseph Brooks’ blacksmith shop by persons who, in company with her son Thomas, had been searching for her since Tuesday morning. The body was removed to her residence on Elm street and Coroner James notified who impaneled a jury. At an inquest held last evening a verdict was rendered that the cause of Mrs. Collins' death was drowning.

Kittie, the seven-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cornelius (Elizabeth) COLLINS, was drowned in the canal about seven o’clock Monday evening. She was playing with several other children on the dock in the rear of her home, just north of White’s Hotel, when she accidentally fell into the water. It was about ten minutes before the body was recovered, and although every effort was made to resuscitate her it was of no avail. This is the third child who has fallen into the canal at that place since the opening of navigation. The other two were rescued.

Mrs. Ella COLLINS, nee MUNZEL, was born April 26, 1978, at Hartland, Niagara County. In her earliest infancy she was baptized and received her religious education in the Lutheran Church of which she became a communicant member through confirmation. June 22, 1915, she was married to Jabe Collins of Raybrook N. Y. She was a lifelong faithful member of the Lutheran Church until her death on Good Friday morning at 5 o'clock, reaching the age of 48 years, 11 months and 19 days. Besides her husband, Jabe COLLINS, she leaves to mourn her demise two sons, Earl and Roy, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles MUNZEL of Shelby, one sister Mrs. Fred QUINTERN of Medina, five brothers; Fred and Carl of Jeddo, Herman and Ernest of East Shelby; and Andrew of County Line. The funeral service will be conducted at the residence, 120 Chestnut Street, Medina at 2:00 p. m. and 2:15 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Rev. Poeckler officiating.

Mrs. Burt COLLINS died at her home on South Main street yesterday morning. Mrs COLLINS was 29 years of age and leaves, besides her husband, two daughters, four and six years of age. She is also survived by her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. (Samuel) Fitzgerald of Hartland Corners, and 4 sisters. Funeral will take place from the house Tuesday at 1 o’clock.

John COLLINS, 920 Orient Street, a Medina restaurant operator for the past 18 years, died suddenly early yesterday morning at Medina Memorial Hospital. COLLINS was a communicant of St. Mary's Church here and a member of Holy Name Society. He operated a restaurant on East Center Street.
Surviving are his wife, Hazel (SMITH) COLLINS; two sisters, Mrs. Thomas MALONEY and Miss Genevieve COLLINS; and one brother, Edward, all of Medina. One niece, Mrs. Wallace RICH, R.F.D., Medina, also survives him.
Services are scheduled Wednesday morning at 8:30 at Cleary Funeral Home, Park Avenue, and at 9 am. at St. Mary's Church, the Very Rev. Henry B. SHAW officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Michael J. COLLINS, 85, former Medina resident, died early this morning at the Cupola Nursing Home, Brockport. Mr. COLLINS had lived in Brockport for the past 30 years and had been a patient at the nursing home for about a week. Born in Bergen, N. Y., Mr. COLLINS spent many years in Medina, and was superintendent of the Medina Stamping & Machine Co. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Miss Marjorie L. COLLINS of Medina; a son, Leo E. COLLINS of Lyndonville; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one niece and one nephew. One other son, James M. COLLINS, died in 1933.
Services will be held at the O’Reilly Funeral Home, East Center St., Wednesday at 9 a.m. and at 9:30 from St. Mary's Church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. The family has gratefully declined flowers.

William COLLINS died at Willard State hospital, Sunday morning. He was a well known Albion man, most of his life being spent there. He served several years in the Union army during the war and was one of the soldiers who helped capture J. Wilkes Booth, the slayer of President Lincoln. Mr. Collins received $1,500 as his share of the reward for his capture.

Gordon, a little son of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse COLMAN, of Shelby Center, aged about one year, was fatally scalded on Saturday last. The child’s mother had been washing in the dooryard in the rear of the house and had left a boiler standing on the ground with some boiling hot water in it while she went into the house for a few moments. The little fellow, who was playing near by, in some manner fell into the water and was scalded in a terrible manner about the face, neck and body. His cries attracted the attention of his mother who rescued him as soon as possible. Dr. James was summoned but could do nothing to save the little one’s life, and he died in great agony about two hours after the accident happened. The funeral was held Monday. The parents have the sympathy of a wide circle of friends in their sad affliction.

Thomas COLMAN, a well known farmer residing in West Shelby, died very suddenly of heart disease, at his home, on Thursday morning last, March 15th. He had been in rather poor health for a few weeks, but able to be around every day. On Wednesday evening he ate his supper, talked with his family and retired as usual, and next morning was found dead in his bed, having passed away without a struggle.
Mr. COLMAN was born in England and left there for this country just forty years, to a day, previous to his death. He first settled in the eastern part of Shelby, but twenty three years ago left there and bought the farm in West Shelby where he has since lived. His age was 71 years. He was the second child in a family of 13 children, six of whom still survive him.
At the age of 28 years he was united in marriage with Miss Susanna AMES, with whom he lived for 39 years, she having died in Nov. 1881. He leaves a family of three sons and three daughters, all of whom are grown up. When Mr. and Mrs. COLMAN came to this country they were poor laboring people, but by hard work and economy they succeeded in securing an excellent well furnished farm, provided well for his family, left his children a nice competency, and also did his part in public and benevolent enterprises. Mr. Colman was an industrious, quiet, peaceable, honest man; a good father, good neighbor, good citizen. He joined the Presbyterian Church at Millville about 35 years ago, but afterwards took a letter from there and united with the Christian Church at West Shelby, where he held his membership at the time of his death.
His funeral services were largely attended in the Church at West Shelby, on Sunday last, (the 18th inst) the sermon being preached by the pastor, Rev. D. W. Moore, who took his text from James. 4:14 "What is your Life." Rev. F. R. Wade, a former pastor and intimate friend of the family, took part in the exercises.

