Millville: Seldom are we called upon to record so many deaths in so short a time as those of the past few days. First was Mrs. Almira L’HOMMEDIEU, wife of Henry L’HOMMEDIEU, which occurred on Thursday, March 22d, 1888, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Horace LINSLEY. Funeral services on Saturday, the 24th, at the house, conducted by the Rev. Mr. Schuyler. Deceased was 83 years of age and one of the oldest pioneers of Shelby, having with her husband resided in this town since early in the year of 1826. Her husband, who survives her, is nearly ninety years old, making for both of them a long life of usefulness with its usual share of joy and sorrow. Their married life dates from 1825, a period of more than sixty three years. In 1826 they came from Vermont and selected and purchased a home on what is now known as Maple Ridge, since which time they have lived in this town. It would be difficulty to enumerate their privations, their trials and anxieties in their pioneer life; but they were rewarded by having in their declining years a competency of this world’s goods and being blessed with a large circle of children and grand children and friends who mourn the loss of a loving mother and an earnest friend.

Wallace L'HOMMEDIEU, one of the most prominent men of this community, died suddenly early Tuesday evening in his home on Maple Ridge, southeast of Medina, from an attack of gastritis which resulted in heart failure.
Mr. L'HOMMEDIEU was born in Shelby, September 8, 1833, the son of Henry L'HOMMEDIEU, a pioneer resident of that town. He had lived in Shelby all his life and had been a farmer and fruit grower from early manhood. He was educated in the common schools and at the Genesee Wesleyan Seminary in Lima.
He became prominent in public life and held several offices, being assessor of Shelby from 1869 to 1876. He was elected supervisor of the town in the years '87, '88 and '89 and served as Member of Assembly from this county in 1890-91. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, of Medina; served for several years on its board of trustees and at the time of his death was a member of the Board of Sessions. He was also a member of Medina Lodge, No. 336, F. and A. M., the Maple Ridge Culture Club, and the Medina Grange of which organization he was chaplain.
Mr. L'HOMMEDIEU was married in 1862 to Miss Frances BERRY, of Holley, who died in 1895. In 1900 he married Miss Abbie FIELD, of Chicago. He leaves his wife; two sons, former Senator Irving L'HOMMEDIEU, of Medina, and A. Warren L'HOMMEDIEU, of Washington, D. C., and two daughters, Mrs. Harvey JUMP, of Sayre, Pa., and Miss Jessie L'HOMMEDIEU, of Medina.
The funeral will be held from the residence tomorrow (Friday) at two o'clock, p. m., Rev. Frank J. Milman officiating. The interment will be in Boxwood Cemetery.

Lyndonville - Mrs. Dorothy F. LACEY, 36, died Friday afternoon in Medina Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient for a week. She had been ill for many months. Born in the Town of Yates on May 15, 1917, she was the daughter of Fred and the late Edith BECKETT WILSON. She graduated from Lyndonville High School with the Class of 1938 and was a member of Lyndonville Methodist Church. In 1947 she married Floyd LACEY.
Surviving besides her husband and father are four sisters, Miss Edna WILSON of Buffalo, Mrs. Ira SKINNER of Lyndonville; Mrs. Fred DANIELS of Eagle Harbor; Mrs. Michael CARBONE of Rochester; five brothers, Claude, Donald and Harold WILSON of Lyndonville; Chester WILSON of Albion, and Stanley WILSON of Waterport; also several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in the Smythe Funeral Home, with the Rev. Raymond H. Draffin, Rochester, former pastor of the local Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was in Lynhaven Cemetery.

Lyndonville - Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2: 30 p. m. at the Smythe Funeral Home here for Ernest W. LACEY, 83, who died early yesterday at his home on Roosevelt Highway. Officiating at services will be the Rev. Raymond H. Draffin and burial will be in Lynhaven Cemetery. Lacey had been in poor health for about two years preceding his death yesterday.
He was born in Catfield, England, on June 30, 1867, son of James and Emily GRAVENER LACEY and came to the United States when a young man. He married Blanche H. COOPER in the Town of Ridgeway on February 17, 1890. The couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last February.
A farmer by trade, LACEY had lived in his present house for 55 years. Surviving are his wife; four sons, Walter and Earl of Lyndonville, Claude of Medina and Harold of Middleport; three brothers, Abiathia of Medina, Herbert of Lyndonville and Delbert of Tioga, Pa., two sisters, Mrs. Louis BARRY of Kenyonvile and Mrs. Henry SCHRADER of Millville, as well as eight grandchildren, five greatgrandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Died at his home east of Yates Center, on Friday, May 7, 1920, of hardening of the arteries, James LACEY, aged 83 years. Mr. LACEY was born April 18, 1837, at Brumstead, Norfolk, England, and came to this country in the year 1883. Surviving are a wife, Mrs. Emily LACEY; six daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth THAINE and Mrs. Eliza BANKER of Knowlesville, Mrs. Laura DODD of Charlotte, Mich., Mrs. Blanche BARRY of Kenyonville, Mrs. Rose SCHRADER of Shelby, and Mrs. Edward L WOOLSTON of Yates Center; six sons, J. T. LACEY of Kendall, George LACEY of Middleport, Ernest W. LACEY, Delbert LACEY and Herbert LACEY of Lyndonville, and Abiatha B. LACEY of Medina; also thirty-six grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. The funeral was held from the Lyndonville Methodist Church Sunday, May 9, Rev. George E. Morse officiating, and the burial was made in Lynhaven Cemetery.

Mrs. Sarah L. LACEY, 60, died on Monday morning, January 22, at her home on the Swett Road, after being in ill health since May 1960. She was born in Naples, N. Y., on May 21, 1901, the daughter of Conrad and Libbie BRIGGS SCHWINGLE. She was married to Arthur LACEY of Lyndonville in May 1929. They spent most of their married life in Lyndonville until moving to the Swett Road four years ago. She was a member of the Lyndonville Methodist Church.
Mrs. LACEY is survived by her husband; a son, Marine Cpl. Robert H. LACEY at Camp Lejeune, N. C.; two daughters, Mrs. Harrison BROWN of Medina, and Mrs. Harold DIX of Lyndonville; two brothers, Charles SCGWINGLE of Naples and Jesse SCHWINGLE of Canandaigua; and six grandchildren. The funeral was held at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon from the Smythe Funeral Home in Lyndonville, with the Rev. Chester C. Beebe of the Methodist Church officiating. Interment was in Lynhaven Cemetery. The many friends in Medina of Miss Maggie LAHEY were greatly shocked yesterday (7 Aug 1888) to learn of her death. Which took place at the home of her uncle in Middleport, after an illness of only four days. Miss LAHEY was 21 years old and graduated from the Medina academy with the class of 1887 of which she was one of the brightest members. She has since engaged in teaching with considerable success. Her death is the first either the class of 1887 or the Alumni Association, and resolutions of sympathy will be adopted by both organizations.
The funeral will take place from St. Mary's church tomorrow morning (9 Aug 1888) at 9 o'clock.

Michael LAHEY, a well known resident of Medina, died at his home on West Center street at four o clock yesterday after a long illness, aged 72 years. Mr. LAHEY had lived in Medina a great many years and was a highly esteemed citizen. He served during the Civil War and was a member of Hood Post, G. A. R. For many years he was employed by the Bignall Manufacturing Company and for some years had a canal appointment.
The surviving family consists of the widow (Katherine) and three sons, John and William, of this place, and Edward, of Middleport, and one sister, Mrs. James KEARNEY, of Santa Barbara, Cal. The funeral will take place from St. Mary's Church on Monday morning at nine o'clock and the burial will be in the family plot in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

LYNDONVILLE - Beverly A. LAKE, 80, of Cedarbush Drive, Canandaigua, N.Y. died Thursday, Jan. 9, 1997 at F.F. Thompson Hospital, Canandaigua, N.Y. after a short illness. Born Feb. 13, 1916 in Wellsville, N.Y. she was the daughter of the late John and Catherine (HOREK) WALTHER.
Mrs. LAKE grew up in Wellsville and graduated from Wellsville High School. She received a degree in teaching from the State University of New York at Albany, graduating in 1937. She first came to Lyndonville in the late 1930’s. She married James W. LAKE in 1942. Mrs. LAKE taught in the Lyndonville School System until her retirement in 1980. She and her husband moved to Canandaigua in 1987. Mrs. LAKE was a member of the D.A.R. and the Delta Alpha Gamma. She enjoyed knitting and was an avid crossword puzzle enthusiast.
Her husband, James W. LAKE died Nov. 11, 1989. She is survived by one son, James (Anne) LAKE of Canandaigua, N.Y.; sister, Mary Lou (Paul) CANESSA of Wellsville, N.Y.; several nieces and nephews. There are no prior calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, Jan. 13, 1997 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Lyndonville, N.Y. The Rev. Albert Bosack will officiate. Burial will be in Lynhaven Cemetery, Lyndonville. Funeral arrangements were completed through the Barnes-Tuttle Inc. Funeral Home, 112 North Main St., Lyndonville. Memorial gifts may be made in her name to either the Yates Community Library or St. Joseph’s Church, Lyndonville, N.Y.

