In the matter of the Administration of the Estate of Anna ROOT, deceased:

On reading and filing the petition of Daniel ROOT, son of Anna Root, late of the town of Carlton, in the County of Orleans, deceased, praying that letters of the Administration of Goods, Chattels and credits of the said deceased be granted to Daniel Root and on reading and filing the bond, executed by the said Daniel Root is in all respects competent to act as administrator of the Goods, Chattels and credits of said deceased.

To the Surrogate of the County of Orleans;

The petition of the Daniel Root of the town of Carlton in the County of Orleans respectfully showeth- that Anna Root of the town of Carlton in the said County of Orleans died in the said town of Carlton on or about the 7th day of April- in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty six. That at the time of her death, she was an inhabitant of the County of Orleans; that she left no Will as far as your petitioner has heard or been able to discover. That she left her surviving seven children all of full age

And your petitioner further showeth, that all the goods, chattels and credits of the said deceased do not exceed in value the sum of one hundred twenty dollars; and your petitioner prays that letters of the administration of the goods, chattels and credits, of said deceased, may be granted by the Surrogate to your petitioner.