The death of Walter T. COLMAN, 84, well known retired farmer of Shelby, occurred late yesterday afternoon in the Poler Nursing Home, Park Avenue. Born in the Town of Barre November 25, 1868, Mr. Colman had been a lifelong resident of the county and lived in the Colman farm at Shelby for 45 years. He was active in the Shelby Baptist Church and a deacon at the time of his death.
Surviving are two daughters, Miss Edith COLMAN and Mrs. Alvin ESKELSON, both of Shelby, two sisters, Mrs. Robert JAMES of Knowlesville and Mrs. Luella SHEA of Buffalo; a brother, Bert COLMAN of Shelby and several nieces and nephews. The body is at his late home in Shelby from where services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. The Rev. William Towner of East Cleveland, Ohio, a former pastor of the Shelby Church, will officiate and burial will be in Tanner Cemetery.

Albion, Aug. 8. - The death of Orson B. COLONEY, one of the best known horsemen and farmers in Western New York occurred at 9 o'clock yesterday forenoon at his farm home on the Ridge Road between the villages of Gaines and Childs, aged 67 years.
Mr. COLONEY was born in the town of Carlton, Orleans County, September 8, 1843, and moved to his present home over twenty-five years ago from Carlton. He was an extensive dealer in western horses, which he sold throughout the western Counties of New York state. In politics he was a Democrat.
Besides his widow (Rosabell BACON) he leaves two daughters, Mrs. Belle BOVEE, of Chicago, Ill., and Mrs. John PLOWMAN, of Waterport, also one son, George COLONEY, of Chili, NY

Benjamin B. COLTON, 69, died this morning in Medina Memorial Hospital after a heart attack last Thursday at his home. Mr. Colton formerly resided in Johnson Creek and Hartland while employed at Gasport. During the past two years he has made his home with his foster daughter, Mrs. Elwyn FULLER and Mr. FULLER of Salt Works Road.
Surviving besides his foster daughter is a nephew, Laverne COLTON of Lewiston, Maine. He was a member of Hartland Masonic Lodge. Mr. COLTON is resting at the Breame Funeral Home, Gasport. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
Funeral services for Benjamin B. COLTON, 69, who died yesterday in Medina Memorial Hospital will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 p. m. at the Bream Funeral Home, Gasport. The Rev. R. J. Lieut. Commander Hilda COMBES, 55, who retired from duty with the United States Navy on December 1, 1947, died yesterday in the home of her brother, Leon WALTERS of Albion, where she came on Saturday to spend the Christmas holidays. She had been a patient in the Buffalo Veterans Hospital for several months.
Born May 18, 1895, at Eagle Harbor she attended Albion schools and was graduated from Albion High School. She studied nursing at the Belview School of Nursing in New York and was graduated from Battle Creek School of Nursing. She entered the navy as a nurse on July 31, 1929. Commander COMBES was aboard the Hospital Ship Solace in Pearl Harbor when the Japanese sprung their surprise attack in 1941. Made chief nurse in 1942 she was advanced to lieutenant commander in 1946.
Surviving are four brothers, Leon E. WALTERS of Albion, R. Louis WALTERS of Medina, Earl C. WALTERS of Eagle Harbor, and F. F. Clayton WALTERS of Buffalo, and two nieces, Mrs. Leighton JOHNSTON of Albion and Miss Joan WALTERS of Buffalo.
Funeral services will be held at the Merrill Funeral Home at 2 p.m. on Thursday. The Rev. Francis Browne, rector of Christ Episcopal Church will officiate and burial will be in Mt. Albion Cemetery.

The death of Mrs. Ellen GIBBON, widow of the late John COMERFORD, occurred at the family home, Prospect avenue at 8:15 Wednesday evening, after a short illness of pneumonia. Mrs. Comerford was a woman of pleasing personality, and will be greatly missed by her family, neighbors and friends. She was a devout member of St. Mary’s Church and a member of the L.C.B.A.
She is survived by six children, William H. of Buffalo; Leo of Salamanca; Mrs. Augustus MEYERS of Niagara Falls; Mrs. Henry McELWEE, John M., and Winifred, all of Medina and one sister, Mrs. Mary LORBACK of Brockport.

Mrs. Edna (HAWK) COMPTON, of Ridge Road, died suddenly early this morning in her home one-half mile west of Ridgeway Corners. Born in Davenport, Iowa, Mrs. HETZEL moved into this area 27 years ago.
She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Thekla HETZEL, of Los Angeles, Calif.; one brother, John, of Davenport, and several nieces and nephews.
The body is to be shipped to Davenport for burial in the family plot there.

Seymour COMPTON, 63, former Medinan, died at his home in St. Petersburg, Fla. Saturday morning. He had lived on Roseland Ave. in Medina and moved his home to Florida two years ago. He had been employed by Niagara-Mohawk Power Corp. for 30 years. He had retired due to poor health. Mr. COMPTON was a member of Medina Lodge of Masons.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Cora (WILMARTH) COMPTON, in St. Petersburg; one son, John of Medina; one sister, Mrs. Darwin POLER of Medina; one grandson and one granddaughter; also several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Barnes-Tuttle Funeral Home, 226 Pearl St., after 2 p.m. Wednesday. Services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Alfred SCIPIONE officiating. Burial will be in Boxwood Cemetery.

William S. COMPTON, fifty-eight years old, living one and one-half miles southwest of Middleport, in the town of Shelby, was struck by A New York Central eastbound train at the Middleport street crossing at 7:30 o’clock Monday night and instantly killed. He was driving a horse and the buggy was squarely on the track when struck. The driver was hurled against the iron casing of the crossing gate and his skull was crushed. The horse escaped injury. Mr. COMPTON is survived by his widow (Sarah ALLEN) and two grown-up children.