Mrs. Grace LAKE, 64, died suddenly Monday morning in her home in Lyndonville. She had been in poor health since her husband, George LAKE, died a year ago as a result of a buzz saw accident. Surviving are two sons, Homer LAKE of Lyndonville, and John LAKE of New Paltz, NY; and four grandchildren. Burial services will be held this Thursday afternoon at 2:30 from her late home, with Rev. E. A. Belknap, pastor of the Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Lynhaven Cemetery.

Mrs. Ida E. LAKE, wife of Charles G. LAKE, died Tuesday morning at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. JACKSON, in Shelby. Deceased was twenty-seven years of age and had been ill with inflammatory rheumatism for ten months. Besides her husband she is survived by one son and two sisters.

CANANDAIGUA - James William LAKE, 71, of 3157 Cedarbush Dr., formerly of Lyndonville, died early Saturday morning in the F.S. Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua following a lengthy illness. He was born March 3, 1918 in Lyndonville, a son of the late William H. and Cora (FISK) LAKE. He lived in Lyndonville for 70 years, before retiring from farming and moving to Canandaigua. He was a member of the Medina Loyal Order of The Moose, the Wellsville Elks Lodge, the Lyndonville United Methodist Church, and was an exempt member of the Lyndonville Volunteer Fire Co. Survivors include his wife, Beverly (WALTHER) LAKE, who he married in 1942; one son, James (Anne) LAKE of Canandaigua and several cousins, nieces and nephews. There will be no prior visitation. Private graveside services were held today in Millville Cemetery, Lyndonville. Memorial gifts may be made to the Canandaigua Emergency Squad, N. Pearl Street, Canandaigua, N.Y. 14424. Arrangements were made through Barnes-Tuttle Inc. Funeral Home, 112 N. Main St., Lyndonville.

At five o'clock yesterday afternoon occurred the death of John H. LAKE, at his home, three miles northeast of this village.
The deceased had not been feeling any too well for the past two or three months, and when on a visit to his daughter at Remsen, New York, in December suffered a slight shock of paralysis. He rallied rapidly and came home within a few days. Since that time he had busied himself with his usual vocations, and, although not as strong as usual, had not been seriously afflicted. Yesterday he was at Medina and returning home late in the afternoon put out his horse and a few minutes later was found in the summer kitchen unconscious. Medical aid was summoned immediately, but Mr. LAKE passed away before the doctor arrived.
The deceased was sixty-eight years of age, a man of sterling qualities, of unimpeachable character and popular and respected by the entire community. He made a most enviable record as a soldier in the Civil War, and since his discharge at the close of the war had been an active member of the Hood Post of this village, and for a time was Commander of that organization. He enlisted as a member of the 151st Regiment of New York Volunteers, and his military record was one of achievements of which any soldier might be proud. He served under Col. Hezekiah Bowen, Lt. Col. Irving M. Bowen and Lt. Charles H. Bogardus. In civil life, he took a more than ordinary interest in public affairs, and for a time was highway commissioner of the town of Ridgeway. He was a staunch republican, a good citizen, an excellent neighbor and a kind and indulgent parent.
He is survived by his widow (Annie E. THORN), three daughters, Mrs. Benjamin LOADES, and Mrs. Louis UNDERDOWN, of Ridgeway, and Mrs. Louis DAVIS, of Remsen; one son, Gilbert LAKE, of this place; two sisters, Mrs. Elias RICHARDS, of Yates, and Mrs. Marian JOY, of Lyndonville; and two brothers, James LAKE, of Lyndonville, and George LAKE, of Ovid, Michigan.
The funeral will be held from the residence on Monday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock and the Hood Post G. A. R. will have charge of the services. Interment will be at the West Ridgeway Cemetery.

The death of Robert Basil LaMACHIA Jr., one and one-half year old son of Tech. Sergt. and Mrs. Robert B. LaMACHIA, occurred suddenly this morning at the home of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Philip LaMACHIA, Horan Road. Sergeant and Mrs. LaMACHIA and son arrived Saturday from Camp Pickett, Va. to spend a furlough with their parents.
Besides his parents, the child is survived by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. LaMACHIA, and Mr. and Mrs. Henry WHITE, of Medina. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:00 o’clock from the Cleary Funeral Home, with burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

At the home of her daughter, Mrs. James T. STOKES, of Pearl street, Friday afternoon, June 7th 1907, occurred the death of Mrs. Phebe G. LAMB at the age of ninety-one years. The deceased was born at Scipio, N. Y., and when less than a year old removed with her parents, William and J_da MOSHER, to Somerset, Niagara county, coming through the woods with a team of oxen.
For a great many years William MOSHER, the father, was one of the staunch pioneers of this section and the old Mosher homestead is a landmark in Niagara county. Mrs. LAMB shared with her parents and family the trials and privation of pioneer life, when in the year 184_, she met and became the wife of the late Seth LAMB, of Peterboro, N.Y. They took up their home in Somerset, where they remained until 1867, then moving to Lyndonville, which place was their home until his death in 1896, since which time she has resided with her children.
All through her life Mrs. LAMB has been known for her sterling fidelity to the Christian faith and in her young married life, with her husband, joined the Baptist Church. For nearly fifty years they walked through life together, and in the words of the bible, “her children arise up and call her blessed.”
Besides a sister, Mrs. Mary P. DAVISON, of Yates, she is survived by a son - William S. LAMB, of Kenosha, Wis., and four daughters - Mrs. Sylvia A. CARTWRIGHT, of Barker; Mrs. Sarah M. PAKLEY, of Kalamazoo, Mich., Mrs. Charles H. BARRY, of Louisville, Ky., and Mrs. James T. STOKES, of Medina; five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
The funeral occurred at the residence of Dr. James T. STOKES on Monday, Rev. George Laughton and Rev. C. E. Millspaugh officiating. The interment was at Somerset Corners, where services were conducted by Rev. Mr. Gross.

Dominic LAMPO, 75, died unexpectedly early this morning at his home, 161 Gravel Road. He was found dead at 6:30 a.m. by his housekeeper, who called Medina police and coroner L. F. WALTERS. Dr. WALTERS said death was apparently due to natural causes. Born in Italy, Mr. LAMPO had been a resident of Medina for thirty years.
He is survived by three sons and two daughters. The body was taken to the Cleary Funeral Home, Park Avenue. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
Funeral services for Dominic LAMPO, 76, whose death occurred yesterday at his home, 161 Gravel Road, will be held from the Cleary Funeral Home, Park Avenue, tomorrow morning at 8:30 o’clock and at 9 o’clock at St. Mary’s Church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Mrs. Wanda Lampo, 32, wife of Arthur Lampo, 161 Gravel Road, died this noon at Medina Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient since last Friday. Mrs. Lampo was born in Albion January 22, 1909, and had been a resident of Medina for the past 16 years.
She is survived by her husband, one son, David, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Lewandowski, Albion; nine sisters, Lucy and Dorothy Lewandowski, Albion; Mrs. Rose Ciesinski and Mrs. James Shubbuck, Medina; Mrs. Lillian Walters, Rochester, and Mrs. Florence Harroun, Mrs. Celia Gennamore, Mrs. Berniece Kennedy and Mrs. Ester Sullivan, Buffalo, and two brothers, Edmund of Rochester and Frank of North Carolina.
The body lies at rest at the O’Reilly Funeral Home, East Center Street, and the funeral will be Friday morning in St. Mary's Church, with burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

The sudden and unexpected death of Isaac LANDAUER, one of Medina’s oldest and most popular business men, occurred this morning. Deceased had not been in good health for a year or more, but his friends were not alarmed at his condition. Yesterday morning, however, he did not appear at the usual hour, when one of his daughters on going to his room found him in a semi-concious condition. In response to an inquiry as to whether he was ill, he replied feebly that "All is over," which were the last words spoken. Physicians were promptly summoned, Drs. Munson, Turner, Chapman, Scott and Stokes being called in council, when it was decided that the unfortunate man had been stricken with apoplexy. Every effort to relieve him proved unavailing and death resulted about two o'clock this morning.
Isaac LANDAUER was born in Nuremberg, Bavaria, Germany, in December 1837. He was educated as a physician and came to this country when a young man, settling in Macon, Ga., where he embarked in the dry goods business. Subsequently he came to Rochester, thence to Medina in 1865 when he opened a store in the old Swan block. In 1871 he became a member of the dry goods firm of Goodman & Landauer, which dissolved after a few years. Mr. Landauer then opened a store in the Tribune block, where he has continued in business, either alone or as a member of the firms of Landauer & Marshall or Landauer & Co.
Deceased was highly esteemed by a large circle of acquaintances. The surviving members of the family, besides his wife (Rosa), are three daughters, Bertha, Unade and Lena - and one son - Dr. Simon LANDAUER, of New York - who have the sincere sympathy of our entire community.
Funeral services will be held at the family residence, corner of Park and Prospect Avenues, at two p. m. Friday. The Masons, of which fraternity Mr. LANDAUER was a worthy member, will have charge.