Funeral services for Mrs. Emma A. CONDON, 67, wife of John CONDON, and for many years a resident of Medina, will take place tomorrow morning at 9 o’clock from St. Mary’s Church. The Rev. William SUTHERLAND will officiate.
Mrs. CONDON’s death occurred about 8:45 Saturday morning at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester. She had been ill five weeks. Born in Troy, Mrs. CONDON lived in Medina a large part of her life. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church, of the Catholic Daughters and of the Royal Neighbors. For more than eight years she was in charge of the teachers' cottage at Industry.
Surviving Mrs. CONDON, besides her husband are one son, John Jr., of Albany; two daughters, Mrs. Joseph W. CAVAGNARO, Medina; and Mrs. William S. Mrs. John CONDON died Monday night at her home on Eagle Street after a long illness. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church. Besides her husband, she is survived by one brother, William WATERSTRAUGH of Tonawanda and one sister, Minnie, of California. Funeral services were held Thursday morning at St. Mary’s Church. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

The death of William J. CONDON, 66, a native of Ireland, but for the past 42 years a resident of Medina, occurred Monday afternoon in Meyer Memorial Hospital, Buffalo, where he had been a patient for the past six weeks.
Born in Tipperary, Ireland, April 16, 1884, he came to the United States when he was 22 years of age and has resided in Medina since that time. He was a member of Holy Name Society of St. Mary's parish.
Surviving are his widow, Elizabeth; five daughters, Miss Anne CONDON and Miss Teresa CONDON, at home; Mrs. Ronald SLACK of Medina; Mrs. Arthur FITZGERALD, Boston, Mass., and Mrs. Horace BITNER of Chuckey, Tenn., and 11 grandchildren.
The body is resting at his late home, 410 Meade Avenue. Funeral arrangements have not been completed.
Funeral services for the late William J. Condon, whose death occurred in Meyer Memorial Hospital, Buffalo, on Monday following a six weeks illness, will be held in St. Mary's Church Friday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Ira W. CONGDON, one of Middleport’s oldest and most highly esteemed citizens, died yesterday afternoon at 5 o’clock at his late home on Williams street from pneumonia. He had been confined to the house for many months preceding his death with rheumatism. Mr. CONGDON was 81 years old. He was the youngest of the two sons of Ira and Esther CONGDON, who came from Vermont in 1818, and settled near the junction of the county line and Ridge roads. A year after Mr. CONGDON’s birth his father was killed by a limb falling from a tree. The widow and two children then returned to Vermont. Seven years later, in 1827, she returned with her father and the two boys and they settled on a farm two miles west of the village, a portion of which Mr. Congdon owned at the time of his death. In 1850 Mr. CONGDON caught the gold fever and went to California via Cape Horn. He returned a little more than a year later and settled on the before mentioned farm, where he lived until a few years ago, retiring at that time and buying the residence on Williams street in Middleport. In 1854, Mr. Congdon was united in marriage to (Mrs.) Livonia SMITH. One son was born to them, Dr. Charles CONGDON of Buffalo, who has risen to prominence in the medical profession.
Mr. CONGDON was a life-long attendant at the Universalist church, joined the church in 1854, and was for a long time a trustee of the church and was one of its deacons at the time of his death. He is survived by his widow and son, Dr. Charles CONGDON, and two grandchildren. By his friends his loss will be felt almost as keenly as by the immediate relatives. His life was exemplary to all in temperance, frugality and uprightness.

John CONGDON, for many years a a resident of Shelby, died at his home Tuesday evening, aged 74 years. Mr. CONGDON was a veteran of the Civil War. He is survived by his widow (Kate BROOKINS), one son, Chester CONGDON, and two daughters, Mrs. Flora SWIFT, of Buffalo, and Mrs. Francis PICKETT, of Shelby. The funeral services will be held from his late home Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. E. D. Chapman will officiate. The burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, West Shelby.

William CONGER, formerly of Yates died at his late home at Niagara Falls Friday night of pneumonia, aged 55 years. He is survived by his wife and three children, one son and two daughters.'The funeral services were held Monday at his late home at the falls, following which the remains, accompanied by the family and company of Odd Fellows, were brought to Lyndonville for burial.

Mrs. Ann Connelly (CONLEY) wife of Edward Connelly, died at her home in Shelby yesterday morning. A great deal of sympathy is manifest for the family as this is the second death occurring in the household within a week. A daughter died but a few days since, and hardly had the solemn procession passed from the door bearing her remains when the mother was called to her home above. Funeral services will be held at St. Mary's church, tomorrow.

Edward CONLEY died at Buffalo, Saturday, December 15th, after a brief illness. His remains were brought to Medina Sunday evening and taken to his late home, 133 North street. He is survived by his wife (Mary), two daughters, Mrs. Raymond McDONALD and Miss Anna CONLEY, also one grandson. Two brothers, Charles J. CONLEY, of Somerville, N. J., and Thomas E. CONLEY, of this place. Three sisters, Mrs. William MAINE, of American Falls, Idaho, Mrs. John BUTLER, of Albion, N. Y., and Mrs. Frank METZ, of this place. Funeral was held Tuesday morning from St. Mary’s Church, Father Martin officiating. The body was placed in the vault at Boxwood cemetary.

James H. CONLEY died at the family home on South Academy street last evening about 11 o'clock. Mr. CONLEY had been in failing health for a number of years. For a number of years the deceased conducted a grocery, now operated by W. A. Franchell. Mr. CONLEY is survived by his widow, two sons, Francis and Robert, one brother, George CONLEY and a sister, Miss Lizzie CONLEY. No funeral arrangements have as yet been made.
The funeral of James H. CONLEY, who died at his home, South Academy street, Wednesday night of last week, was held in St. Mary’s church Saturday morning and was very largely attended. Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery. The bearers were James Tuohey, David A. White, Arthur Soucie, Daniel Horan, Francis O’Donnell and Joseph Fay. The floral offerings and mass cards were numerous.

Lyndonville - A sudden death occurred at the residence of George Newman, this village, on Saturday. John CONLEY, of Somerset, who was the guest of Mr. Newman, sat back from the supper table, saying, "Thank God for one more good meal," and immediately expired. Cause of death apoplexy of the heart. He leaves a wife and several children.

Lyndonville - LeRoy CONLEY, 52, proprietor of the Conley Hotel, died very suddenly last evening at 10 o'clock of a heart atack, at his home. He had been in good health, and his death came most unexpectedly.
Mr. CONLEY was born in Gaines on January 9, 1889. His parents were Charles and Alice CONLEY, who both died within the past fice years. The CONLEY fanily moved to Lyndonville when the children were small, and engaged in the hotel business. At the death of his father, LeRoy CONLEY took over the operation of the CONLEY Hotel. He was a member of the Conservstion Club.
Surviving are his wife, Kathryn ASHBY CONLEY; two brothers, Frank and Charles CONLEY; and several nieces and nephew, all of Lyndonville. The funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 from the Hotel, with the Rev. H. A. Depfer, pastor of the Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in Lynhaven Cemetery.

Thomas E CONLEY, a former resident of Medina, died Saturady at the home of his son, W.D. CONLEY, 134 Burilington Avenue, Rochester and was buried in St. Mary’s Cemetery here today, after services at the home and in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Rochester.
He is survived by his son; three grandchildren, William D., Rita K. and Margaret Mary CONLEY; a sister, Mrs. John BUTLER of Albion and several cousins and nieces and nephews in Medina.

Daniel CONNELLY died at his home in the town of Ridgeway, on Thursday last, aged fifty-eight years. The funeral services at St. Mary’s church on Saturday were attended by representatives of the Hayes Post, G. A. R., of Somerset, of which deceased was a charter member. They brought a floral tribute and presented resolutions of respect and condolence adopted by the Post.

Albion - Funeral services will be held here Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at the Grinnell Funeral Home for Miss Anna CONOVER, long-time resident of Carlton and Yates, who died March 25 in Bradenton, Fla. Services for Miss CONOVER were scheduled for May 22, but have been advanced two days. The deceased, who resided with her brother, Milton CONOVER, was an active member of the W.C.T.U., serving as county president for 11 years.

Mrs. Nellie CONRAD, 54, died sometime during the early morning hours today from drowning in Glenwood Lake into which she had fallen while walking in her sleep. Mrs. CONRAD was missed from her home shortly after two o’clock this morning. Unable to locate her, her family learned that she had fallen into the lake and the Medina Fire Department Rescue Squad was called and after a several hour search her body was located at 10:30 this morning. She was taken to Cleary Funeral Home, Park Avenue, where the body is resting. Mrs. CONRAD had been in ill health for several years.
She is survived by one son, Cpl. Charles CONRAD of Hoff General Hospital, Santa Barbara, California, her mother, Mrs. Susan (Charles) YOULES of Medina and three brothers, Harry of Syracuse, William of Pittsburgh, Pa. and James of Medina. Funeral arrangements have not been completed.

Emma M., daughter ot Hiram and Caroline MURDOCK, was born in Ridgeway, Orleans county, New York, March 11, 1841, and died at her home in Bellevue Friday, April 24, aged 62 years, 1 month, 14 days. She was married to C. C. COOK, October 22, 1879. Immediately after their marriage they came to Bellevue which has since been their home, and with the exception of one year they have lived at the home on West Main street, where she died.
Besides the bereaved husband she leaves but one sister, Mrs. John M. SHERWOOD, of Medina, N. Y., who has been here for days past as has been her neice, Mrs. W. W. SMITH, of Rochester, N. Y.
The funeral will take place from the family home Sunday afternoon at half past two o’clock, services being conducted by Rev. W. H. Mitchell, of Chicago. The remains will be placed in the Bellevue cemetery and the burial will be at the convenience of the family. - Bellevue (0.,) Evening Gazette.

Mrs. Fanny Almeda COOK, widow of Orson T. COOK, passed away at her home on South Main Street early Sunday morning, October 17, 1937, following an attack of heart trouble from which she had been suffering for several years. Mrs. COOK was born at Pavilion on March 31, 1861, a daughter of Marvin and Elizabeth COON COE. In 1881 she was married to Mr. COOK, who died in 1919. Surviving Mrs. COOK are two sons, Howard E. COOK of Rochester and Glenn Otis COOK of Clarendon; two daughters, Mrs. Bertha EULER and Miss Grace COOK, both of Holley, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She also leaves two stepdaughters, Mrs. Charles W. SMITH of Holley and Mrs. Ernest CHILDS of Florida. Funeral services were held from her late home Tuesday afternoon, Rev. John H. Sandmeyer and Rev. Lee W. Vaughn officiating, and interment was made in Hillside Cemetery, where services were conducted by Charity Rebekah Lodge.

RIDGEWAY - Last Saturday the sad news was received of the death of Mrs. George C. COOK, who, about three weeks ago, in company with her husband started for Minnesota, in good health, to visit their son. While there she was taken with typhoid pneumonia and in spite of careful and untiring attention of husband and children, she is called to that higher and better world where her hope and belief in a future life always gave her so much comfort. She has been identified with the Universalist Society of this place for a great many years. The announcement of her death is received with sorrow and to her bereaved family sincere sympathy is extended. Her remains are expected on Thursday and the funeral will probably be held Friday.

The body of the late Seelye A. COOK arrived here on the four o’clock train this afternoon. Arrangements have been perfected to hold the funeral services at the residence on West Center street on Friday afternoon at two thirty, Rev. Parkhurst, of Niagara Falls, and Rev. Harris, of this place, officiating. The services will be simple, and the following will act as bearers: D. A. Acer, Grover L. Tinkham, John Crowley, George A. Newell, Fred L. Downs and Graham H. Hill. Interment will be at Boxwood Cemetery.
The funeral services of the late Seelye A. COOK were held from the family residence on West Center Street yesterday afternoon, and were largely attended by the many friends and relatives of the deceased. A large number of people from out of town, both business and personal acquaintances, were present to pay their last respects to the memory of one of Medina’s foremost citizen’s.
The eulogy was pronounced by the Rev. F. S. Parkhurst, of Niagara Falls, who spoke most eloquently of the deceased, paying a high tribute to his sterling worth as a citizen, his ability in business and the respect and esteem in which he was held as a neighbor and a friend. Prayer was offered by Rev. Mr. Harris, of the Methodist church and interment was at Boxwood Cemetery.
The bearers were George A. Newell, Graham H. Hill, Grover L. Tinkham and John Crowley. Out of respect for the deceased, the business places of the village were closed during the hour of the funeral services, and most of Medina’s business people attended.