Jessie LANDAUER of the firm of Landauer Brothers died at the Medina Hospital on Monday morning last, in the forty fifth year of his age. Mr. LANDAUER had been in poor health for six or eight months and death was due to a complication of diseases. A popular business man, who was universally esteemed, his demise will be sincerely regretted by the entire community. The surviving brother, Samuel, of this place, Louie, of Albion, and sister, Mrs. L. GOODMAN, of Schenectady, have the sympathy of many friends in their sad bereavement. The funeral was held from the residence of his brother, Samuel LANDAUER, West Center street, Wednesday afternoon. Rabbi Lewis J. Kopald, of Buffalo, officiated. The body was placed in the vault at Boxwood and later will be taken to Mt. AlbionMt. Albion Cemetery.

--Mrs. Thekla LANDAUER, wife of M. (Moritz) LANDAUER, one of the leading merchants of Albion, died on Sunday aged 58 years. She leaves besides her husband, three sons, Louis and Jesse LANDAUER, of Albion, Samuel LANDAUER, of this place, and one daughter, Mrs. Louis GOODMAN, of Albion. The funeral was held at the family residence Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Max Landsberg, of Rochester, officiated. The burial was at Mt. Albion Cemetery.

Lee James LANE, 51, World War 1 veteran and Medina manager of the New York State Unemployment Service, died unexpectedly at his 528 Davis Avenue home, shortly before 11 o’clock last night. Mr. LANE suffered a heart attack and collapsed. The emergency squad of the Medina Fire Department was called and administered artificial resperation without success.
Mr. LANE was born February 10, 1898, in Iona, Michigan. His parents were the late James and Etta ARNOLD LANE. He had been a resident of Medina for the past 13 years. A veteran of World War 1, the deceased was one of those active in organizing Co. L, of the New York Guard during World War 11 and served as a lieutenant of the company at the time he retired from service because because of ill health. He had been active in local conservation circles and was at one time president of the Medina Conservation Club. He was a member of Medina Lodge of Elks, Medina Lodge of Masons and the James P. Clark Post of the American Legion.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Gladys DURNELL LANE; three sisters, Mrs. Gladys HOWARD, Mrs. Myra HEAVEN and Mrs. Hazel DAVIDSON, all of Kalamazoo, Mich. and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Hartt Funeral Home, 226 Pearl Street, where services will be held on Friday, May 6, at 2:30 p.m. The Rev. Edward SIMPSON, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, will officiate and burial will be in Boxwood Cemetery.

Frank LANGDON died Friday night at Arcade, N.Y. The body will be brought to Lyndonville to the home of his son, Fred LANGDON, and the funeral will be held from there Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Mr. LANGDON was a member of the Middleport Masonic Lodge and they will take charge of the burial which is at West Ridgeway Cemetery.

Lyndonville - Mrs. Imo TOMS LANGDON, 62, wife of Peace Justice Ned F. Langdon, died at her home on North Main St. Saturday afternoon following an illness of several months.
Mrs. LANGDON was born in Town of Yates July 8, 1888, daughter of Millard F. and Martha M. TOMS. She was graduated from Lyndonville High School with the class of 1903, attended Vassar College and was graduated from Syracuse University in 1911. She married Ned F. LANGDON in 1912 and resided in the Town of Yates all her lifetime with the exception of two years spent in Monroe, Mich.
She was an active member of the Presbyterian Church here and the Worthwhile Class of that church, a member of the Lyndonville Literary and Historical Society and, two years ago, served as recording secretary of the Western New York Federation of Women’s Clubs. She was a past matron of Yates Chapter, Order of Eastern Star and Yates Unit of the Home Bureau. Mrs. LANGDON spent some years as local correspondent for the Medina Daily Journal-Register and served in that capacity until her death.
Surviving are her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Clifford ZANOW of Lyndonville; a son, Robert LANGDON, instructor at the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, Md., six grandchildren and several cousins. Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2 p. m. at the Smythe Funeral Home here. Mr. Hugh Outterson of the Presbyterian Church officiated, assisted by the Rev. Raymond Draftin of the Methodist Church. Burial was in Lynhaven Cemetery.

Lyndonville - Peace Justice Ned F. LANGDON, 68, prominent as an official of the NYS Assoc. of Towns, died Tuesday evening in Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, where he had been a patient for the past eight days. He had been in poor health for about five months. Mr. Langdon was born in the Town of Hartland, August 18, 1886, the son of Frank B. and Sarah GADWOOD LANGDON. On Dec. 4, 1912, he was married to Miss Imo TOMS whose death occurred in March, 1951.
Prominent in community affairs for many years, he had served the Town of Yates as Peace Justice and was a member of the Town Board of Supervisors. He was also a member of the Association of Towns of the State of New York and served that organization as president during 1952. He held membership in the Orleans County Judges and Police Executives Association and member of the board of directors of Riverdale Cemetery at Lewiston. He was an active member of Yates Lodge No, 675, F.&.A.M. and had served the lodge as its master. For the past 15 years he had been employed by the Lyndonville Canning Co. as a fruit buyer. Prior to that, he had owned and operated a farm on East Lake Road for about 25 years.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Clifford ZANOW, Lyndonville; one son, Robert M. LANGDON, Annapolis, Maryland; one brother, Fred D. LANGDON, Lyndonville; six grandchildren and three nieces. Funeral services will be held in the Smythe Funeral Home Friday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Billingsley, pastor of the Presbyterian church, officiating. Burial will be in Lynhaven Cemetery.

Lyndonville - Mrs. Nellie M. LANGDON, 62, wife of Mayor Fred D. LANGDON of Lyndonville, died yesterday afternoon at the Medina Memorial Hospital, following a week's illness. Born July 4, 1885 at Knowlesville, she was the daughter of the late John and Kate FOLEY HIGGINS, and attended schools there and in Medina. Her father died last month at the age of 97 years. She was married in 1904 to Fred LANGDON, and has resided since that time in Lyndonville. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church, Lyndonville.
Besides her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Edwin WELLER of Niagara Falls and Mrs. David H. FRASER and Mrs. Everett JOHNSON, both of Lyndonville; seven grandchildren; and five brothers, Edward, Frank, George, Arthur, and Joseph HIGGINS, all of Knowlesville.
Funeral services will be from her late residence, 91 Maple Avenue, on Wednesday morning at 9:30 o’clock, and at 10 o’clock at St. Joseph’s Church. Burial will be in Lynhaven Cemetery.

Leo LARCOM, aged 40 years, died Sunday at his home on the Beal's Bridge road, after a long illness. He is survived by his wife; one son, Howard: three daughters, Mrs. Homer MEARS, of Lyndonville, and Marie and Eileen at home; three sisters, Mrs. Cora VAN HORNE and Mrs. Nettie STROUP, of Williamsport, Pa., and Mrs. Eliza KINCH, of Kauta, Pa., and three brothers, Fred, Joseph and Delbert, all of Medina. The remains were taken Monday to his former home in Williamsport, Pa., for burial.