Two Soldiers Buried With Military Honors. The bodies of Albert E. COON and Frederic Hellert arrived in Medina from Hoboken Monday night. They were taken to the Armory where a military funeral was held. Revs. J. J. Allen and C. Poeckler officiated. Mr. Allen delivered a very eloquent and patriotic eulogy. The body of Hellert was taken to the German-Lutheran church for further services, after which both were taken, accompanied by military escort and firing squad, to the West Ridgeway Cemetery for interment. Both caskets were draped with the National colors and there were many floral tributes.
Private COON enlisted an a member of Company F. on June 17, 1917, and left for overseas service on May 17, 1918. He was wounded during the drive of the Hindenberg line on September 29, 1918, and died on October 3.
Private Hellert enlisted in Company F. on April 2, 1917, and departed overseas service on May 17, 1918. He was killed in action September 29, 1918.

The death of the two year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond COON of Shelby Center occurred at the Medina Hospital last Thursday afternoon from burns received about an hour and a half before when the house caught on fire from an overheated stove. A four year old daughter was also severely burned. The mother had left the children alone in the house while she went on an errand. The house was badly damaged but was saved by neighbors. The funeral was held Friday.

The death of David COON, 73 years old, a resident of the town of Carlton, residing near Lakeside Park, occurred at his farm home, February 27th. He was born in the town of Yates and was a lifelong resident of Orleans county. Mr. COON was a member of Renovation Lodge, F. and A. M., of Albion. Mr. COON leaves his wife, Mrs. Mary COON; three sisters, Mrs. Vesta BULLOCK, of Lockport, Mrs. Alice BULLOCK, of Holley; Mrs. Cynthia CONOVER, of Lyndonville, and one brother, George L. COON, of Lyndonville. The funeral occurred at the home Thursday afternoon, Rev. H. Stacey, of Waterport, officiating. Burial was in Carlton Cemetery.

Mrs. Esther Levis COON, widow of the late Wilbur COON, died at her home in Rochester Wednesday evening, April 4, 1928. She is survived by one son, Wilbur L. COON; one daughter, Esther Jeanette COON; four sisters, Mrs. Raymond USHER, Mrs. Dorothy KENNEDY, and Mrs. Henry NEUN, all of Rochester, and Mrs. Herman LANG of Detroit.

The sudden and unexpected death of Mrs. Uri G. COON, a well known and highly esteemed resident of this village, occurred at 10:30 last evening at her home on Park avenue. Deceased, whose age was 78 years, had not been feeling well for the past few days, owing to a slight attack of grippe, but had been about the house as usual yesterday. She was taken suddenly ill about nine o 'clock last evening and the family physician was summoned but she failed to respond to medical treatment and died in less than two hours after the doctor arrived.
Deceased is survived by her husband and three children, Mrs. Fred GORDON, of Chicago, Ill., Mrs. W. T. SCOFIELD, of Burlington, Vt., and one son, Daniel COON, of this place; also one sister, Mrs. John KENYON, of Middleport. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
The funeral of the late Mrs. Lucia S. COON will be held Thursday afternoon at two o’clock at her late home, the Rev. M. E. Van Nostrand, of the Baptist church, will officiate. Interment at Boxwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Rhea Violetta COON, 32, wife of Sheldon COON, 113 South Avenue, died Friday night at the Bishop Nursing Home, West Center Street, after a lingering illness. Born in Medina, she had lived here her entire lifetime. Mrs. Coon was a member of the Methodist Church, and a member of the Auxiliary of Lincoln Post Veterans of Foreign Wars. Her brother, Pfc. Wesley GRAY, was killed in action on Negros Island in the Pacific Area, on April 24, 1945.
Besides her husband, she is survived by four children, Roger, Douglas, Carol and Robert, all at home; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George GRAY of South Ave.; and one sister, Mildred GRAY.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock from her late home, 113 South Avenue, with the Rev. Webb Ayres officiating. Burial will be in North Shelby Cemetery.

Last Monday morning the report was circulated around that Miss Sarah COON who resides near West Shelby, had committed suicide by hanging. Upon inquiry the report proved true, eliciting the following facts. Miss COON has for some time shown symptoms of being somewhat deranged, and had also threatened to make way with herself. Under these circumstances a close watch was kept upon her until Sunday night, when, while her friends were asleep, they supposing she was resting peacefully from her quiet manner, she arose from her bed took a light with her, also a rope from the well and then went to the barn where the deed was done. The rope, which was a short one, was placed through a strap hanging from a beam, and when found which was shortly after the act was done, one of her limbs was resting on a barrel, which she had undoubtedly intended to push our from under her, while the toe of the other foot was just touching the floor. No cause is assigned for the rash act only the demented state of her mind.
We regret to learn of the death by suicide of a Miss COON, of Shelby, a sister of Mrs. Wesley (Helen) WOOD, of this town.

Wilbur B. COON died Tuesday, July 13, 1926, at his home at Harwood Farms, East Rochester, aged 57 years. Mr. COON was born in the town of Yates and attended the Middleport high school. He had been engaged in the manufacture of shoes for thirty-six years, operating two factories in Rochester. At the time of his death he was doing a business of $3,500,000 a year and over 6,000 retail dealers were selling his shoes.
Mr. COON and family left Rochester last February on a trip through the Mediterranean and into Africa, returning the latter part of April. Tbe trip was undertaken by Mr. Coon on the advice of his physician. About four weeks ago he became ill with low blood pressure and for a week before his death he was unconscious. Mr. Coon was a member of Yonnondio Lodge, F. & A. M.; Hamilton Chapter, Monroe Commandery, K. T.; the Shrine, the Rochester Club, the Chamber of Commerce and the Rochester Boot and Shoe Manufacturer’s association.
A wife, one son and one daughter, also relatives in Yates and Middleport, survive.

Mrs. Amy STOWELL COOPER, 71, of Medina, died Saturday night in Medina Memorial hospital, where she had been a patient since. Feb. 20. Born in Lyndonville, May 2, 1876, she was the daughter of the late Edmond D. and Cynthia HARRIS STOWELL.
Surviving are two sons, Donald COOPER of Wilmington, Del., and Hartwell COOPER of Buffalo; and two brothers, Colonel and Perry STOWELL of Kenyonville. Private funeral services were held from her late home, 314 Pearl st., Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Reginald Cory of the Methodist church, Medina, officiated and burial was in Kenyonville Cemetery.

Mrs. Annie GRANT COOPER, widow of Robert COOPER, Sr. passed away at her home at 1007 West Avenue, Medina, this morning, aged eighty-six years.
She leaves surviving her children: Dr. W. Grant COOPER, Ogdensburg, Mrs. Ida May STOWELL, Kenyonville, Harry COOPER, Mrs. Mabel HISE, Medina, Robert COOPER, Middleport, Miss R. Belle COOPER, Medina, Mrs. Janet THOMPSON, Lynbrook, L. I., Dr. David G. COOPER, Albion and Mrs. Pearl TOWSEY, Kenyonville.
Mrs. COOPER was born at Ontario, Canada, on November 3, 1846, daughter of Robert GRANT and Ann GLASGOW GRANT. She came to Orleans County when sixteen years of age and has ever since resided here, living near Kenyonville, New York for about sixty years, and having lived in Medina, New York for the last twelve years of her life.
The funeral services will be held at her home on Thursday afternoon at two o'clock. Burial will be at Mt. Albion.
Mrs. Mabel (Annie) GRANT COOPER was laid to rest yesterday afternoon at Mt. Albion Cemetery following a funeral attended by a large number of friends and relatives at her home on West avenue. Rev. Clifford A. Scrimshaw officiated at the services of the beloved resident of Medina who died Tuesday morning at the age of 86. The pall bearers were Donald COOPER, Hartwell COOPER, Kenneth COOPER and Robert TOWSEY, grandsons of the deceased.

Albion - Mrs. Clarissa H. COOPER, 90, died unexpectedly in her home at 105 McClellan St. Sunday (Oct. 2, 1949). Born in the Town of Shelby on Feb. 15, 1859, she lived in Barre Center for more than 40 years and in Orleans County her entire life. She was a member of the Barre Center Presbyterian Church. Friends may call at the Grinnell Funeral Home at 230 S. Main St., Albion, where services will be held at 2 p. m. tomorrow, with burial in Mt. Albion Cemetery.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Clarence STACEY; a grandson, Leo G. ENGLE; two great-grandchildren, Mrs. Robert BABBITT and L. Gregory ENGLE, all of Albion, and a sister; Mrs. George SANDERS of Lajolla, Calif.

LYNDONVILLE - David S. COOPER, 44, died at the Adelaide Poler Nursing Home, Medina, this morning, where he had been a patient for the past two weeks. He had been ill for about two and one-half months.
He was born in Lyndonville, Feb. 13, 1911, the son of Eva STROYAN and Fred COOPER. Except for a few years, he had spent most of his lifetime here, where he was engaged in farming. Mr. COOPER was married to Marjorie ROGERS, Brockport, April 18, 1936. He was a member of Lyndonville Presbyterian Church and the adult fellowship group of that church. He was a member of the Lyndonville Fire Dept. He had been a former member of the Albion Elks Club.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Margo; his father, Fred COOPER of Medina; his mother, Mrs. Eva BAYNE of Hastings, Mich., one brother, LaVerne COOPER of Scottville, Mich.; a half-sister, Mrs. Ruth PALMER of Middleville, Mich. Also several aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted at the Smythe Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Wednesday by the Rev. Richard Billingsley. Burial will be in Lynhaven Cemetery.

Funeral services for Mrs. Elbertha W. COOPER, 55, wife of Fred W. COOPER, who died suddenly in Lockport Tuesday evening having been stricken with a heart attack while returning from church were held at her home in that city this afternoon. Rev. Paul Morrison officiated and burial was made in Millville Cemetery.
Born in Alabama Center, Mrs. Cooper had lived in Lockport for the past 20 years. She was a member of Emmanual church and the Women’s association, the Wesley class and the King's Daughters of that church. She was also a member of Lockport Rebekah lodge, 29O, I. O. 0. F. and the Rebekah Orphanage association.
Besides her husband, she leaves two sons and one daughter, Harold and Victor COOPER, Lockport, and Mrs. Edward SINGER, Wilson; - four grandchildren, three sisters and one brother, Mrs. John EICK, La Peer, Mich.; Mrs. Charles RUBBERT, Flint, Mich.; Mrs. Percy OSBOURN, Medina, and William HAWK, Hadley, Mich.

Lyndonville - Mrs. Flora E. COOPER, 88, widow of George H. COOPER, died yesterday afternoon in the Medina Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient for one week. Although Mrs. COOPER had remained active and interested in all about her, she had been in failing health for the past three months.
Born in the Town of Somerset, Niagara County, July 19, 1859, she was the daughter of the late William and Helen BULLEN BOWEN. On May 11, 1881, she was married to George H. COOPER, and resided in the Town of Yates her entire married life. Mr. COOPER died May 26, 1943. Mrs. Cooper was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Lyndonville, and also a member of the Worthwhile Class. She was active and interested in church affairs.
Surviving are two sons, Fred and George COOPER, both of Lyndonville; one daughter, Mrs. Harry N. WELCH of Upland, Calif; two sisters, Mrs. Ward SMITH of Barker, and Mrs. Della MUDGE of Lakewood, N.Y.; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; also numerous nieces and nephews. One grandson, Harry COOPER, was killed in action in September 1944 during World War II.
Funeral services will be held from the Smythe Funeral Home, on Sunday, February 1, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Thomas Tighe of the Presbyterian Church officiating. The grandsons will act as bearers, and interment will be in Lynhaven Cemetery.