INMAN and OSTRANDER Waive Examinations,
Held In County Jail Until November
Waiving examination on charges of first degree murder, at arraignments
early Saturday morning before Peace Justice Milton KAST, Town of Albion,
Lloyd George INMAN, 29, and Miss Virginia D. OSTRANDER, 33, both of Albion,
are being held for the Orleans County Grand Jury in November. They are
charged with the fatal shooting of INMAN’s father-in-law, William LARSON,
58, early Friday morning as he was returning to his Kuckville home from his
work at the Veteran’s Hospital, Batavia, which he finished at 11p.m. The
shooting occurred about one mile south of Barre Center on the Albion-Batavia
Road.
District Attorney J. Kenneth SERVE said that signed confessions had been secured from both suspects. They were arrested by the Orleans County Sheriff's Department. Investigation and questioning was conducted by District Attorney SERVE, Sheriff Carl G. KLEINDIENST, and Inspector H. L. KEMP, and other officials of the sheriff’s department, B. C. I. and State Police.
INMAN is the husband of LARSON’s oldest daughter, Gladys, 25, but had not been living with her since a few weeks after their marriage last fall. He came to Albion from Colekamp, Mo., last August after some correspondence following their meeting while she was in the service with the U.S. Marines Women’s Auxiliary Corps. They were married last August but he left her several weeks later and six weeks ago she gave birth to a baby boy.
Sheriff KLEINDIENST gave family trouble as the motive for the slaying, stating that INMAN blamed his father-in-law for the trouble he was having with his wife and that he wanted to get even with him. The night before the slaying INMAN called on his wife at her parents’ home but she saw him coming, went out the back door and went to the home of a neighbor. INMAN, police reported, said he had gone there to arrange for some medical attention for their son, who is said to need specialist’s care.,p. Officials, claim that INMAN then had Miss OSTRANDER drive him to Batavia to wait for Larson to finish his work at the Batavia Veterans Hospital and that they followed him in Miss OSTRANDER’s car as he started his 25-mile drive to Waterport.
INMAN and Miss OSTRANDER are said to have known one another for about four months and to have been keeping company for about a month. He had been working for a contractor but was injured about the legs some time ago and has not been working recently. He has been living at 219 Washington Street and Miss OSTRANDER has been rooming at 118 South Clinton Street, Albion. Funeral services for LARSON were held at 2 p.m. today in the Merrill Funeral Home at 134 East State Street, Albion. Burial was in Mt. Albion Cemetery with Albion veterans’ organizations furnishing bearers and military rites.
He leaves his widow, Mrs. Minnie LARSON of Waterport; 13 children; three grandchildren; a brother; and a sister.

Albion, July 18. - J. Joseph LARWOOD, on of the best known telegraph operators in the employ of the New York Central Railroad, received his last message over the ticker last Saturday night, and died at his home, No. 24 East State street, here at 4 o'clock Sunday morning. He was an employee of the New York Central for over fifteen years, and, having been stationed at numerous places on the Falls branch.
Mr. LARWOOD was employed at the Fancher station of the New York Central as operator and worked the night trick as usual Saturday night, returning home on the 12:35 o'clock morning train. He retired apparently in good health. At 4 o'clock this morning Mrs. LARWOOD was aroused by her husband starting to leave the bed to get a bottle of camphor from a nearby dresser, but as he reached the floor he plunged forward dead a victim of appoplexy. A physician was summoned, but life was extinct.

LARWOOD, of Albany. The funeral service will be held from the home Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock.

Rundel SHAW LASHER, aged 16 years, died Monday night at his home on Eagle street after a six weeks' illness with typhoid fever. He was a senior in Medina High School and a member of the First Methodist church and Hi-Y Club. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Myron S. LASHER, and one brother, Myron, Jr. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30. Rev. William T. H. Bayford officiating. Burial will be in Boxwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Nellie LATHAM, 84, widow of the late Rev. Frank T. LATHAM, died early today in the home of Miss Edna Castle, Middleport, where she had been for the past three months. Mrs. LATHAM had been in ill health for several years. Mrs. LATHAM, with her husband, the late Rev. Frank T. LATHAM, was a resident of Medina for many years while Rev. LATHAM was the pastor of the First Baptist CHurch. Following his retirement, Rev. and Mrs. LATHAM again returned here to make their home at 515 Park Avenue.
Surviving are two daughters, Miss Florence LATHAM, Brooklyn, and Mrs. Bertha STOCKWELL of LOng Island, and two sons, Bertram of Brooklyn and Norman od Oneida. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3:30 p.m. from the Hartt Funeral Home, Pearl Street. Rev. A.S. Lowrie will officiate and burial will be in Boxwood Cemetery.

Miss Mary A. LATHROP died Tuesday afternoon in Arnold Gregory hospital after a long illness. Surviving are her sister, Miss Caroline LATHROP, secretary of the Albion State Training school, and a brother, Henry LATHROP of Brockport. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 10 East State street. The body will be placed i n the vault in Mt. Albion cemetery and removed for burial in Norwich, Conn., in the spring.

Lewis LATTIMER died yesterday morning at his home on State street, aged seventy-nine years. Deceased had long been a sufferer from gangrene, and a week ago had one of his limbs amputated just below the knee joint. On account of his advanced age he was not able to recover from the shock. The funeral will be held at St. John’s church tomorrow at 3 p.m

John Wood LATTIN of Omaha, died at the home of his daughter, Belle, (Mrs. Elmer JOHNSON) Wahoo, Neb., on August 14 on his 87th year. He was born at Gaines, NY. November 14, 1847 to William and Sally WOOD LATTIN, was the last of their ten children, and also of the eighth generation of the Lattin family living in America, and was the oldest living member of the Old Schoolmates Association of District No. 5 of Gaines.
On March 23, 1870, he was married to Martha, the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William RIDER of Gaines by the Rev. R.S. Eggleston. Two years later they, with the RIDERS, moved to Nebraska. In 1930 they celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary. Martha, his wife, passed away on April 11, 1931
Surviving are two daughters, Belle and Ada (Mrs. Samuel E. CRAWFORD) of Pico, California; two grandchildren, Mrs Arthur JOHNSON, nee Virginia CRAWFORD, of Fullerton California and Mrs Frank STACEY, nee Louise LATTIN, Gaines; three nephews, Fred BIDELMAN, of Coldwater, MI. William C. LATTIN, North Tonawanda; Dr. Frank H. LATTIN, Gaines.
He never had an enemy and was loved and revered by all who knew him

Leo LAVANINK, a world war veteran who was wounded while serving overseas, committed suicide Sunday evening about 6:15 at his home on Stork street by shooting himself through the heart with his army revolver. The cause of his act is unknown. He was 35 years of age, unmarried and lived at the home of Joseph Bertrecz on Stork street. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon with interment in Boxwood.

Word was received here Saturday evening of the death Saturday afternoon of Mrs. Ella GORMAN LAVIN, 74, former Medina woman, in Detroit, Mich.
Mrs. LAVIN, who until about 25 years ago had spent her entire life in Medina, is survived by her husband, Edward LAVIN; one brother, James GORMAN, Shelby Center; and several nieces and nephews. The body will be brought to the O' Reilly Funeral Home, East Center Street, Tuesday afternoon. Funera1 arrangements will be announced later.

Mrs. Ida LAWRENCE of 207 Pleasant Street, died late yesterday afternoon at the Arnold Gregory Memorial Hospital, Albion, after a short illness.
Surviving are one son, Joseph BANASAWSKI, stationed with Co. F in Hawaii; two sisters, Mrs. Sophie JABLONSKI and Mrs. Stella WITOWICZ; and two brothers, Watson and Joseph BANASAWSKI, all of Medina.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow morning at 8:30 o’clock from the residence and at 9:00 o’clock from Sacred Heart Church, with Rev. Max T. Bogacki officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

She was born in Knowlesville June 27, 1831, and lived in Orleans county over forty-five years. She was one of the charter members of the George M. Pullman Memorial Universalist Church of this village, and leaves three daughters, Mrs. Daniel H. COLE, of Albion; Mrs. Walter H. SMITH, of Le Roy; and Mrs. Frank E. [KORESKI?], of Yakima, Wash.; one son, William S. FLINTHAM, of this village, and one brother, John [?] STEVENS, of Knowlesville. The funeral of Mrs. John LAWS of Eagle Harbor, who died Friday morning in an Albion hospital, was held Sunday afternoon in Hartt's Funeral Home on Pearl Street, Rev. Arthur Gregson officiating. Burial was in Otter Creek Cemetery.
Mrs. LAWS who was 62 years old, is survived by her husband; one brother, Charles SELF of Buffalo and two sisters, Mrs. Bert HYDE of Elba and Mrs. Fred GRANT of Albion.

LYNDONVILLE - Dr. Julius J. LAYER, 57, who had practiced medicine here since 1929, died suddenly shortly after 1 p.m. today while on a house call at the home of Mrs. Louie Kenyon, Yates Center. Rushed to Medina Memorial Hospital, he was pronounced dead upon arrival. A coroner’s announcement was not available immediately, but it is believed that the physician was stricken with a heart attack. A severe heart attack disabled him for some time a few years ago. Dr. LAYER was president of Medina Memorial Hospital’s medical staff in 1959 when the new hospital wings were dedicated.
Dr. LAYER was born in Lockport and graduated from Canisius High School in Buffalo In 1922. After two years of pre-med training at Canisius College, he entered the University of Buffalo Medical School, from which he was graduated in 1928. He interned during the year of the great Wall Street crash at Sisters of Charity Hospitals in Buffalo, and had been practicing medicine in Lyndonville since 1929. From 1942 to 1945, Lt. LAYER served as a Navy doctor, first at Sampson naval base, then aboard the USS Sable, a carrier based on the Great Lakes. Other naval assignments took him to the Great Lakes Naval Training Station, to Newport R.I., to Sampson Naval V-12 program and to the naval medical center at Bethesda, Md. He married the former lola WOLFE of Lyndonville (1938), and they have a daughter now in college.
An active man in civic affairs Dr. LAYER once headed Lyndonville Planning Commission, a member of Lyndonville’s Zoning Board of Appeals, a director of the Lyndonville Lions Club, health officer for Lyndonville and Yates, Orleans County Blue Shield trustee, a trustee of St. Joseph's Church, member of Medina Moose, K. of C., American Legion and at one time a volunteer firemen. He used to find yachting pleasure on a 32-foot cruiser and has continued his membership in the Oak Orchard Yacht Club. Since the death of Dr. David Fraser, he has been the only physician residing in Lyndonville.