Robert COOPER, Sr., died February 7th at his home, corner of West Center and Prospect streets in Medina, after a short illness of pneumonia, aged 81 years. He is survived by his wife, Annie GRANT COOPER, and the following children; W. Grant COOPER, M. D., of Ogdensburg, N. Y., Mrs. May STOWELL and Mrs. R. W. TOUSEY of Kenyonville, N. Y., Mrs. A. B. HISE, Miss R. Belle COOPER, Robert COOPER and Harry COOPER of Medina, David G. COOPER, M. D., of Albion, and Mrs. Ralph B. THOMPSON of Lynbrook, N. Y.
Mr. COOPER was born near Norwich, England, in 1841, and came to the County of Orleans with his parents, in 1856, and for a great many years lived near Kenyonville, N. Y., where he was an enterprising and successful farmer and fruit grower. About two years ago he moved to Medina. He was widely known and much respected for his rugged honesty and his habits of industry and thrift. For a great many years he was a member of the Free Methodist Church. The funeral services will be held at his late home on Friday of this week at 2 p. m. Burial at Mt. Albion Cemetery.

Author of Copeland's Clarendon Died at His Home in Washington.
The funeral of David S. COPELAND, a frequent contributor to The Union and Advertiser, who died on March 4th in Washington, D. C., was held last Saturday. Interment was made in Washington.
Mr. COPELAND, who was the author of Copeland's Clarendon, has resided in Washington for many years. He was a daily visitor at the Congressional Library, where he pursued his literary studies.
Deceased is survived by a sister, Mrs. J. I. BOSWELL of Ocean Grove, N. J., and six brothers, Rev. John A. COPELAND of Rochester, Rev. R. W. COPELAND of Clarence, N. Y., Rev. B. Copeland of Charlotte, Rev. Arthur COPELAND, chaplain of Auburn state prison, and G. Henry and S. Herbert COPELAND of Clarendon, N.Y.

Mrs. P.V. COPP Passed Away at Home Here on Friday Morning
Mrs. Peter V. COPP died at her home on Jones Street in this village shortly after 3 o'clock Friday morning, Sept. 25, after a long illness. She had been in failing health for six month duration. Heart trouble and dropsy was the cause of her death.
Mrs. COPP's maiden name was Eunice Amelia YATES, and she was born in Orleans County, N.Y., May 11, 1842, being therefore at the time of her death, 66 years four months and 14 days old. when a young girl she removed with her parents to Canada, and from there to Ypsilanti. At Ypsilanti she met and became acquainted with Peter V. COPP, and they were united in marriage in that city, June 17, 1859.
At the breaking out of the civil war Mr. COPP enlisted. When he came back from the war he and Mrs. COPP lived for a time at different places where he was engaged at this trade, blacksmithing. In 1866 they located at Highland Corners, were they lived for a number of years and where all their children but one were born. From Highland they moved to Milford, where they remained nine years. since then they have lived most of the time at clyde and Holly, coming here about five years ago.
Mrs. COPP was the mother of seven children, two of whom died in infancy. Those surviving are Charles, who lives in Ohio, Louisa, wife of George Jackson, of Plymouth, Nellie, wife of Thos. THOMPSON, of Minneapolis, and John W. and George F. of Holly.
The deceased was a woman of many excellent traits of character, conspicuous among which was her love of home and family. she had many warm friends who will deeply grieve for her departure and long cherish her memory in their hearts.
The funeral services were held at the house on Sunday at 1:30, conducted by Rev. Dr. J.B. Warren. Inerment was in the cemetery at Highland Station, where many of her old friends and former neighbors gathered to pay their last respects.

The death of Mrs. Carmella COPPA, wife of Joseph COPPA, 491 East Center Street, occurred yesterday morning at the Medina Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient since April 3. Born Oct. 20, 1884, in Italy, Mrs. COPPA had been a resident of Medina for over thirty-five years. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church.
Besides her husband she is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Mary YOUNG, Mrs. Margaret LIVINGSTON and Christine, Gelsomina, and Stella COPPA, all of Medina; one son, Andrew COPPA of Medina; two grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Frances LOIACANO, and Miss Consetta PALMISANO, both of Rochester; and one brother, Dominic PALMISANO of Elmira.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday morning at 8:30 o’clock from the O'Reilly Funeral Home, East Center Street, and at 9 o’clock at St. Mary's Church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

The death of Miss Victoria Teresa COPPA, 25, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph COPPA, 491 East Center street, occurred Saturday afternoon in the Mt. Morris Sanatorium, where she had been a patient for the past five years.
Born August 15, 1917, in Medina, Miss COPPA was graduated from St. Mary’s School, and for a number of years was employed at Bickle’s. She played the trumpet in her father’s orchestra, which he organized under the name of Coppa's Band and Orchestra, composed of members of his family. The band and orchestra played at various affairs in this vicinity for several years. Miss COPPA was home from the hospital three weeks ago for the weekend.

Anson COREY, whose death occured yesterday morning in Veterans Hospital, Buffalo, at the age of 64, was born in Shelby August 11, 1891, the son of the late Archie and Mattie BENSON COREY. He had resided in Medina for almost all his lifetime and since 1944 had been employed by the New York State Department of Public Works as a marine engineer. He was a member of the B.P.O.E. and a veteran of World War I.
He is survived by several cousins. Funeral services will be held from the Barnes-Tuttle Funeral Home, 226 Pearl Street, Thursday morning at 10:30. The Rev. Canon John E. WILKINSON of St. John’s Episcopal Church will officiate and burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, West Shelby.

The death of Mrs. Lemuel (?) COREY occurred at her home in Shelby on Sunday, Dec. 15th, at the age of sixty-two years. Mrs. COREY had been a great sufferer for nearly two years and all that human skill could do to stay her disease had been done, and only her wonderful vitality kept her alive during the last three months of her sickness. She bore her long sickness with great patience and the closing weeks were marked with wonderful submissiveness to the will of her Heavenly Father. Mrs. COREY was a very bright, active woman and was well known for her business ability through which she made a host of friends in Orleans County. The funeral service, which was conducted by Rev. Fred M. Clay and held in the Baptist Church, was attended by a large company of people. Mrs. COREY is survived by her husband and son Archie, who have the sympathy of the entire community in their sad affliction.

Albion, Oct. 1 - The body of Ronald F. COREY, of the Radio Division of the United States Army Signal corps, whose death occurred in Fort Hamilton, N. Y., Sept. 28, following an attack of Spanish influenza and pneumonia of a week’s duration, arrived in Albion last Sunday, in charge of Sergeant Ahrom. A prayer service was held at the family home, No. 17 West Academy street, Tuesday forenoon at 10 o’clock, Rev. W. A. Harris of the Methodist church officiating. The body was taken to the home of his parents in Attica, N. Y., where a Masonic service was held in the afternoon at 2 o’clock. A squad of state guardsmen conducted the military honors at the grave in Attica cemetery.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 p. m. in her late home at East Shelby for Mrs. Mary CORFF, 75, whose death occurred Monday afternoon following a long illness. The deceased was born in North Oakfield but has been a resident of the East Shelby area the greater part of her life.

The death of Mrs. Mary E. CORNELL occurred at her home on South Main street on Saturday last, after a long illness, in the sixty-second year of her age. Deceased moved to Medina some years since from Morrisville, N.Y. She is survived by two sons - Arthur N., of Niagara Falls, and Charles H., of this place - and three sisters. The funeral was conducted by Rev. Henry F. Ellinwood Monday afternoon. The interment was at Morrisville.

Bertie CORNWELL, a Hulberton boy who accidentally drank some concentrated lye three or four years ago, died in the Buffalo hospital last week. His stomach was injured by the liquid and an operation to give relief terminated fatally.

The death of James J. COURTNEY, a former resident of Medina, occurred today in the Veterans’ Hospital, Buffalo. Mr. COURTNEY was 56 years old and was born in Buffalo.
He was the husband of the late Marion MEICHT COURTNEY, and is survived by a brother, Edward N. COURTNEY, and two sisters, Frances A. BLACKBURN, and Mrs. Thomas J. WAYLAND. Funeral services will be held Monday morning from the Bury Funeral Home, Kenmore.

William COUSINS, of West Barre, aged 87 years, shot himself through the heart Monday morning with a double barreled shotgun. His grandson, Alexander COUSINS, and the latter's wife, who lived with him, the old gentleman's wife being dead, started for work shortly after 7 o'clock Monday morning, both being employed in one of the dry houses in that vicinity. It was their usual custom to leave their grandfather alone during the day, returning at noon for dinner. The young people returned at noon and found him dead in a chair. Nearby on the floor was his shotgun with one barrel empty. Coroner Sutton of Albion was notified Monday afternoon, and after examining the body granted a certificate of death from suicide. The suicide is said to have been despondent.

The death of Michael COVENEY, a well-known farmer, occurred this morning at his home, No. 86 West Avenue, Albion, aged 78 years. He had lived in Albion over fifty years. His death followed a long illness and was the result of hardening of the arteries.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Church, and he leaves his wife (Margaret) and four daughters, Mrs. Sophine CRULL, Mrs. James MAUSNER and Miss Louise COVENEY, all of Albion, and Miss Minnie COVENEY, of Rochester.
The funeral will be held from St. Joseph's Church Saturday forenoon at 9 o'clock, Rev. Father SULLIVAN officiating.

Richard COVENEY, a World War II veteran of 523 Church Street, was found dead in his bed this morning when his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth COVENEY, went to call him this morning at 7:30 o’clock. Coronor L. F. WATERS said death was the result of a heart condition, he having retired at approximately 8 p.m. last night, complaining of the heat. Funeral arrangcments are incomplete.
Funeral services for Richard COVENEY, 50, whose death occurred unexpectedly yesterday morning at his home, 523 Church Street, will be held Saturday morning at 10:30 am, from Thibault’s Funeral Home South Main Street, and at 11 o’clock at St. Mary’s Church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, where military services will be conducted at the grave by the James P. Clark Post, American Legion.

Albion - Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. today in a funeral home, 230 South Main street for Frank T. COVENTRY, restaurant and grocery store proprietor at Gaines, who died Monday evening. The Rev. Mark Shenton officiated at the services. Burial was in Mt. Albion Cemetery. Mr. COVENTRY was born in Michigan May 24, 1866. He operated a restaurant and grocery store in Gaines for the past 14 years and previous to that he had bakeries in Albion and Lockport.
Surviving are his widow, Mae, of Gaines, one brother, William, Gaines; two sisters, Mrs. Leon WRIGHT, Albion, and Mrs. Anna SHALTERS, Oswego; and several neices and nephews.

Mrs. Alice COX aged 67 years died Monday night at the home of her brother, George ARNOLD on North avenue. She is survived by two brothers, George, and Robert, of Medina, and one sister, Mrs. James WILKINS, of Holcomb.

George COX, Sr., an old resident of Medina, died at his home on Eagle street on Friday evening last aged eighty-two years. Deceased was born in Horning, Norfolk County, England, September 26, 1832, emigrating to this country in 1851. He resided at Yates Center for many years, where he was employed as a carriage wood worker, and where he was married in 1861 to Eva BISHOP whose death occurred about 1874. He is survived by two sons, George Jr., and Arthur and one daughter, Mrs. John CHAPMAN, of Knowlesville; a brother, Robert, of England, one nephew and niece, Henry Cox and Miss Addie Cox. The funeral was held Monday afternoon, Rev. W. A. Harris officiating. Interment in Boxwood Cemetery.

Albion - Funeral services are to be held at St. Joseph’s Church, 9 a. m. Monday for Miss Louise B. COXE, who died in the Arnold Gregory Memorial Hospital Wedneday, April 26, after having suffered a heart attack at her home a short while earlier.
She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church and its Rosary Society, and members of that group will conduct service at 8 p. m. Sunday at the family residence at 22 West Ave. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
She was the daughter of the late Charles and Nellie McCARTHY COXE and is survived by two sisters, the Misses Marion and Evangeline COXE, and a brother, George COXE, all of Albion.

Mrs.Susie DIBLEY COYLE, aged 28 years, died Thursday evening in Waterbury, Conn. She was born in Albion and lived there until four years ago. Funeral services were held from St. Mary's church, Medina, Monday morning at 9 o'clock.