Mrs. Margaret LEARY, widow of the late Dr. Daniel LEARY, 420 N. Academy Street, died this morning at 8:30 at Medina Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient for one week. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Medina.
Her body is resting at the O’Reilly Funeral Home, East Center Street, where services will be held Thursday at 8:30 a.m. Services are scheduled at St. Mary’s Church at 9 o’clock. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Edna LeBAR, wife of the late Charles LeBAR, and sister of Mary L. VOLKOSH, of Buffalo, Mrs. Joseph LEPKOSKI of Medina, and the late Fred VOLKOSH, died Feb. 9 in Buffalo.

She is survived by her husband; one son, Luther Lee; one sister, Mrs. Jennie COFF of Albion; three brothers, Charles PAYNE of Medina, Lewis PAYNE of Binghamton and William PAYNE of Albion, and one granddaughter. Mrs. William U. LEE passed away about 10:30 yesterday morning after a long illness. Deceased was Frances H. CHURCH, daughter of the late John CHURCH, and was born in the old town of Barre, now Albion, February 19th, 1837. Mr. and Mrs. LEE were united in marriage in February, 1867.
Besides her husband, one daughter, Mrs C. W. WHEDON, and one brother, Charles M. CHURCH, of Albion, survive. Residing in Medina since 1883, Mrs LEE had a wide acquaintance and many friends who will sincerely sympathize with the family in their bereavement. Funeral services will be held at the residence on Park avenue Friday at 4 o’clock p. m. Rev. W. L. Findlay will officiate. The interment will be at Mt. Albion Cemetery.

William LEE, of Eagle Harbor, aged eighty-two years, one of the oldest and best known citizens of that vicinity, died at his home Sunday night.

William U. LEE, 80 years of age, a resident of Medina for the past forty years, died Monday morning at his home in Medina after several weeks of severe illness. Mr. Lee was born on Lee street, Barre, many years ago and became one of its most respected citizens, being interested in the business and social life of that place. He was the original incorporator and ever since its organization, thirty-four years ago, president of the Medina Savings and Loan Association. He was president of the Medina City Club and treasure and trustee of the Presbyterian church.
His only surviving relative is a daughter, Mrs. Mary Lee WHEDON, of Medina, with whom he made his home. Burial will be made at Mt. Albion Cemetery this afternoon.

The funeral of Mrs. John LEFFLER, of West Shelby, who died Friday in the Cleveland Clinic Hospital, was held Tuesday afternoon in Trinity Lutheran Church, Wolcottsville, Rev. Herman Ewald officiating. Burial was in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, West Shelby.
Mrs. LEFFLER, who was 53 years old, is survived by her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Arthur SCHILLING of Middleport; two sons, Elmer and John at home; one brother, William POGEL, and three sisters, Mrs. William BLUMREICH, of West Shelby, and Mrs. Edward SWEENEY and Mrs. Frank KING, both of Gasport.

James Wayne LEFFLER, four-months-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer LEFFLER of West Shelby, died last evening in the Children’s Hospital, Buffalo.
Besides his parents, he is survived by one brother, Stephen and two sisters, Linda and Virginia, at home; and his grandparents, John LEFFLER of West Shelby and Mrs. Matilda BRUNING of Akron.
Friends may call after 7 p.m. Friday at the Wallace and Heath Funeral Home, Middleport, from where funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock. The Rev. Herman Ewald, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Wolcottsville, will officiate, and burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, West Shelby.

Mrs. Walter LELAND, 69, formerly Alice NIXSON, died yesterday in her Buffalo home following a long illness. Surviving are one daughter Miss Frances MARTIN of Buffalo, and three sisters, Mrs. Frank WHITTLETON and Mrs. M. J. WHEDON of Medina, and Mrs. J. KORN of Buffalo. Private funeral services are to be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 from the late home, followed by cremation.

The death of Mrs. Fannie R. LELAND, 85, widow of Dahr LELAND of 118 West Oak Orchard Street, occurred early Sunday morning in an Albion hospital, after a short illness. Mrs. LELAND had spent most of her life in this vicinity and was a member of the Medina Baptist Church.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews in Western New York.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday afternoon at 2:40 o'clock from the Thiballt Funeral Parlors, with Rev. A.S. Lowrie officiating. Burial willl be in Mt. Albion Cemetery. Frinds may call between the hours of 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Mrs. M. (Michael) J. LENAHAN, aged 55 years, formerly of Medina, died Monday afternoon at her home in Niagara Falls after a long illness. She is survived by her husband, one son Francis, of Middleport, and three daughters, Mrs. Thomas HOLLIHAN, Helen and Cathryn LENAHAN of Niagara Falls. The funeral was held yesterday morning at Niagara Falls. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Medina.

Knowlesville - Funeral services were held at 2:00 o'clock for Mrs. Louise LENHART, 70, at the Methodist Church here with burial in Boxwood Cemetery. The Rev. Carroll Halbert, officiated at the services. Mrs. LENHART died Friday evening at her home from a heart attack.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Roy (Laura SETTY) BAILEY, Knowlesville; five step-daughters, Mrs. Florence HIGGINS, Mrs. Hazel HIGGINS, and Mrs. MARTIN, all of Knowlesville; Mrs. Carl PEGELOW, Medina, and one son, Earl LENHART, of Auburn.

Mrs Bridget LENIHAN passed away at 2 p.m. Thursday at her home on East Center street. The funeral was held at St. Mary's Church. The interment was at St. Stephen's Cemetery, Middleport.

Henry M. LENIHAN, 80, of 195 Grand Ave., Rochester, a former resident of Medina, died last night in St. Mary’s Hospital in that city. He had been in failing health for some time.
He was born March 14, 1880, on County Line Road, Niagara County, the son of Daniel and Bridget DUNN LENIHAN.
Mr. LENIHAN was a member of Corpus Christi Church in Rochester and the Holy Name Society of that church. He also was a member of Knights of Columbus, Council 651, of Medina. Mr. and Mrs. LENIHAN moved to Rochester about five years ago. Before his retirement Mr. LENIHAN had been employed as a machinist by the A. L. Swett Iron Works. His survivors include his wife, Clara MAXWELL LENIHAN; one son, James R. of Arlington, Va.; one daughter, Mrs. Patrick (Rita) HAYES of Rochester; four grandchildren; one brother, Leo, of Buffalo; several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received after 1 p.m. tomorrow at his late home, 195 Grand Ave., where a prayer service will be held at 8:30 a.m. Monday. A funeral mass will follow at 9 o’clock at Corpus Christi Church and burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Medina.

John F. LENTON, a former Barre reident died Apr. 3rd at his home in Hannibal, aged 65 years. He leaves his widow, formerly Mary Belle REED of Knowlesville; three daughters Mrs. Carl ROWE and Mrs. Burton WEAVER of Albion and Mrs. Charles WELLS of Fulton; one son Myron, at home, a brother Mark LENTON of Knowlesville; a brother and sister in England. The body was brought to Mt.Albion Cemetery Saturday for burial.

Albion - Mrs. Mary B. LENTON, 74, widow of John F. LENTON, and a native of Orleans County, died unexpectedly in her home in South Hannibal on Wednesday, July 17. Funeral will be conducted tomorrow noon in the home and at 11:30 p.m. in the South Hannibal Baptist Church. The Rev. Charles Holcomb, pastor, will officiate. Burial in Mt.Albion Cemetery where her husband also is buried.
She was born in Knowlesville on Nov. 13, 1871, and was the last of seven children of the late Julia and Nelson REED. She was a member of the South Hannibal Baptist Church and of the Ladies Aid Society, which she was to have entertained at her home yesterday. She leaves three daughters, Mrs. Burton L. WEAVER of South Hannibal with whom she had been living, also Mrs. Carl ROWE of Albion, and Mrs. Burton HASKINS of Fulton; a son, Myron LENTON of Brewerton; nine grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

TWO DEATHS
On Monday night two deaths occurred at the same time in the home of Mr. and
Mrs. William H. LEONARD in the town of Carlton when Mrs. Ida M. LEONARD, 62, died of
influenza, and Frederick C. Bull, who resided there, died of pneumonia. Mrs. LEONARD
was the wife of William H. LEONARD. She also leaves one daughter, Miss Alice LEONARD
and two brothers, Calvin J. WARN of Gaines, and Frank WARN of Hulberton.
Mr. Bull leaves two brothers, William Bull of Carlton Station and Chas. Bull of Clarendon. A double funeral service was held at the home of William H. Leonard in the town of Carlton, Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Mrs. LEONARD was buried at Otter Creek Cemetery in the town of Gaines; and Mr. Bull at West Kendall.

Jay LEONARD, an Albion man who had domestic troubles, was found dying from morphine poisoning Thursday morning, He was 36 years old. Coroner Nesbit decided it was a case of suicide.

Lyndonville - Funeral services for William Henry LEONARD, 76, who was found dead in his bed early Monday morning at his home in Ashwood, N.Y., will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 D.S.T. at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George HITCHCOCK, Kendrick road. Rev. Lewis Ovenshire of Waterport Methodist Church will officiate, and burial will be in Otter Creek Cemetery, near Gaines.
Mr. LEONARD who was born February 7, 1865 in Geneva, N. Y. had lived in the vicinity of Ashwood for thirty years. Besides their daughter, with whom he made his home, his only survivor is a sister, Mrs. Olive WARN of Gaines.

James LEPKOSKI, 44, died unexpectedly as the result of a heart attack, yesterday afternoon, shortly after noon, at his home on the Sanderson Road. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church
Surviving are his wife, Lucille LEPKOSKI; four children, Edward, Gertrude, George and Donald, all at home; his mother, Mrs. Veronica LEPKOSKI, Medina; two brothers, Joseph and Jack, and four sisters, Mrs. Fred VOLKOSH, Mrs. Anthony LEVANDUSKI,, Mrs. Stanley BURKE all of Medina, and Mrs. Fred HOFFMAN of Middleport.

Mrs. Veronica LEPKOSKE, aged 81 years, died at her home on the Maple Ridge Road Sunday morning after suffering a heart attack. She was born in Poland, the daughter of Jacob WISNOCK and Marion SUBTCHECK and came to this country when a young girl settling in the vicinity of Shelby Basin where she spent the remainder of her life.
She was the widow of Stanislaus LEPKOSKE and the mother of eight children, five of whom are now living. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Church and the Rosary Society.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Fred VOLKOSH, Mrs. Stanley BURKE and Mrs. Anthony LEVANDUSKI, two sons, Joseph LEPKOSKI and Jacob LEPKOSKI all of Medina; eighteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
The Rev. Anthony A. CIECHANSKI will conduct prayer services from the home Wednesday morning at nine-thirty and officiate at Requiem Mass at ten o’clock at Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be made in the family plot at Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Albion, Feb. 5.-- Henry LESLIE, who for some time had been employed as a deliveryman at a local meat market, where he was a trusted employee, was found by his wife dead in bed at his home, No. 68 West Bank street, yesterday forenoon about 11:30 o'clock. Coroner Frank H. LATTIN was notified and made an investigation which resulted in his rendering a verdict of death due to suicide by carbolic acid. From an entry found in a note book of the dead man, made a short time before his death, it was learned by Coroner LATTIN that Mr. LESLIE's mind was evidently unbalanced by illness and that he had contemplated the deed.
Mr. LESLIE was born in County Darry, Ireland, November 15, 1853, and had lived in this village twenty-three years. He was a man of good habits, reserved and industrious. He had not been at work for several days owing to illness, which, however, was not considered of a serious nature.
Mr. LESLIE leaves his wife (Emily), one daughter, Miss Grace LESLIE, of this village; two sons, James LESLIE of Kent, N. Y. and Cuyler LESLIE, an officer on the United States battleship Rhode Island, which is now stationed in Cuba for two months with the United States squadron; one sister, Mrs. Charlotte MACKEY, of Georgia, and two brothers, William, of Knowlesville, and James, of Australia.
His funeral will be held from the home Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock, Mrs. Sarah Nichols Osborns, of Rochester, formerly pastor of the Mission here, officiating. Interment will be made in Mt. Albion Cemetery.

William LESLIE, 75 years old, died suddenly of heart disease at his farm Saturday. Mr. LESLIE went to the barn one mile north of Knowlesville in the morning and assisted his son, Walter LESLIE when he harnessed a horse. He remained at the barn as his son drove away to Medina. Upon his return home in the evening Walter found his father lying in the doorway dead. Coroner Dr. LaVern Waters, of Knowlesville, was summoned and gave the opinion that Mr. LESLIE died of heart failure soon after his son left him in the morning.

The death of Anthony LeSTORTI occurred on Thursday, June 26, at his home on State Street after an illness of several months. Mr. LeSTORTI was born in Italy on October 21, 1884, and has been a respected resident of Holley for the past twenty-nine years.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Teresa QUARANTO LeSTORTI; his mother, Mrs. Carmela LeSTORTI; eight children, Mrs. Carmelita DiNICOLA of Rochester, Mrs. Mary DeCLEMENTE of Union City, N. J.; Katherine, Joseph, James (Vengenzo), M. Philip, Michael Patrick and Anthony F., all of Holley; three sisters, Mrs. Mary SANTORA, Katherine CALAVITO in Holley and Mrs. Florence GENTILE of New York, and two brothers, Phillip and Michael A. LeSTORTI of Holley.
Funeral services were held from St. Mary’s Catholic church Monday at 9 o’clock and interment was made in Holy Cross Cemetery

Walter LESZCZYNSKI, 68, died this morning at his home 195 Glenwood Ave., after a short illness. Born in Poland, he had lived in this vicinity for the past forty-five years. For a number of years he had bcen employed by the A. L. Swett Iron Works, retiring a short time ago.
Surviving besides his wife, Anna, are one daughter, Mrs. Herman LEITER of Medina; two sons, Joseph and Stephen of Medina; three grandchildren; three brothers in Poland. Friends may call at the Thibault Funeral Home, South Main St. Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday from the funeral home.

Mrs. John LeVALLEY died after a protracted illness at the home of her son in Shelby Basin, N.Y. on April 30, 1894. She was the daughter of Joseph DAVIS and Dolly MAYNARD, who came from Ma. as pioneers to Orleans County 75 yrs. ago, when they located in the town of Ridgeway, and hewed out for themselves a home from the primeval forests.
Seraphina, the subject of this sketch, was born 11/15/1827, she being the youngest of a family of 9 children, all of whom lived to advanced life, six of them still surviving her. Her sturdy parentage and the early life in the new country, with its freshness and freedom instilled into her nature those principles which led to her advancement and to higher walks of usefulness in later life. Her education was obtained largely from the district school, supplemented by 3 yrs. in Yates Academy.
At an early age she began teaching and for nearly 10 yrs. she occupied an enviable position as instructor in the public schools. Tender and loving and yet with a dominant will, she had the affection of all her pupils and was an honored guest in their homes. At age 28 she married John LeVALLEY, recently deceased and nobly took up the work of caring for two motherless daughters, and later tenderly ministered for 18 yrs. to her husband's infirm and aged mother. When but 15 yrs. old she gave her heart to God, but it was only in the ripeness of years that she saw her way clearly to follow her Lord in baptism and became a member of the First Baptist Church of Medina. Her christianity was manifested mainly in her home, but she was always interested in every good word and work. She was one of the organizers of the Shelby Basin Union Sunday School and for 10 yrs. graciously filled the office of superintendent.
Her own children number three - John, who lives at the homestead, Serephine, wife of G.L.DIMMICK, of Owosso, Mi. and Lina, wife of Dr. G.J. LUND of Medina. They, with one sister, Mrs. H.B. PETERSON of Owosso were constantly at the beside of the precious mother during her last days. Hers was a sunny nature to shed good cheer and brightness into every life she came in contact with. She was the light of the home and none knew her but to love her. Children and grandchildren shall rise up to call her blessed. Though the hearts of the many friends are filled with sorrow that she is taken from them, yet her presence shall be with them as a sweet influence and a benediction.

Killed By Fall From Horse
Miss Althea LeVAN, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles D. LeVAN, of West Center street, passed
away at the Medina Hospital last Friday evening at 7:30. In the morning of the same day, while out on
one of her daily rides on a spirited horse, she was thrown to the pavement when the horse slipped and
fell near the corner of West avenue and Oak Orchard street. Miss LeVAN struck on her head, fracturing
her skull and she never regained consciousness.
The whole community, where she was so well known and respected, was shocked by her untimely and tragic death. Miss LeVAN, who was an expert horsewoman, was a familiar sight on the streets of Medina seated on her horse. She was an accomplished and talented young lady who had a wide circle of friends who mourn her departure. She was a former student of Medina High School and senior in Smith College and was spending her vacation at home when she was suddenly taken away. The funeral services, which were held at the family home on West Center street Monday afternoon at two o'clock, were largely attended. Miss Betty Clark sang, unaccompanied, "O Gentle Presence," by Mary Baker Eddy. The First Reader of First Church of Christ, Scientist, of Rochester, Mr. Gellard, read from the Bible and from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," by Mary Baker Eddy, followed by a prayer. Miss Clark then sang, "Come Ye Disconsolate." The floral tributes of friends were numerous and most beautiful.
The bearers were: Cary Lattin, of Albion; V. James Morgan, of Buffalo; Reginald Coe, Spencer Whedon, Lucius Williams and Roland Howell, of Medina. The interment took place in Mountain Ridge Cemetery (Royalton Cemetery), southwest of Middleport.

After an illness of ten days, Daniel S. LeVAN died Saturday, at the home of his son, Frank, in Brockport. Deceased was seventy-four years of age and is survived by his widow, three sons - one of whom is Charles D., of this place and four daughters. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon.

Lorence LEVANDOSKI, aged 60 years, a farmer residing on the Ridge road in the town of Gaines, near Albion, died today from injuries sustained when his team of horses ran away with him yesterday morning. Mr. Levandoski went to work as usual and went out in the field driving his team, which was hitched to a heavy farm wagon. During the course of the morning his son Michael, working another point on the farm, saw the team of horses running away. He went immediately to search for his father and found him lying on the ground, unconscious. The son called neighbors to assist him and his father was removed to the house where he was attended by Dr. Cooper, who rushed from Albion in an automobile. It is not known certainly, but it is believed that the wheels of the wagon passed over Mr. Levandoski's body. An internal homorrhage(sic) took place.
Mr. LEVANDOSKI came here from Poland 36 years ago. He had an excellent reputation in Orleans county for his industry, ability and family life. He had been very successful as a farmer and had acquired the title to valuable farm property.
Surviving are his wife, Rose, two sons, Michael of Albion and Bernard, who is married and lives in Medina. Funeral services will be held from St. Mary’s church Friday morning.

Anthony S. LEVANDUSKI, 58, of Maple Ridge Road, died suddenly at his home early Sunday morning. His parents were the late Edward and Antoinette BUDZYNSKI LEVANDUSKI. He was born in the Town of Shelby and was a farmer most of his life.
Mr. LEVANDUSKI is survived by his wife, Frances LEPKOSKE LEVANDUSKI; three daughters Barbara at home, Mrs. Edward SZTORC of North Tonawanda, Mrs. William KOZODY of Middleport; one son, Joseph of Medina; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews; also two sisters, Mrs. Mary KONESKI of Medina, and Mrs. Thomas COSTELLO of Los Angeles, Calif.; one brother Walter of Medina and one step-sister, Mrs. George DERSKI of Buffalo.
He was a communicant of the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church and was a member of the Sacred Heart Society and of the Farm Bureau. Funeral services will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday from his home and 10:00 at Sacred Heart Church, with the Rev. Joseph RYDZ officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Mrs. Frances B. LEVANDUSKI, 60, of Maple Ridge Road, died suddenly at her home early this morning. Her husband was the late Anthony S. LEVANDUSKI who died two years ago. Her parents were the late Stanley and Veronica LEPKOSKI. Mrs. LEVANDUSKI was a member of Sacred Heart Church and of the Sacred Heart Rosary Society and Mothers Club.
She is survived by three daughters, Barbara, at home, Mrs. William (Frances) KOZODY of Middleport, Mrs. Edward (Marion) SZTORC of North Tonawanda; one son, Joseph of Medina; four grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Walter LEVANDUSKI Sr., 60, of 337 North Ave., died suddenly this morning at the Niagara Mohawk Power Company where he had been employed for ten years. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Church and the Sacred Heart Society.
Survivors include his wife, Martha (HOFFMAN), four daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Dorothy) BALCERZAK, Mrs. Raymond (Theresa) KUJAWA, Mrs. Alfred (Rita) POTRUBACZ and Helen, at home; four sons, Charles, Edward, Walter Jr., all of Medina, and Thomas of Albion; ten grandchildren. Also, two sisters, Mrs. Mary KONESKI of Medina and Mrs. Josephine COSTELLO of Los Angeles, Calif.; one step-sister, Mrs. George DERSKI of Buffalo; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at his late home at 8:30 am. Thursday and at 9 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. The Rev. Joseph Rydz will officiate.

Mrs. Anna LEWANDOWSKI, 69, widow of Stanley LEWANDOWSKI, died in her home, 203 Ann street this morning, following an illness of eight months. Born in Poland, Mrs. Lewandowski has been a resident of Medina for the past forty years, and was a member of Sacred Heart Church and of the Rosary Society of the church.
Surviving are five sons, Frank, Anthony and John LEWANDOWSKI all of Medina. Pvt. Theodore LEWANDOWSKI stationed at Avon Park, Fla., in the Bombing Range and Pvt. Stanley LEWANDOWSKI, stationed at Camp Campbell, Ky.; one daughter, Mrs. James BLOOM of Medina; and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday morning from her late home on Ann street and in Sacred Heart Church. with Ref.(sic) Max T. Bogacki officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Services Held For Young Drivers Killed Friday
Funeral services were held today for two young Orleans County men whose deaths occurred
instantly at 4:25 Friday afternoon when their cars met nearly headon on Route 31 a short
distance east of the intersection of Culvert Road and Route 31.
They were Frank LEWANDOWSKI of Medina and William G. BABCOCK, Jr., of Albion.
Prayers were said in the Gulinski Funeral Home for Joseph Frank LEWANDOWSKI, 26, 417 Commercial Street, at 9:45 with Mass at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church with the Rev. Joseph RYDZ, pastor officiating. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Mr. LEWANDOWSKI was born October 5, 1928 in Milwaukee, Wisc. coming to Medina with his parents 13 years ago. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Society and a communicant of Sacred Heart Church. Surviving are his wife, Christine PARADA LEWANDOWSKI, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank LEWANDOWSKI and two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy SANTILLO, all of Medina, and another sister, Mrs. Ann GODLEWSKI, Manominee, Mich.; also several aunts uncles and nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held for William Babcock Jr., at 2 p.m. in the Merrill Funeral Home, Albion, with burial in Mr. Albion Cemetery.
The Albion man resided with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William BABCOCK, Sr., Goodrich Street. Surviving in addition to his parents are two brothers, Marvin, Albion, and Walter, Victor; four sisters, Mrs. Walter JOHNSON and Mrs. Joseph NENNI, Albion; Mrs. Edward DEALE, Rochester and Mrs. Frank CARDUCCI, Buffalo.
Both men were returning to their homes from employment and both were alone in their cars when the accident happened. Mr. LEWANDOWSKI was employed in Albion by the Nealson Construction Co., on the new Central School project and Mr. BABCOCK was employed by the Synthetic Granite Vault Co., 1034 Gwinn Street, Medina.
Witnesses to the accident were Grady JACKSON and his wife, Janie Lee, who reside on the Laverne Beeton Farm and were waiting for a bus at the time. They told Orleans County Undersheriff Larry HENDERSON and Deputy John WILLIAMS, who investigated, the Lewandowski's car had passed another car and a coal truck going in the opposite direction and the driver apparently hit the road shoulder and lost control of the machine. Mr JACKSON said the Medina man’s car crossed the highway first to the right then to the left and back into the center of the road where the two cars met. Both men, who died as a result of compound skull fractures, were thrown from their cars. Dr. John ELLIS of Albion, Orleans County coroner, investigated the accident and issued statements of death due to accidental causes.

Theodore (Ted) LEWANDOWSKI, 57, who served in the U.S. Army during World War II, died suddenly at 448 Henry St., Detroit, Mich. He was a former resident of Medina but had worked for many years at the Nash-Kelvinator plant in Detroit. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. James (Frances) BLOOM; four brothers, Frank, Anthony and John, all of Medina, and Stanley of Niagara Falls; several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received tomorrow evening and Sunday at the Gulinski Funeral Home, Eagle St. Services will be held at 9 a.m. Monday with burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Mrs. Otis S. LEWIS, of Syracuse, for many years a resident of Knowlesville, died on Monday last at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ralph ROBINSON in __?___ __?__, Florida where Mr. and Mrs. LEWIS were spending the winter. Her age was sixty-seven years. Besides her husband she is survived by one son, Harvey LEWIS, of Tampa, Florida, two daughters, Mrs. Ralph ROBINSON, of _ ?____ - __?__, Florida and Mrs. Arthur (Guy?), of Johannesburg, South Africa, and a brother, Elam THOMAS.

Elisha LEWIS was found dead at his home on the Creek Road on the 16th inst. Mr. LEWIS was an old resident of this vicinity and of late had lived alone. His body was discovered by Mr. Hatch of Knowlesville, a groceryman, who called at the house. Death was due to heart failure.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. George VANAERNUM and Mrs. George FISH, and one son, Leon LEWIS.

Frank LEWIS died at his home on North avenue on Friday last. He is survived by his wife, two sons, Timothy and Francis, of Buffalo, and one daughter, Mary. The funeral occurred Monday morning at St. Mary's church.

Frank LEWIS, who was injured at Mahar Bros.' frame factory a week ago, died as a result of the injuries at Mary Louise Hospital at five o'clock yesterday morning, the injury to the chest causing a pneumonic development which so weakened the heart as to cause death.
Mr. LEWIS was a well known citizen of this village, and popular with his exceptionally large circle of acquaintances. He had many fast friends, and was esteemed and respected by the entire community, who will mourn his untimely demise.
The deceased is survived by his wife (Mary J. LEWIS), one daughter, two brothers, John and George, of Medina, and three sisters, Mrs. Anna GRESART, of Marion, Kansas, and Mrs. Thos. GRIBBINS and Mrs. John LYNCH, both of Medina.
Coroner Charles E. FAIRMAN, of Lyndonville, will hold an inquest at the Village Hall, Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, at which time he will inquire into the cause of the death of the deceased.

LEWIS - Smith LEWIS, formerly of Knowlesville, died at his home in Pavilion on the 8th inst., aged eighty-eight years. The remains were taken to Albion for interment. He leaves two sons - Charles, of Cleveland, and Otis S., of Syracuse - and one daughter, Mrs. Frank STEVENS, of Knowlesville.

Mrs. A. M. LEWIS, 65, died at her home in West avenue, Monday night, January 26. Mrs Harriet Emma LEWIS was born in the Town of Yates, November 24, 1876. She was a member of the Methodist Church and the Gleaner Class. Besides her husband, Abijah M. LEWIS, the surviving relatives are a son, Laverne LEWIS; two daughters, Mrs. Pauline BARRY and Mrs. Marjorie HUTCHISON, all of Lyndonville; two sisters, Mrs William MAHNKE of Albion, and Mrs. Louise CAIN of Lyndonville; three brothers, Fred BLISSETT of Kuckville, Arthur BLISSETT of Holley, and Frank BLISSETT of Medina, and seven grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at the home, 123 West avenue, this afternoon (Thursday) at 2:30 o'clock, the Rev. Edward P. Gill officiating. Interment will be in Lynhaven Cemetery.

The death of John Van Buren LEWIS occurred at his home in North Main street in this village, last Thursday afternoon. Mr. Lewis was born in this county Dec. 28th, 1848 and was the son of the late Hiram W. LEWIS, who for many year was one of the leading physicians in the county. Mr. LEWIS was a graduate of Hamilton College of the class of 1870 and was a classmate of Rev. George Smith, of Gaines, N. Y., and Judge Signor of this village. He entered the class of 1869, but at the end of his junior year accepted a position as a teacher in the old Albion academy under Professor Morehouse for one year and at the end of the year returned to college to graduate with the class of 1870. He took the law course in the Hamilton college law school during his senior year in addition to the regular course of study, and received the degree of A. B. from the college, and the degree of L. L. B. from the law school. He studied law for one year after his graduation from the law school, in the office of the late Judge Bessac, and in the fall of 1871 opened a law office in Albion with Judge Signor for his partner. In May, 1873 the partnership was dissolved and through the influence of the late Judge Noah Davis, he went to New York and entered the law office of Davis & Work. In October of the same year Judge Signor entered the same office and they were room mates for about five years in Brooklyn at the end of which time Judge Signor returned to Albion. Mr. Lewis formed a partnership with William C. Beecher, a son of Henry Ward Beecher, under the firm name of Lewis & Beecher. They opened an office at 237 Broadway and the firm continued in the practice of law until about 1889 when Mr. Lewis suffered an apoplectic shock that rendered him unable to longer continue his practice and the firm was dissolved, and Mr. Lewis retired from his profession.
He married Miss Marianna BLAKEMAN, a daughter of Mr. BLAKEMAN, the publisher, and continued to live in New York up to the death of his wife, which occurred several years ago. Soon after her death he returned to Albion and took up his residence with his mother, Mrs. Melissa P. (TOUSLEY) LEWIS, at his boyhood home and continued to reside with her up to the time of his death. Mr. LEWIS, notwithstanding his bodily infirmities resulting from his affliction continued to the time of his death in the full possession of all his faculties and was largely interested in literature and in all current events in this as well as in foreign countries. He was possessed of unusually fine literary taste and to the time of his death, was a great student and reader of the best literature. Less than two weeks before his death he prepared a very interesting paper to be read at one of the literary clubs of the village, to which he belonged.
During the later years of his life, Mr. LEWIS became largely interested in farming, and at the time of his death was the owner of two farms which he had greatly improved since they came into his possession. He took much interest in the work of Luther Burbank in developing new species of fruit, flowers and trees and had within a few years set out a number of fruit trees of the new varieties that Mr. Burbank has developed. Mr. LEWIS was one of the kind of men that refuse to lessen their activities, and when shut off in one direction, turned to another field of activity. There are few men who would have gotten so much out of life, under the circumstances, and remained so useful a member of society. On the day of his death he had driven his team to one of his farms and on his return lay down on a couch while his mother read to him; on turning to him he was apparently asleep, but on closer examination, it was found that he had passed away so quietly that his passing was unnoticed.
He was a member of the Psi Upsilon fraternity at Hamilton college and always maintained an active interest in his fraternity and in his college. The young men now in college, members of his fraternity, in recognition of his interest in them, sent one of the beautiful floral remembrances that were seen at his funeral. His life was a useful one to his family and friends and to the community in which he lived, and a splendid example of what may be accomplished by men who never surrender to misfortune.
He is survived by his mother; a brother, Birdseye LEWIS, of New York City, a daughter, Mrs. Anna B. VESEY of London, England, a brother, James Taylor LEWIS, of New York, and two sisters, Mrs. Henry HARRISON of Brockport, and Mrs. George P. DECKER of Rochester.
The funeral was held on Sunday afternoon at 2:3O o'clock at his late home in North Avenue, Rev. Dr. Francis Dunham, assisted by Rev. Mr. Pickard and Rev. Mr. LeBoutillier, officiated. The bearers were Hon. W.C. Ramsdale, J. W. Cornell, W.S. Field, George Smith, R.T. Coan and G.W. Fitch.

Mrs. Mary Jane LEWIS, aged 70 years, died Monday evening at her home on Eagle street after a short illness. She is survived by one daughter, Kathleen, and one sister, Mrs. Anna J. GARRICK. The funeral was held this Thursday morning at St. Mary's Church.

Albion - Mrs Nellie K. LEWIS, 70, died in the Onandaga General Hospital in Syracuse yesterday. She was a member of the Unity Association of Detroit. Friends may call at the Grinnell Funeral Home at 230 South Main Street, Albion, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. George LEE of Albion and Mrs. Jessie SESENMEYER of Syracuse; a brother, Charles KELLOGG of Albion, two nieces and two nephews.

The death of Raymond LEWIS, of Albion, occurred Sunday noon at State Hospital, Buffalo, aged 20 years. The surviving relatives are his father, Leon LEWIS, of Lyndonville; two sisters, Mrs. Milford REYNOLDS and Miss Ruth LEWIS, of Medina; and his grandmother, Mrs. Henry COVELL, of Lockport. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at the West Ridgeway Chapel, Rev.W.A. Harris officiating.

The death of Robert B. LEWIS, aged 72 years, occurred at the home of his niece, Mrs. Charles JOHNSON, 741 Orient street, Tuesday noon of broncial pneumonia. He is survived by a son, two brothers and one sister. The funeral will be held at the Johnson home this afternoon, Rev. J. J. Allen officiating. Ronald H. LEWIS Died Yesterday On First Birthday
Ronald Howard LEWIS, year old son of Pfc and Mrs. Kenneth C. LEWIS, died suddenly. at
Children's Hospital, Buffalo, Tuesday afternoon. The infant was taken seriously ill
Saturday morning and taken to Buffalo Monday where he died on Tuesday, on his first
birthday. PFC. LEWIS is stationed in England and had never seen his son.

Walter M. LEWIS, aged 80 years, of Yates Center, a veteran of the Civil War, died Saturday, January 8, at the Soldiers and Sailors Home at Bath. He is survived by six children. The body was brought to Lyndonville and buried in Lynhaven Cemetery.
